I think the fact that no one has mentioned him is a bit insulting to a guy that has won a Rugby Union world cup and a Rugby Union Super 15 title and a Rugby League Grand final when switching codes and is Pro Boxer in gis spare time without having a loss in the ring as yet. - Iceman18

Ingemar is one of the best alpine racer of all time if not the best. He is not only a great alpine racer but also a great athlete. They had to change the sport just because he always won.
I think Ingemar Stenmark is one of the best athletes of all time; he won 2 olympic gold medals, 1 olympic bronze medal and 86 world cup medals! (Also some other medals to). They had to constantly change the rules because he was too good! I have heard that in Sweden, people stopped whatever they were doing just because he was on the television. Even the parlament stopped!
That, if I have to say so myself, is a great athlete.
In Madonna di Campiglio in 1974, his first, of 86 WC victories, he fell in the first run, which means you are out. But being new to the sport Ingemar didn't get it, so he got up and climbed back up the piste to pass the gate legally and ended up 2nd last. At that time, only the best 5 in the first run got to start in reversed order in the 2nd run. So Ingermar, ending as number 26 in the first, started as number 26 in the 2nd. But in the 70s the pistes were not as well prepared as they are today, so when it was Ingemars turn, most of the snow was gone. Everyone knew the race was over after the first 5 skiers. Paolo de Chiesa had given his victory interview, the T.V. crews were packing up, the crowd was leaving, but then comes Ingemar, starting as number 26, skiing on grass... and wins
She is the best of all time in the sport with the highest vo2max-test (that means how much you can breathe out per minut and kilo of your body) and the sport that takes most calories to practise, cross country skiing! Despite having 3 years of hard time, she worked to the top again to dominate the sport for years.
The only person who should be on this list is Bjoergen. Try doing what she does for a few moments (chasing Johaug) and then tell me that there's someone who is a better athlete than her.
He is like Willie Mays but better.
Greatest rightfielder in baseball history. Great hitter, including 4 batting titles. 12 gold gloves, led the national league in assists 5 times, a cannon for an arm. 1966 national league mvp. 1971 world series mvp. Hit safely on 14 straight world series games. 12 or 13 all star game appearances. But above all, probably one of the greatest humanitarians ever. Lost his life aiding the victims of a Nicaragua earthquake on December 31st 1972. He should be way above 291st place on this list...
