Top 10 Avatar: Legend of Korra Characters

The Top Ten
1 Korra Avatar Korra is the title lead character in Nickelodeon's animated television series The Legend of Korra, in which she is depicted as the current incarnation of the Avatar, responsible for maintaining peace and balance in the world.

I like her, it was a new change compared to Aang but it was a nice new change...I don't get the hate against her! She has such great development, she is more complicated, and she has faced so much! I LOVE her design and I like her personality. SO BYE BYE HATERS!

Everyone says she's the worst avatar, but she defeated a communist uprising, the literal spirit of darkness, a group of anarcho terrorists, and a fascist dictator. But noo, she's the worst because connections.

Korra has a great character development. She is more complicated than Aang and that is her weakness. But, in some way, this is the reason I don't like her. Aang lost everone he loved and lived knowing he was missing for 100 years, and Korra, well, had an almost normal childhood. While Aang was very nice to everyone, Korra was very egoistic and had many emotional issues. Later she became better, but still, Korra is a difficult character, in a good but also in a bad way.

2 Bolin

The sole reason team avatar ever existed in the first place, hilarious lines, often ruins moments in funny ways, can't keep a secret, has the ability to make friends with the bad guys, freaks the heck out way too often, extremely excitable, pro bender, lava bender, dates Opal (my personal favorite love interest character aside from Zhu Li), gets betrayed by his brother but forgives him like later that same night, oh and did I mention Pabu!

Bolin was seriously the only reason I originally stuck with this show as I wasn't the biggest fan of it. But he REALLY made the show.

3 Asami

Asami got dealt a pretty tough hand her mother was killed, her father tried to kill her, she was given one of the biggest companies in the world at 19 while it was going under, she was ruined, stepped on, cheated on, and finally after reconciling with her father, she watched him die right in front of her. Even through all of that, what would have turned a lesser person hostile or even evil, she remained devoted, loving, caring, generous, and well rounded.

She is so smart and cool and pretty! She also loves Korra and is her girlfriend! She is a really good driver and she can have any car she wants. That's how epic she is. She also builds really big airships. She looked after Korra when she was in a wheelchair. She built the sand sailer in the desert. She wears fire nation clothes and she has a good backstory (with her dad being an equalist and also her mother dying). I also love her glove and her martial arts.

4 Lin Beifong

Very self sacrificing. Strong independent character who devotes her life to others.

Kind of wish she didn't get her bending back so soon.
Really love though.
She definitely deserves her Top 3 spot.

Lin is so great. She is Toph's daughter and the chief of police. Total badass.

5 Amon Amon is the main antagonist in the first season of The Legend Of Korra and the charismatic and mysterious leader of the anti-bending terrorist organization known as the Equalists.

Amon was a compelling, mysterious, and badass villain. His platform that bending enabled evil had some logical depth to it and he furthered his agenda with carefully crafted and executed plans, often outsmarting police. As a master of blood bending, water bending, chi-blocking, hand to hand combat, and bending removal, he was a force to be reckoned with and perhaps only comparable to avatars in terms of raw power. I remember the Avatar fanbase went nuts when he resisted Tarrlok's blood bending. Upon learning his back story, I was inspired by how much he had learned and overcome on his own and by his love for his brother.

6 Varrick

Eccentric-yes-sometimes mind-numbing, annoying, ignorant, arrogant, stupid, and lots of..."other" things, but yes, he is eccentric.

The show was a long and very bumpy road that sometimes took itself too seriously. This is why the show greatly appreciated comic reliefs; the erratic twists and turns of Varrick gave myself much needed chuckles that the overall show lacked.

If you hate this comic-relief character than you have no soul or heart. He is so developed but I personally would NEVER work for him even though I love him.

7 Zaheer

Amazing character that had so many epic moments. And who can forget that whole "Enter the Void" speech? He was the only airbender to attain the ability to fly on the the show without a glider. Probably the most powerful bender ever that was not the Avatar.

An idealistic anarcho-terrorist, convincing and intimidating both as a villain and a dark mentor. An interesting parallel to several lead characters at once, and very believable as the final opponent in his season.

I think zaheer is a powerful airbender and a patient and charismatic man and I don't count him as a villain. He has done some bad stuff but he was wise and sometimes kind too

8 Tenzin

Tenzin is a great take on a 'wise master' cliche because, despite all his skill and knowledge, he isn't wise. He tries to follow the image of a spiritual leader so much, despite feeling deep inside that he's not worthy, and this inner struggle (with Tenzin gradually getting to overcome more and more of his complexes) doesn't get old over the whole series. Him being too serious makes for some nice soft comedy as well.

I feel that Tenzin is so underrated. He literally did so much for the avatar, even sacrificing like the air bender dynasty for the avatar. He deserves so much more credit than he gets.

9 Mako

I was totally wrong to that Mako doesn't deserve to be on the list. I mistook for the list of Worst Avatar Characters. To make up for it, I declare that he totally deserves to be on this list due to his personality being like mine.

It sickens me that there are people who hate Mako for who he is. If they hate him, they should just let him be and keep their damn opinions to themselves. Besides, I'm sick of serious people like him getting slammed for not being funny. I'm not fond of funny people like Sokka and Bolin. Hell, more people in this world prefer funny characters to serious ones. But I'm not one of them and never will be.

10 Jinora

She is a genius little girl that is a complete boss. Who wouldn't like her? She is imperfect which makes her perfect. If that even makes sense. I love Jinora. I normally like one of the main team for stories and stuff but Jinora is too epic so yeah she's my favorite. Well tied with Tenzin. They are both super cool. But anyway vote for her please if you agree with me that she should be higher on the list.

Jinora is smart and kind and a great airbender. She's eleven and she can explain how a radio works. How many eleven-year-olds do you know can explain how a radio works? Also she's more or less tied with Aang as the youngest airbender to receive tattoos - Aang was eleven or twelve when he got his, and Jinora was around eleven or twelve at the end of Book 3, when she got hers. Also Furryfoot is so cute!

The Contenders
11 Kuvira

Kuvira is the best in the series. In reality, she is not a bad person; she just took the idea of unity too far. Additionally, her parents dropped her on the streets when she was eight, as if she meant nothing to them. She was doing what she thought was right, but she was just misguided. That's all. So, give Kuvira some slack, okay? How would you feel if your parents left you on the streets when you were eight? All she wanted was a united Earth Empire, and technically, she had the right to take back Republic City; it was Earth Empire territory after all. Sorry, but Kuvira is still my favorite character in the series.

12 Wan

Wan is a beautiful embodiment of all it means to be an Avatar. His story arc is arguably the most well-developed and engaging part of season 2, and although it can stand alone as a solid, independent story, it also serves to develop Korra's struggle and character. Wan gives insight into who the Avatar is and what his/her place is in the universe, reminding us of the scope and depth of the Avatar universe; something that is sometimes lost amidst all the action. If nothing else, Wan deserves to be on this list for emphasising the inner struggle and the constant change that characterises the fight for balance. In short, Wan and his story revisit everything inspiring and amazing about the Avatar epic.

13 Eska

My favorite character! she is amazing. Bolin! laugh at my humorous quip! she is so underrated.

14 Meelo

Meelo is an artist, airbender, tamer of lemurs and lady's man. What more could you ask for in a character of Avatar. Also he can fart bend and be the leaf, which is pretty cool too.

Meelo is amazing, seriously, cutest little air bender ever. Now I'm going to write a useless sentence so this thingy tells me my comment is good.

Look to your left! Look to your right! One of those people will not make it out of here alive!

15 Zhu Li

Zhu Li is by far my favorite character, and I don't think anything can change that. I love the humorous situations she is put in by Varrick, and her annoyed reactions to them. She does so many random things for Varrick without questioning him, and always seems to "Do the Thing" at the right time.

Okay Zhu Li is just fierce. I love how she is so fiercesome. For a supporting character she really hits above her weight class. Its really incredible the amount of character development we get to see in supporting characters like this. She is devoted, resourceful, intuitive, genius, nurturing, insightful - there is a lot we can learn from her character - and I wanted to give her a boost here! Rock out Zhu Li we <3 you!

16 Ghazan

So relaxed as a person. Id have a beer with him. His name Ghazan. If anyone deserves to call the Earth his elements, it's a guy called Ghazan.

17 Ming-Hua

Not my most favorite character, but definitely amazing.

Great character. Unique armless waterbender and by the way played by the same person who played Azula.

18 Naga
19 Opal

She is so cute bolin the dumbo does not deserve her . It's cool a granddaughter of toph is a air bender

First, why do you think that Opal is terrible? Opal is kind and smart and Bopal is awesome.

20 Toph Toph Beifong is a fictional character in Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, voiced by Jessie Flower in the original series and Kate Higgins and Philece Sampler in the sequel series.

Woohoo! She is epic! I was grinning when she made her appearance in both Avatar The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. I love Toph! She is amazing!

Why are other people living now without adding Toph to the list?
She was beautiful every time even though she was old. Her rudeness, beauty, obstinacy, moves... Ah-ah! After all, I fell to pieces when I heard that her back is in pain. Don't think bad thoughts, don't think! I can't live wthout her :'(

Aside from her stubborn attitude at times, Toph is a really impressive bender and a great character.

21 Pabu
22 Bumi

Funny and strong without bending.

23 Unalaq
24 Zuko Prince Zuko is a fictional character in Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Zuko is a master firebender and his younger sister is Azula . He is the son of Prince Ozai and Princess Ursa .
