Toughest Characters On Avatar: The Last Airbender

Really? The blind girl? Put her in sand or in water, let's see how hard she'll try to stand still! I don't deny her toughness when she's standing over Earth, but if everyone was on their element, no one could beat Aang. But, yeah, she's quite toph. I mean tough.

She reminds me of Jayfeather (another of my fabourite chatacters) with her awesome toughness, her cool powers, her joking about her blindness, and her independence. She is the most powerful earth bender and the only metal bender.

Let's see... She can bend metal, which no other bender can. Even though she's blind, she's able to hear what's going on and always gets the edge over everyone. She's able to detect any kind of sneak attack. She's a living lie detector. On top of all that, she beat The Rock... I mean, The Boulder.

You really don't get much tougher than that.

The only reason Toph wasn't the one to defeat the Fire Lord is because the creators didn't want the finale to go for 2 seconds.

No matter how evil, insane, or downright unstable she was, she had a tough exterior and a relatively stable mind for about half the series. If this is about physical toughness and not overall toughness, she takes the cake.

She's tough, though she still sucks. Forever good side character.

He took rocks to the gut, waves, ice, air currents, two lightning bolts, starvation, swimming in arctic water at night during the winter, an explosion, nearly drowning, exhaustion, dehydration, assassins, and a fireball to the face, and walked it all off. He's shattered iron, wood, and steel with kicks and punches, has managed wall runs, acrobatics, the splits, and twenty-foot jumps like it was nothing. He's endured his father's and sister's abuse since he was born, his mother's disappearance since he was nine, being banished and hunting the Avatar since he was thirteen, and was forced to rule his country from the age of sixteen on up, and made it out not only sane, but as one of the most good-hearted people in the entire franchise. He's physically tougher and stronger than anyone on this list and mentally stronger than even his sister, who driven insane from the same pressure he had to endure.

How is he not #1?

Duh, guys are you forgetting he is the god damn Avatar. When he is in the avatar state then none can beat him, forgot when he whopped Fire Lord Ozai's Ass.

HOLD ON. just cause Aang's the happy go lucky positive one doesn't mean he isn't tough. he should be number one, HE IS THE AVATAR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! he defeated "the biggest baddest man" in the series

Should be number 1! Sure Toph may look tough but Aang has been through much more than any one in the series. He is ahead of Katara too. Look how much he suffered, he lost everything, and the fact that he has to fight the most powerful person in the world. He has been through all of that yet he chooses not to be a whiny bitch like Katara. #Respect

He is definitely the toughest. Remember when he was working out in the prison.

He broke out of prison all by himself without firebending (remember, the eclipse). He should be higher.

This guy makes every man feel really out of shape and he was able to "shoot fire from his brain", as Sokka stated.
By the way he is the most intriguing person ever in cartoon existence with just as much character development as Zuzu.

I'm sorry, Jet is just a horrible character in my opinion.

He's been through a lot and stuff, but that changes nothing. Worst character in the ATLA show 3rd worst in the ATLA universe behind Ikki and Kuvira.

Sokka went through a lot, and grew from a messy boy to an funny Men.
Even if he's not a bender he did everything he can to protect Katara and the others.
And remember that when he would have had a chance,he had no problem to kill ozai instead of aang. (or the melonlord ) Ps sry for my bad english.

He can take people's bending away permenantly, something nobody but the fracking AVATAR could do.
