My Honest Thoughts on Avenged Sevenfold

Not sure why compared to so many bands of the 2000s, why everyone thinks this is the greatest band of the bunch. In all honesty, A7X bores me to tears. The riffs range from meh to passable, and the vocals are really obnoxious. Not a fan of M. Shadow's vocals, his voice kinda rubs me the wrong way. It sounds too high pitched, and whiny for my tasting. I hear you already typing "BUT CHESTER BENNINGTON IS 10X WHINIER", yeah no Chester at least can sound tolerable and doesn't make my ears bleed.

The lyrics aren't really that interesting either, they're about as average as you can get. The instrumentation is okay, and the vocals really make me uninterested. I think that a majority of 2000s rock singers sound more impressive than M. Shadows. Benjamin Burnley from Breaking Benjamin, Brent Smith from Shinedown, Shaun Morgan from Seether, Chester Bennington, and so much more are better than him vocally. His voice might be "unique" but that doesn't make it good.

They have one okay song, and that's Hail to the King. Even that song is kinda boring, and mostly average in lots of way. Fox, I know that you think this band really stands out. But to me, they stand out about as much as a screaming kid in a Wallmart. Not heinously bad, just really boring. I've heard worse music, but I've definitely heard better music as well.

I don't see the appeal to this band, and probably never will. I think they're more overrated than LP in all honesty. Sure LP gets lots of attention, but A7X gets like X10 more attention. However, being overrated isn't necessarily bad and in this band's case they're just kinda meh. I'm honestly not a fan of them, but if you're a fan of them good for you.

I'm glad that you can find something more than meh, from them which kinda surprises me. Do I hate this band? No, but I don't like them either. They're just borderline kinda in the middle for me, plus whenever I hear their songs on a music streaming service I probably skip them.
