Power Metal lead vocalists have to be very good by default because vocals are one of the focal points of power metal. This holds for the backing vocalists as well.

Very often backing vocalists in Power Metal are lead singers for other bands, or were lead singers for the same band.

1 Amanda Somerville Amanda Somerville is an American singer-songwriter and vocal coach, known primarily for her work with many European symphonic metal bands.

She provided backing vox for many power metal and symphonic metal bands, supergroups and side-projects (studio and live): Avantasia, Epica, Kamelot, Edguy, Kiske/Somerville, Primal Fear, After Forever, Aina, Elvenking, and more.
She also has solo albums where she sings lead vox (5 solo albums as of 2017).

2 Kai Hansen Kai Michael Hansen is a heavy metal guitarist and vocalist. Hansen is the founder, lead guitarist, and vocalist of power metal band Gamma Ray. He is also the co-founder and former member of German metal band Helloween.

He started as a lead singer for Helloween but later focused on lead guitar and backed Michael Kiske's vox.
In Gamma Ray he originally provided backing vox for Ralf Scheepers but later switched to lead vox when Ralf left.
