I see that even the article under their name on this site says "Staind was a heavy metal band formed in...".
But to me they aren't metal - they are a punk-influenced band, with hard rock, alternative, post-grunge and even pop elements. - Metal_Treasure

@LightningBlade - I can only guess why Encyclopaedia Metallum don't consider them metal but I will try. It's not because they have Christian lyrics. It's because their music is mostly metalcore and metalcore is "core" (i.e. punk) influenced by metal. Punk prevails over metal. Same for A7X and deathcore bands. - Metal_Treasure
