Top Ten Bands Influenced by Nirvana

The Top Ten
1 The Foo Fighters

Since they are first, and should be really I will comment here. AIC formed before Nirvana (3 years before). Pearl Jam was coming together at the same time as Nirvana and already had much of their influence set from Mother Love Bone, etc. Sonic Youth is on here and they formed nearly 10 years before Nirvana. Nirvana influenced quite a few in ways I am sure, but the 3 I mentioned and others no, and all of them were talented enough at the same time to not need said influence regardless.

Dave Grohl is obviously a brilliant musician and songwriter on his own, but if he hadn't been apart of Nirvana when they made it big, he would not have been able to create a whole other band with great songs.

Well obviously this is number one because this bands lead man is obviously in Nirvana and their music even sounds like nirvana in a way. But their both greatly epic bands

I had a difficult time deciding between Foo Fighters and Rise Against, but Everlong is too good of a song to not admire this band just slightly more.

Green Day is a great band, whether you agree or not. Just look at all the popularity, all the haters, and most notably known as the best live band in the world.

I would say that Green Day is more of a contemporary to Nirvana. I did some research and Green Day came out with their first recording a year after Nirvna did. But I love them both

I would like to vote for Green Day, Foo Fighters, rise against, and Alice and chains?

3 Rise Against Rise Against is an American hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1999. I'll bring home the Turkey if you'll bring home the bacon. Weezer is awesome! Blue album all the way!

Kuomo has stated himself that Cobain heavily influenced him and Weezer! At least according to Wiki

If you listen to songs like "adam's song" you can hear nirvana's influence in not only the sound of the music but also the lyrics - parts of "adam's song" and "come as you are" are extremely similar. ("i took my time, I hurried up, the choice was mine, I didn't think enough. " -adam's song + "take your time hurry up, the choice is yours, don't be late. " -come as you are)

Dude their logo is so similar to nirvana's

That log though

6 3 Days Grace

It's Three Days Grace, not 3 Days Grace, but they are awesome!

8 Seether Seether are a South African post-grunge band founded in May 1999 in Pretoria, South Africa. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they adopted the Seether name.

Seether are by far the closest thing I've heard to Nirvana, with the exclusion of Foo Fighters. Shaun Morgan and the rest of the band are fantastic. Not all of their album have been really great, but they always have a four or five songs that are really memorable from an album. Broken, Fine Again, Sympathetic, Love Her, Cigarettes, F*** It, Pig, Out of My Way, Rise Above This, Breakdown, Fake It, The Gift, Remedy, Words As Weapons, Here And Now, Country Song, Für Cue and No Resolution are the best songs from them and are all awesome.

It's an awesome band with Alice in Chains influences also, the voice sounds similar to Nickelback. But better.

How is 30 seconds to mars on here but not seether!? Shaun morgan is way better than jered leto.

Seether should be 1 or 2

9 Evanescence Evanescence is an American alternative rock/alternative metal band. It was founded in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

This should be on the list for top 10 artists because of how similar the style of these groups are. Songs like "Dead and Bloated" and "Creep" definitely sound similar to Nirvana, Way more than Alice in Chains.

The Contenders
11 Bush Bush are a British post-grunge/alternative rock band formed in London, England in 1992. The band found their immediate success with the release of their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994, which is certified 6× multi-platinum by the RIAA.

They are the British Nirvana, how the heck are they not on this list!? Listen to the song Swallowed, it's 100percent like Nirvana!

Bush is definitely the softer version of Nirvana.

Bush is one of the best grunge bands of all time.

They sound very much nirvana

12 Alice In Chains Alice in Chains is an American grunge/alternative metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley.

Yes there is no way was AIC influenced by Nirvana. The nucleus of AIC (Staley/Cantrell) were performing together in the mid to late eighties. And were also the first band of their ilk signed by a major label. Bleach was a Subpop local limited release in 1989 by the way. It was re-released after the success of Nevermind which itself took well over a year to build any kind of momentum sales wise.

NO WAY WAS ALICE IN CHAINS INFLUENCED BY NIRVANA! Please People... Alice's Facelift album came out before Nirvana's Bleach album, and did better I might add... AIC shouldn't even be on this list.

Actually, ALC's facelift came after nirvanas bleach. Nirvana was changing music way before Alice in chains did. Also, bleach had a bigger impact on music today than facelift did..

They sound nothing like Nirvana at all. They are more melodic. They have different style of lyrics and the vocals are different. Who put this on here?

14 30 Seconds to Mars Thirty Seconds to Mars (commonly stylized as 30 Seconds to Mars) is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1998. The band currently consists of brothers Jared and Shannon Leto.

Thank you Nirvana for bringing us 30 Seconds to Mars! There is a lot of Nirvana-ish themes in the second album, and even some similar lyrics.

Jared leto had confessed in an interview that nirvana (esp. Kurt) had given him the "permission" to create.

The Story has Nirvanish sound guitar but the progression in Was It Dream and The Story is The Cure influence

30 Seconds To Mars soundwise is mix of U2 (Third Album), and The Cure (Seconds Album) Was It Dream sounds same as prayers for rain... Nirvana

15 Muse Muse are an English alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. They've won several awards including 5 MTV Awards, 8 NME Awards, 2 Brit Awards, and 2 Grammy Awards.

Them throwing bunch of Nirvana riffs in their live shows should be enough to put them in the top 10 at least... While Matt's riffs is purely inspired by Tom Morello, Matt's (and the rest of the band) energy in live clearly comes from Kurt Cobain. Their debut songs has a lot similarities and energies of Nirvana songs.

Frontman Benjamin Burnley Cited That Nirvana As His Biggest Influence. However, During One Show, Ben Knocked Over A Microphone (Just Like Kurt Cobain Did Onstage) And Cracked It.

The influence is unique, you can see the grunge escence exalating drom their sound's... Man such a damn noise... Her out Psicho, She Hates Me, Blurry, Control and Famous.

Awesome Band but they got a bad reputation, which is sad.
