Top Ten Best Bands to Listen to After a Breakup

I think we can all agree that breakups suck, and getting through them can be very trying. Thankfully, there are more than a few bands out there to help us along.
The Top Ten
1 Staind Staind was a post-grunge/alternative metal band formed in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995.

Staind are very good at writing about the pain of life in general, which of course includes relationships. My personal favorites are Right Here, Tangled Up In You, and while they aren't necessarily breakup songs, you can never go wrong with Mudshovel or Raw.

2 Red Red is an American Christian alternative metal/alternative rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. The band was formed in 2002 by brothers Anthony Armstrong (guitarist) and Randy Armstrong (bassist), along with lead vocalist Michael Barnes.

Talk about a band that can cover some serious relational pain. I would personally reccomend Lie To Me (Denial), or if you're feeling a bit angry, If We Only and Damage are perfect.

3 Bullet For My Valentine Bullet for My Valentine are a Welsh metalcore band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. Three Days Grace seems more worthy of first place to me. For one let me name some TDG breakup songs: I Hate Everything About You, Gone Forever, Bitter Taste, Over and Over, On My Own, Let It Die, Last to Know, Wake Up, Someone Who Cares, etc. I like Staind but when it comes to rock break up songs is theThree Days Grace king of modern rock break up songs.

Couldn't agree more. This band is all I've been listening to after being dumped a few weeks ago. So relatable. Everything from the lyrics to the sound in Adam Gontiers voice. Never knew how much this band could help you through a break up til recently.

5 Stabbing Westward

For the almost all of you who have never heard of these guys, Katatonia are a band from Sweden that originated as a doom metal band, but have since become more of a gothic rock act. Lyricist Jonas Renkse certainly knows how to write a good breakup song, as evidenced by songs like Ghost of the Sun, My Twin, and For My Demons. Definitely go check these guys out if you haven't already.

I used to sit down and cry to Katatonia for hours each day when I had depression. It didn't make me happy, but it sure provides comfort. Would recommend!

OK, so if you have never listened to any of Linkin Park's songs, let me tell you this: there is a lot of screaming. Like, a lot. From what I think, their song "A Place For My Head" probably has the most. Also, their songs are usually VERY DARK. For example, here is part of their song "Crawling": By the way, they're screaming during this part.

Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

And yes, I typed that from memory.

Just so you know, I'm not saying that Linkin Park is a bad band, they're actually really awesome! I'm surprised they're not is the top 10.

Good for anything, and they have very good emotional songs dealing with a different sort of break up... the Rev dying. This makes them a great choice for dealing with break ups. Just listen to "So Far Away" if you're sad or "Little Piece of Heaven" if you're on the angrier side of things.
