Just like AC/DC this band has easily been mistaken for Metal. Guns N' Roses like AC/DC is hard rock not metal.

Uh. Most bands are rock here. You should have left the word rock out of this list.

They aren't metal or punk. But they're hard rock. And hard is a genre of rock.

2 My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013, and again from 2019 to present day. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

This is an interesting case - I wouldn't say they are metal, alternative or not. But alternative rock - yes. I don't trust wiki very much when it comes to metal subgenres but I would agree with wiki on the genres played by My Chemical Romance - alternative rock, emo, pop punk, post-hardcore, punk rock.
No metal among them. But BoredJeff02 correctly identified the "alternative" nature of the majority of their songs.

Addition to my first comment: when a band plays different subgenres, it's more difficult to say what they are. My Chemical Romance have mostly alt rock songs but also punk-based songs.

They don't sound punk like, they sound more alternative metal than Punk.

3 A Day to Remember A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. Nirvana's grunge all right but not metal in the slightest.

5 5 Seconds of Summer 5 Seconds of Summer are an Australian pop-rock band from Sydney, Australia, that formed in 2011. The group were originally YouTube celebrities, posting videos of themselves covering songs from various artists during 2011 and early 2012. They rose to international fame while touring with One Direction on the Take Me Home Tour.

They think calling themselves punk would make them cool, talented. But it's wrong. One can be talented or cool from any genre. If he/she/they try hard.

They are the least punky band that ever linked.

Their not punk at all...

Rolling Stone named "Radioactive", which holds the record for most weeks charted on the Billboard Hot 100, the "biggest rock hit of the year".

Imagine Dragons is Pop. Pop is better than Rock. This proves Imagine Dragons is good. Anyone agree?

Pop/Electronic band yes but rock? No just no...

7 Fuel

This band commonly known for the song Hemorrhage In My Hands is no where near Metal at all.

Quite an easy misconception AC/DC is Hard Rock no where near Metal at all.

Pop punk isn't punk, it's a poser genre. Just because three dudes dye their hair and wear eyeliner doesn't automatically make you punk. Punk is definitely not a form of pop music either.

Real Punk: Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, and Rise Against.

Fake Punk: GREEN DAY, Blink 182, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte.

Green Day's punk so they really don't belong here.

The Contenders

After hearing what Metal_Treasure said about Staind I don't find it hard to see why. I thought they were metal at first but they aren't their mellow which is a difference.
