Green Day "will be remembered" in twenty years? The only thing that will be remembered is how badly they stank.

5 The Doors The Doors The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore.

Yes, I'm sure that bands like The Doors, The Who, The Ramones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, all of which have released some of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time, will be forgotten in the next 20 years, despite having influenced multiple bands in the process. No, they'll be forgotten, unlike Green Day, who I'm sure will be remembered as a timeless band, especially since they had those last three albums which had mixed reviews. - ArchAces

The Doors are not losing popularity. Young kids don't hear them on their favorite station, because they have not put out any new music in 45 years. However, once those kids start to want to branch out from the vapid wasteland of current music, they inevitably find the Doors. Their popularity has remained steady for over 40 years now.

Nope, as long as there is rock music and swaggering frontmen in leather pants, Jim Morrison will always be the standard by which others are measured.

8 The Kinks The Kinks The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1963 by brothers Dave and Ray Davies.

I think the author of this list wants to say that these bands are great but unfortunately most of the young people don't know them. - Metal_Treasure

Let's inject some reason and context into this short-sighted argument. Have Beethoven and Mozart "been forgotten" these hundreds of years, even without the benefit of original recordings? Brahms? Wagner? Has Scott Joplin been forgotten more than a century later? Have Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa been forgotten 75 years later? Leadbelly? Robert Johnson? Mahalia Jackson? Odetta? Cab Calloway? Count Basie? Duke Ellington? Ella Fitzgerald? Les Paul? Buddy Holly? Muddy Waters? Howlin' Wolf? Willie Dixon? Little Richard? Jimi Hendrix has been gone 46 years...Point being, good music and its creators are passed down generation to generation. It sometimes just takes time for young people to "discover" why such music has endured. They just need to grow past that most
annoying phase of development wherein they're convinced they already know everything.

I don't understand this list. Why are all these good, classic bands here? This is quality music. If anything, Coldplay, Oasis, One Direction, and pretty much every new current band will be gone from everyone's memories before these guys all go. Except for the Ramones. They're forgettable, indeed. - BKAllmighty
