How I Became Addicted to Metal Music.

ryanrimmel Gemcloben did it, and now I kinda wanna do it.

So I was into the really bad rap/pop garbage that was played on the radio up until I was about 10. That year, AC/DC came our with "Black Ice" and as a celebration, Sirius XM radio made an AC/DC only station. My dad would listen to it in the car, and I was hooked on AC/DC. Few weeks later, I discovered Black Sabbath and became obsessed with them, and as a result of listening to so much Sabbath, I discovered Ozzy's solo career as well as Dip and Rainbow. I then discovered Classic Rock, which for about 5-6 years, was all I listened to, ranging from Led Zeppelin to Steve Miller and Pink Floyd, but I still listened to Sabbath religiously. During those 5-6 years, I discovered Metallica, and I listened to their more popular stuff like Enter Sandman, One, and Nothing Else Matters and liked them. I also was into Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and a little bit of Motörhead. Towards the end of last summer, I got more into Metallica, and I thought, "If I like Metallic so much, I'll probably like Anthrax and Megadeth too". I tried both of them and became hooked on them, and discovered Slayer in the process. I got addicted to Thrash and I was discovering bands like Annihilator, Sodom, Exodus, Testament, and Death Angel. After that, I got into Groove Metal, like Pantera and Lamb of God. It was around this time that I found TheTopTens, which introduced me to hundreds of bands. I found classic Metal bands and NWOBHM bands like Accept, Anvil, Diamond Head, Saxon, Angel Witch, and Mercyful Fate. Over this period, I found myself listening to amazing bands from all the different subgenres that I have never heard of, like Dream Theater, Tool, Candlemass, and Nine Inch Nails. One day, I heard of Helloween, and I assumed them to be a really heavy band and I had no clue what to expect. when I heard "Eagle Fly Free" I was blown away. Then I discovered Power Metal bands like Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Sabaton, Gamma Ray, HammerFall, Rhapsody, and many more. After this, I also discovered and became a huge fan of stuff I never gave a chance, like Grunge, Indie, Punk, Hardcore Punk, and modern rock in general. Apart from that, I have been discovering great underground metal bands for the last however-many months. I have gotten into some really heavy stuff that I used to make fun of, and never gave a chance. I still listen to all kinds of rock as well, and Pink Floyd will always be my favorite band.

After all this, I proudly call myself a "Metalhead"

Pink Floyd, amazing band with such skill.
Great post, you might like Opeth. One of my favourite metal bands. - IronSabbathPriest

Pretty similar to mine! Good post - visitor

Wow, this post is awesome! Congrats!
I see lots of similarities here - by the way I also like some non-metal bands like ACDC, Motorhead, Pink Floyd. I used to like Led Zeppelin but their rip offs just turned me off.
Well, I'm glad my list was so inspirational - Metal_Treasure

I personally think Motorhead is heavy metal, but that's just me. I've heard accusations against Zeppelin but I don't pay much attention to music conspiracy theories at all - ryanrimmel

Motörhead Is Definitely Metal - BeatlesFan1964

Wow. For someone as metal-obsessed as you, rr, I could never have imagined yourself when less than ten. - PositronWildhawk

Yeah, I like to forget that I was into that stuff haha. My favorite artist then was Chamillionaire (he sang ridin' dirty) haha - ryanrimmel

Can I just ask: why don't you follow any users? - visitor

I follow a limited amount of users, but I don't take advantage of that feature. I almost never look at the feed so there isn't much of a point for me. - ryanrimmel

Follow as a sign of respect. - visitor

Good post man - visitor

Do you think there's any metal that's appropriate for children? - visitor

All metal - ryanrimmel

I said this before on another post. If I've never discovered metal, I would be listening to country to this day. - visitor

I know this isn't related to metal or anything, but I would like to hear your opinion on Dada art. - visitor

Great post. Linkin Park is one of the first bands I liked and later quit, Limp Bizkit and Evanescence are becoming my other favorite bands. Actually I like heavy metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden. But LP, LB and Evanescence are my currently favorites. - 05yusuf09
