Before metal I love classic rock and I still love it
But first it was Metallica
Then maiden
And thousands more ( not kidding )

I became a metal fan thanks to Iron Maiden and Metallica - the first metal songs I heard and loved were theirs. I still love these bands wholeheartedly.
But I have discovered many other bands and currently I have a soft spot for cool underrated bands - not very popular new bands or forgotten old bands. It's just interesting to listen to bands that are far from the mainstream metal.
Iron maiden was my first favourite heavy metal band of all time along with metallica! If it wasn't for iron maiden I would've never got into metal music, and I still love them today

I think the first metal band I listened to was either Metallica or Iron Maiden. Both bands are awesome, with cool songs.

Although a few 1960's bands like Cream, Zeppelin, and even The Beatles experimented with styles that would later become known as "heavy metal", Sabbath was really the first group to isolate that sound exclusively, and the young rockers of the day [circa 1971] were absolutely mesmerized from the moment they first heard it.
My first metal band, and my favorite.

Seriously? This ain't a metal band.
This band wasn't an instant favorite of mine - I guess I wasn't ready for the complexity and uniqueness of their stuff (Hansi's voice was an instant favorite though). Now Blind Guardian is a top 3 band for me and #1 in 2015 because I can't stop listening to their 2015 album. It's strange because my favorite subgenres are thrash and death metal.
Blind Guardian originally wasnt really an instant favourite of mine to be honest, since I guess that I wasnt really into the complexity and uniqueness of them, originally, but ever since 2015, I couldn't stop listening to their recent album! Also even though back then at that time it wasn't my instant favourite, Hansi's voice was an instant favouirte of mine though and I absolutley adore their cover designs as well.
Just listen to cemetery gates and you will know how awesome this band is. Their guitar riffs have to be one of the best and most heaviest riffs I ever heard from a metal band.

I would like to know what is (are) currently the favorite metal band(s) of the people who got addicted to metal thanks to Disturbed. I would appreciate if somebody can tell something about this...
This is the band that started it all for me. I remember being in an art classroom at my highschool and the teacher put Amon Amarth's Pursuit of Vikings on the speakers. I got instantly hooked and I have listened to all of their albums countless times. This band is my #1 favorite and it made me a metalhead.
This band was an important phase of my development as a metalhead - my death metal experience started with them but currently I'm into technical death metal. Still love Amon Amarth, their riffs are very cool.
Hard rock, metal? This was the band that started it for me
Thanks to Annihilator, it introduced me to technical thrash metal to a whole new level along with other technical versions of metal subgenres. I still love them today!
Thanks to them I discovered the beauty of technical thrash and all other technical versions of metal subgenres. Still love them.
