20 Miss Sarajevo - Passengers

Passengers (U2 + Brian Eno) featuring Luciano Pavarotti.
This song evokes the everyday life in a city at war. The Siege of Sarajevo (Bosnia) was the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare, lasting from April 1992 till February 1996, and was not much covered by the media.
Bono produced a film based on Sarajevo's underground resistance movement, in order to raise international awareness about what was happening there. The film is a documentary by Bill Carter about a beauty pageant held in the midst of war-torn Sarajevo. The music video contains excerpts from the documentary with striking imagery, such as a shot of beauty pageant contestants holding up a banner with the words "DON'T LET THEM KILL US" as seen on the single's artwork.

21 One - U2
22 High Hopes - Pink Floyd
23 Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
24 Your Ghost - Kristin Hersh

With backing vocals from Michael Stipe (of R.E.M.), written by Kristin Hersh and later covered by Greg Laswell.
This song is a bit special for me, as we were in our late teens, two of my closest friends died unexpectedly in the space of 2 years. This is one of a few songs which are for ever related to them in my mind, I almost feel like I can "connect" to them listening to those songs.

25 Hyperballad - Björk
