Top 10 Best Animated T.V. Shows

The Top Ten
1 South Park South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show is about four boys, who are Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick, and their adventures in South Park, Colorado.

Now, I didn't grow up with this show either, but it got so high up on the list not just because of group mantality, but because it just does what it wants. It's a person, showing their views on pop culture. When people think of South Park, they usually think of something very raunchy and mature. And yes while it can be like that, it also so great because it, again, has the balls to do whatever it wants. It talks about pop culture topics through its interesting, yet hatable, characters. Yes these characters range from idiotic to just despicable, but still we watch them because we know that they have some humanity, even if it's for the evil things in life. This show shows humanity's strengths, weaknesses, and pop culture's terrible-ness, so you better RESPECT IT'S ATHORITEH!

If you can't stand the garbage shows that we have made lists about them watch South Park. You'll probably die laughing.

2 The Simpsons The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that originally started on April 19, 1987 as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show. It got its own series on December 17, 1989 and is still running as of 2023, making it the longest running animated sitcom. It is about a man named Homer Simpson and his family (wife Marge and children Bart, Lisa and Maggie and pets, Snowball II and Santa's Little Helper) going through a long series of misadventures.

This is one of the ones that I didn't grow up with. I've seen some old episodes in reruns before, and I think that the new ones I've seen and the old ones I've seen are great. The characters are great (especially Maggie) the jokes are clever, and the more I watch it, the less I focus on how weird everyone looks (Lisa's hair blends right into her skin). It's iconic as heck, funny, and on here because of group mantality.

The classic comedy animated family. While the newer ones don’t hold up as-well when compared with the original they are still better than family guy could ever be. The characters have so many different emotions. All in all one of the best comedy shows of all time

1989-present

This show is obviously not only one of the greatest shows of all time. It is defiantly the greatest animated show of all time.

This changed animated sitcoms forever! The Simpsons has been meh quite recently, but don't let that change your opinion of it. It influenced a lot of T.V. shows and T.V. to what it is today!

3 Family Guy Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter (Fat, Idiotic Dad) and Lois (Nagging Bitchy Wife), their children Meg (Socially Awkward Daughter) Chris (Fat, Idiotic Son), and Stewie (Sociopathic and Genuine Infant); and lastly Brian (Anthromorphic Pet Dog). The show... read more

This show, like a lot of other adult shows that started in the 90s, is kind of getting out of touch, somewhat in jokes and a lot in animation (I mean look at there mouths, they're just boring C shapes), but past Family Guy was great. I mean who didn't love "Road To..." or "FCC Song". Family Guy watched T.V. like we did, the only difference was that they were also IN the T.V.. The characters are great, the jokes were hilarious, and yes its cutaways and pop culture references were just to fill in the time slot, but if you're a true Family Guy fan, you can look past it.

Family Guy is all over the place, which does it even better than shows as The Cleveland Show attempting to be similar or even to rival it. Brian, and Meg are really something to put thought about. Neat it is well in accept as the positive vote to place it near the best position it should be a part of. True!

One of the crappiest shows of all time. A terrible remake of the Simpsons. You can even see it in the characters.
Homer-Peter Griffin
Marge-Lois
Lisa- kinda Meg (just bullied less and smarter)
Bart-stewie and Maggie-stewie
It’s terrible and the only character with a good personality is stewie the rest suck

4 Spongebob Squarepants SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator the late Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. SpongeBob is currently the most popular show on Nickelodeon, as well as the longest running show, running for 23 years, and is beginning its 13th season. The show revolves around a sea sponge called SpongeBob SquarePants and his adventures under the... read more

I know what you're thinking "Spongebob was annoying", but if you're a 21st century kid, you were in to this show at some point. I put this show here because it's, I think, the longest running animated kid show still on T.V.. It took inspiration form Tex Avery's wild takes and its humor, in its earlier seasons, was hilarious. I fell a little out of interest as new episodes role in, but that's because I'm getting older. Kids of the newer generation love this show and kids of our generation loved this show. I might not watch the show, but I hope that it goes on for more seasons, enertaining your kids, their kids, and their kids.

I loved this show, love it now, and will always love this show.

5 Avatar: The Last Airbender Avatar: The Last Airbender is an American animated television series that aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in an Asiatic-like world in which some people are able to manipulate the classical elements by use of psychokinetic variants of Chinese ...read more.

This show is one of those few kids shows that manage to balance out drama, comedy, and action without it being to intense for kids, too silly for adults, and still gives their characters a lot of motivation and character. The concept is so good that you believe that the story was either made by a Japanese anime team, or was based on a manga. But nope, Americans did this and all of it's phenominal. Its animtation and characters are its hilights. I love Team Avatar, as well as Azula, I'm so glad she wans't killed and that she went insane (who am I kidding, she was kind of already insane). I also like how genuine each character's relationship is. And there are a lot of relationships: Aang to Katara; Katara to Sokka; Zuko to Azula; Zuko to Iroh;, Aang to Appa; Toph to Katara; Zuko to his father; Aang to the past Avatar [explodes with overwhelming character development]. I love the spin-off series too, but there will always the the first and foremost, which will always be the best.

If you're looking for a show with great plot, artful animation, complex and likable characters, grabbing action, and a sense of wonder and originality, literally nothing comes close. Be it live action, anime, or other animated T.V. shows, The Last Airbender is probably the best T.V. show ever. The Legend of Korra was almost as good and deserves to be in at least the top ten.

Good heavens, where do I start? It has incredible character development, the worldbuilding is phenomenal, and the magic system is fascinating, especially when you know it's based on real martial arts styles. And this isn't even MENTIONING the marvelous plot. This show deserves every vote.

Only people with bad taste think Family Guy, SpongeBob, and The Simpsons are better than this show, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Korra, Adventure Time,Teen Titans, and Young Justice.

6 Gravity Falls Gravity Falls is an American animated television series produced by Disney Television Animation that first aired on Disney Channel, and then on Disney XD from June 15, 2012 to February 15, 2016. The series follows the adventures of Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel in the fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, while on summer vacation.

This show would be higher up, but I'm falling A LITTLE out of interest because of its hiatus. But this show is still awesome. It's funny, has great main characters as well as a great villain. And it's one of those few kid shows nowadays that actually gives a cliffhanger. I'm not going to spoil it, but the cliffhanger still brings you in. The show is a great mixture of science fiction and fantasy (more fantasy) and I can't wait till Season 2. If you don't watch it, please do so that it doesn't go off the air.

If you need a reason to watch this show just watch the first episode and by the end you'll be staring at the Screen with your jaw hitting the floor. From Tourist Trapped to Gideon Rises, from Into The Bunker to Not What He Seems. Every episode raises the bar, keeps me coming back, and of course makes me smile from the jokes.

The animation, plot, story telling, music, characters, development, conclusion, everything was perfect about this show. I love this show.

As much as I despise its annoying fanbase, it's a great show that hides many things which makes it special from other animated T.V. shows out there

7 Rick and Morty Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Adult Swim.

2013-present
The newest series on the list, the show is about a mad scientist who takes his stupid grandson on many different journeys. And it is also from cult comedy God, Dan Harmon.

This show is a newcomer. But it has surpassed every animated T.V. in ratings and writing. Can't wait for season 3!

This should be top five, in between gravity falls and family guy

Pleasantly surprised to find this show. Very hilarious.

8 Regular Show Regular Show is an American animated television series created by J. G. Quintel for Cartoon Network that premiered on September 6, 2010. The series revolves around the lives of two friends, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby—both employed as groundskeepers at a local park.

I just love this show, you know who else loves regular show my mom.

9 Futurama Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company.

I like Futurama better than the Simpsons because I've seen more of it, and I like what I've seen. It shows a great world of tomorrow where you see something different everyday. You don't just see The Jetsons' flying cars and robots. You have characters that are funny, but that also have human emotions (even if a makority of them aren't human) and you have clever jokes and clever concepts. I mean, they threat Earth like it's a country. I don't even think that's possible. Thank you Zoidberg Jesus! It's sad that the shows off the air, but I enjoyed what I've seen, so LONG LIVE PLANET EXPRESS!

Futurama is great, I believe the year 3000 will be just like this.

This and the Simpsons are my favourite shows

10 My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is an animated children's television series based on the fourth incarnation of Hasbro's My Little Pony franchise. I can go a day in my life without ever meeting a brony. Other than the overzealous adults, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is an A+ show. It has some of the best themes, characters, and animation.

Very annoying fandom, I know. Very overrated as well. Still overall very enjoyable once you put the fandom and hype aside. 9.5/10

Quiet nice to watch even for a boy like me. Negative comments should just be ignored.

Why put this on top 11? This was the best show I ever watched

The Contenders
11 Death Note Death Note is a Japanese television drama anime series based on the manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The show is centered around Light Yagami - a promising highschooler and aspiring detective with a strong sense of "justice".

This show was actually meaningful, had a message and had an amazing plot/storyline that was obviously brilliantly thought out. death note actually was suspenseful/intense to the point I was literally at the edge of my seat at times. death note is actually so mature and so incredible I can't even express it in words, unlike every other stupid show on this list.

Hate anime. Love death note. That's seriously how amazing it is, so intense, just... The definition of amazing. Even anime haters will love this show, seriously just watch it. You won't be disappointed.

yes. I very much enjoyed watching this though after L died I was so bored and was really wanting him back as he was definitely my favourite character but I rate this highly

This should be number 1

I like to call this the "better version of family guy". There's always more of a story to follow, the jokes are also funnier and not repetitive.

This show is guaranteed to make you laugh at one point or another

Better than Family Guy in every way. Fact.

14 Beavis and Butt-head Beavis and Butt-Head is an American animated sitcom created and designed by Mike Judge. The series originated from Frog Baseball, a 1992 short film by Judge originally aired on Liquid Television.

There stupidity is funny

Should be a lot higher

15 Archer

2009-present
This James Bond spoof is defiantly one of the best shows on the air, with its witty jokes and talented cast, it defiantly deserves a spot on this list.

Best show of all time

16 Powerpuff Girls The Powerpuff Girls is an American animated television series created by animator Craig McCracken for Cartoon Network.

Blood in a show that looks like a little girl show? Awesome! My favorite show, it teaches little kids that reality is scary and not all happy and innocent, it is the sad truth about real life. Criminals robbing and stealing and doing other crimes is reality. I used to think PPG was lame and that it was going to be about three whiny brats that play fairy princesses and unicorns that are spoiled and weak. Then I actually watched the show, the music is amazing, the characters are relatable and not mary sues, and the show is barely even girly. It has awesome fight scenes and the villains are unforgettable.

So cute! Love the blood in the theme song.

Great show but reboot sucks

Best show ever!

17 Pokémon Pokémon, abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters and currently advertised in English as Pokémon: The Series, is a Japanese anime television series, which has been adapted for the international television markets. One of the best shows ever Scooby-Doo has everything.

Scooby doo is the best wish Casey casem could still be here to voice shaggy.

Did you copy that off of Wikipedia?

20 Batman: The Animated Series Batman: The Animated Series is an American animated television series based on the DC Comics superhero Batman.

1992-1995
This dark show about one of the best superheros ever, defiantly deserves a spot on the list.

This show rocks why is it so low.

21 The Amazing World of Gumball The Amazing World of Gumball is a British-Australian-German-American-Irish children's animated television series created by Ben Bocquelet for Cartoon Network.

Easily my favorite cartoon ever, funny, heartwarming, clever, and overall perfect

22 Star Wars Rebels Star Wars Rebels is an American 3D CGI animated television series produced by Lucasfilm Animation. Set fourteen years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and five years before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Rebels takes place during an era when the Galactic Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy.

This show is the best thing to come out of Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm, it is better than The Force Awakens in my opinion. I'd honestly rather see season 4 than see The Last Jedi, by like a LOT. This show has a beautiful soundtrack (especially season 1) and great characters. I think this (and The Clone Wars) is one of the best animated shows of all time. Star Wars never gets old, the idea of Jedi and lightsaber's and millions of cool characters and the soundtrack is great...It's been impressing people for 40 years, and not only that but with every year I am even more impressed. Keep it up Filoni, you know how to GET IT ON.

Some one place this in a higher rank? It's STAR WARS, and the movie franchise is made by Lucasfilm, and Rebels is a storyline in the middle of Star Wars. Rephrase: awesome as hell.

23 Adventure Time Adventure Time is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio)—a dog with the magical power to change shape ...read more.

This show could have easily failed, but why didn't it? Is it because of its story arcs, its animation, its characters. I thought it over, and I concluded to why I love it: its mythology is so intense and fantastical, that it seems like a fantasy Bible. As the show performs, the creators build and explore this fantastic world that is very realistic to ours. Like ours, it has people with goals. Like ours, it has people who are shaped by their pasts. Lise ours, it even has its own religion (Gob-ism, or Gob-ianity). It doesn't look at research to see what kids'll watch and it doesn't go by rules. It's completely built up on the creators' nostalgic memories of their childhood adventures into random imagination. It's a show that, if you take it too seiously, you'ld stop enjoying it, but also if you take it too lightly, you won't see its significance. Its funny, but dramatic. Action packed, but even very peaceful at times. It's just ta great show that allows us to stop thinking and be ...more

how is this not higher? this show is wonderful, amazing and is one of my favorite shows of all time

I've never been so attatched to a vampire... Marceline changed my life

Super under rated show.

25 Bob's Burgers Bob's Burgers is an American animated sitcom created by Loren Bouchard for The Fox Broadcasting Company. It premiered on January 9, 2011 and is still running as of 2022.

This hilarious series about a family who owns a poorly run and unsuccessful burger joint.
