61 Heathcliff - Sword Art Online Heathcliff - Sword Art Online Heathcliff is a fictional character who appears in the Sword Art Online series of light novels by Reki Kawahara.

Sorry, Death Gun, but no SAO villain comes as close as to my most favorite one out of all the SAO villains, and that is Heathcliff. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Come on, we can all admit Heathcliff was a really cool villain in Sword Art Online. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

Though he's a villain, he's really a cool one! Good fighter and Dreamer

Heathcliff or better known Akahiko Kiaba is hands down the most intelligent, coolest, best villain in my thoughts,I mean,he should at least be number 5 on the list, besides,he's way better then that rotten Sugou

64 Makishima Shogo - Psycho-Pass

One of the most satisfying main antagonists in anime. A great foil to a main protagonist, and a compliment to another

The mian man

65 Junko Enoshima - Dangan Ronpa Junko Enoshima - Dangan Ronpa

This little psycho is the definitely the most sadistic anime villain of all time. She murdered her boyfriend, impaled her own sister with dozens of spears for the sheer purpose of making an example, erased her friends' memories of the past two years, trapped them in a bunker they had made to survive the apocalypse that SHE CREATED, & manipulated them into murdering what they forgot were some of their closest friends, which were followed up with personalized, overly-brutal executions of the murderers (also designed by her). But why did she do all this? Did she have a score to settle or a title to claim? Nope. Just to satisfy her disturbing, fetish-like obsession of despair, whether it be from others or even herself. She even subjected herself to every prior execution from the killing game since she knew the despair of her life's work being ruined & dying a horrific series of deaths would bring such a massive quantity of despair upon her, enjoying every second of her ...more

Junko Enoshima is probably one of the best villains I've ever encountered in anime history. She's sadistic, intelligent and sexy. She's killed thousands, including her own sister and boyfriend for one reason. To feel despair. She willingly killed herself to feel despair. She has no reason for being a villain, no tragic backstory. She just wants to make everyone in the world for the worst kind of hopeless despair.

She's just lovable, entertaining, and I love how she can be such a great, evil villain without having pathetic reasons - she just wants to be evil

Just play the game.

66 Pain - Naruto Shippuden

Pain is a great villain and my favourite anime villain of all time. He was around just enough to be fresh every time you saw him. Unlike Madara, Pain actually interacted with Naruto, the main character for actual reasons. I think Madara was more of an antagonist to hashirama and that Naruto just got caught in the crossfire. Pain was an antagonist to Naruto first. His feats were more impactful and his Arc is seen as the last good Arc by many fans of Naruto.
Pain was able to talk Naruto down. He did the impossible. He had a solidified reason for what he was doing and it was incredibly thought out. I felt sorry for the guy and intimidated by him at the Same time. He wasn't able to blow up moons or continents like the top villains on this list, but his development is far superior to any of theirs. Pains technique was also the last bit of smart fighting we had for a while as the rest turned into a power level contest.
Most importantly, Pain's motive. Pain was able to get me to think. ...more

Darkest villain ever - Just read his quotes while listening his ost and you will understand why.

Without a doubt, the best villain in the whole series.

Pain is without a doubt the best villain in all of Naruto. He has a direct connection to the protagonist as he is the former student of the same master. The difference is that he grew up in a much different situation than Naruto. While Naruto's youth involved loneliness and bullying from the townspeople, Pain grew up seeing his family and friends slaughtered in a war set up for profit that his village had nothing to do with. These childhoods put the two characters into opposing sides while both had perfect legitimacy to their reasons for ending up where they did. Pain destroyed the leaf because the leaf destroyed his village and murdered his family and friends while Naruto fights pain for nearly the same reason.

Pain describes their situation accurately as a "cycle of hatred" that persists in the ninja world. He then questions Naruto on how he would go about solving the problem, and Naruto cannot give an answer to such a complex issue. Pain then states his solution to the ...more

67 Gilgamesh - Fate/Stay Night Gilgamesh - Fate/Stay Night Gilgamesh is a fictional character from the Japanese visual novel and anime series Fate/stay night by Type-Moon. He is the Archer-class servant of Tokiomi Tohsaka and a secondary antagonist during the Fourth Holy Grail War in Fate/Zero. He reprises his role as a secondary antagonist during the Fifth more.

Loved him in fate/zero more, but he was so calm and badass at the same time. His arrogance really made him stand out, he's in a league of his own that guy

He is a villain with class and style he has no one to compare with to him. He belongs among the heavens.

He should be on the top 10 or at least top 20

The guy's overpowered with his Gate of Babylon Noble Phantasm and he can be a badass douchebag while he's at it as well. Man, I love Gilgamesh. - ModernSpongeBobSucks

68 Kabuto Yakushi - Naruto Kabuto Yakushi - Naruto

He's just as twisted as his master, Orochimaru. I think that says a lot.

Kabuto Yakushi is unlike any of the major characters in Naruto. His back story has always been a mystery since his introduction in the first Naruto series. Orphaned as a child due to the war (no doubt the Ninja Wars), he was a complete nobody that joined up with Orochimaru and began integrating the born traits of other lab subjects in Orochimaru's stead. He wasn't born with a bloodline limit and a significant heredity like Sasuke nor was he given the essence of a kyuubi like Naruto. Like Sakura he had to pave his path on his own but has achieved many jutsu such as the reincarnation jutsu and has gained a Sage mode similar to Naruto's but in the fashion of a snake that not even Orochimaru achieved.

He has played a big part in the war that Madara instigating. I can't imagine how Madara would have managed without having Kabuto's reincarnated nin to fight.

69 Lucemon - Digimon Fusion

If digimon wasn't for kids, Lucemon would have easily made the top 10. His acts of innocence and kindness were so deceiving, he even fooled the fusion fighters, and me. When he became president of the sky zone, he only did that to gain access to the code crown. His digivolutions were insane not to mention creepy.

70 Juha Bach - Bleach

This guy made aizen looked like a kid who dropped his ice cream.

This guy... no words for him, he is best

Dude this guy should be in the top 7 at the least. He makes Madara look like a joke

Hmmm, now let's see here he killed god, who turned out to be his father, stole the powers and life force of all quincies he deemed as impure(He's the progenitor of the quincy race) via a technique called Ausshwalen.

His army the strenritter are basically the Nazi's of the Bleach universe only they have broken and hax abilities like Reality Manipulation, affecting fate.

Juha Bach's power is called the "Almighty" with this power he is basically omniscient, he sees the past, present and future and any ability of a person he sees in the future will be negated thus having no affect on him.

Oh and he stole the bankai of one of the strongest Shinigami in existence whose bankai was able to generate flames as hot as the sun, raise people from the dead etc.

Aizen may have been the definition of evil, but this guy is even more wicked.

Stole the powers of his soldiers while they were fighting the Shinigami and left them for dead while he and the elites ...more

71 Hao Asakura - Shaman King

He's like the most powerful villain ever. Seriously. Even in the manga, nobody can stop him. He's like a god himself. Aside from that, he can do whatever he wants without even stressing himself. He's always so calm and badass. So why is he even in this 34th place? Come on guys. You should watch this anime and see for yourself how he really is very strong.

Hao became a god... how many villains not only beat down the main characters but achieve their goal? This guy needs to be higher up.

Right after Sensui from YYH, Hao has to be my favorite shounen villain ever. His complexity and badassery know no bounds (i refer to the awesome manga, not the crap anime)

72 Broly - Dragon Ball Z Broly - Dragon Ball Z

He's not as powerful as majin buu or even close to the new villains in super so I don't know what this is all about.

He's the most powerful villain in all anime history. He's power grows every second- can become invicible!

He should be at #1

73 Solf J. Kimblee - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Solf J. Kimblee - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

This dude was my favorite part of the series. He was insane and brillaint. Every time he came on screen something awesome happened.

74 Fire Lord Ozai - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender is not "Anime". It was made by Nickelodeon in AMERICA. In other words, since it was not made in Japan, it is not "Anime". And yes, it does have to be made in Japan to be "Anime". When we Americans picture "Anime", we picture it being Japanese Animation. In other words, we wouldn't call something like SpongeBob SquarePants or Shrek "Anime", but we would call the Final Fantasy movies "Anime". "Anime" is just a Japanese word for animation, which they use to describe any form of animation made within Japan. In other words, they don't call American animation "Anime", therefore, they wouldn't call Avatar: The Last Airbender "Anime". - MottScurry

75 Kurozetsu - Naruto Shippuden
76 Alois Trancy - Black Butler Alois Trancy - Black Butler

I wouldn't really call him a villian, but he's the best!

77 Brago - Zatch Bell
78 Ryuga - Beyblade

He wants all the powers for himself

79 Meruem - Hunter x Hunter Meruem - Hunter x Hunter

He is practically the strongest character in all of anime. He is first introduced smashing his own mothers organs. Not only is he a ruthless antagonist but he is the almighty ruler of the chimera ants, who might I add originated from the dark continent, one of the most feared location in all of anime. It is also implied by the end of the Chimera Ant Arc that if not for the poison nobody, not even anyone on this list could defeat the great and holy king Meruem.

Great character development, strong, smart and *SPOILER* his death was the saddest I've seen in an anime. In those last moments, no matter how much you hate him, you WILL cry.

His development was 10 out of 10.

Greatest villain ever and by far the strongest character in hxh. He is truly a legendary king

80 Griffith (Berserk) Griffith (Berserk)

Gotta be one of the highest on the list for the worst wrongs done to the protagonist, how is he so low? This guy is pretty much one of the nastiest pieces of work out of all of them. Won't list what he did for spoilers, but for those in the know, all I have to say is that even villains have standards low as they are, and this guy crossed the line on a beyond ridiculous scale. I seriously don't think there is any other villain on this list who committed a more heinously evil offense than Griffoth did against their respective story protagonists (not counting all the other guys, they got off nice and light compared to Guts and Casca. It's pretty bad when death by mutilation, ripped apart and eaten by demons can be considered getting off lightly, but I think anyone who has seen the series would agree).

Griffith has to be one of the most sinister anime/manga villains of all time. What he did is something that people can never ever recover from. I feel the only reason Griffith is so low on this list is because Berserk is, despite its notoriety, a fairly unpopular series. If more people read it, I'm sure they'd see the horrors of what Griffith has done and he'd skyrocket. (I wish he'd actually be strapped to a rocket and shot off)

What a deep sense of despair and agony this series has because of Griffith. How- after all those years of fighting side by side and trusting each other faithfully- can you betray your brothers and comrades like that? Even after they risked their lives to save the lowlife, Griffith still betrays them like that? They should have left him in that torture cell to rot where he belongs.
He is and will always be my number 1 lowlife in any anime series.

One of the most original and best Villain in history of Manga...SERIOUSLY!
