Top 10 Greatest Cartoon Dogs

The Top Ten
1 Snoopy (Peanuts) Snoopy is a character in comic strip Peanuts. He first appears in the strip from October 4 1950. He often sleeps on the top of his dog house. He belongs to Charlie Brown. He was created by Charles M. Schulz. He also appears in all the specials and the 2015 Peanuts Movie.

Snoopy is the best dog ever. If you don't know who he is, then you're crazy! He's from Peanuts.

Best and cutest cartoon dog ever! I just love him!

Snoopy is the best animated dog ever!

2 Scooby-Doo (Scooby-Doo) Scooby Doo is a famous fictional dog character from the show Scooby-Doo Where Are You? He is the protagonist of his series .

Scooby-Doo has the most episodes and shows of any animated dog! What else do we have to say?

Almost all of these dogs except for Brian Griffin are awesome, but Scooby, Scrappy, Hong Kong Phooey, and Goober [the star from the show Goober and The Ghost Chasers who should be on this list] are my childhood heroes!

Scooby Doo is the best TV show with a dog in it.

3 Brian Griffin (Family Guy) Brian H. Griffin, popularly known without his middle initial as Brian Griffin, is a fictional character from the animated television series Family Guy.

Brian is rated similarly to Snoopy and has very sarcastic, subtle humor. Unlike Scooby, who's something of a scared, clueless idiot with an equally annoying nephew.

A very intelligent dog and one of the only characters to tame the psychotic Stewie.

The funniest, and probably the smartest, dog on TV. Should be number one in my opinion.

4 Courage (Courage the Cowardly Dog)

Scooby-Doo comes first, but my boy Courage is the second best! He is so adorable and, despite being so cowardly, he is actually very courageous.

No one can beat this coward who still goes to any length to save his mistress. This dog has made generations of entertainment.

The most legendary cartoon of the 90s. This cartoon will always be number one for me. Plus, the faces he makes are flipping funny. Oh, and the noises.

5 Pluto (Disney's Mickey Mouse) Pluto, also called Pluto the Pup, is a cartoon character created in 1930 at Walt Disney Productions. He is a yellow-orange color, medium-sized, short-haired dog with black ears.
6 Odie (Garfield) Odie is a fictional dog who appears in the comic strip Garfield by Jim Davis. He has also appeared in the animated television series Garfield and Friends and The Garfield Show.

I love Snoopy, but I love Odie too. He's the cutest puppy, cuter than Nermal! He also has a very nice personality. Odie would be an interesting star of the comic.

I'm surprised Jim Davis hasn't already made a spin-off comic strip where Odie's the main character.

This dog deserves his own spin-off comic!

7 Blue (Blue's Clues)
8 Santa's Little Helper (The Simpsons)
9 Clifford (Clifford the Big Red Dog)
10 Goofy (Disney's Mickey Mouse) Goofy is a funny-animal cartoon character created in 1932 at Walt Disney Productions. Goofy is a tall, anthropomorphic black dog with a Southern drawl, and typically wears a turtle neck and vest, with pants, shoes, white gloves, and a tall hat originally designed as a rumpled fedora . Goofy is a close... read more

11 Lady (Lady and the Tramp)

Unlike most modern day female protagonists, she is polite, reserved, sophisticated, intelligent, and ladylike, hence her name.

12 Droopy (Droopy)
13 Ren Hoek (The Ren & Stimpy Show)

This hilarious version of Peter Lorre is the example of a great cartoon dog. Voiced by the cartoonist and creator, John K, this character had some of the best scenes in cartoon history, such as the what I'm gonna do speech, space madness scene, and YOU EEDIOT! The show kind of jumped the shark when John K got fired, but regardless, Ren is one of the best cartoon dogs in history.

14 Jake the Dog (Adventure Time) Jake the Dog is, along with Finn the Human, a fictional character and one of the main cast in the American animated television series Adventure Time created by Pendleton Ward.

Why the heck is he #17? He's one of the funniest cartoon characters of all time!

15 Tito (Oliver & Company)
16 Astro (The Jetsons)
17 Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)
18 Underdog (The Underdog Show) Underdog is an American animated television series that debuted October 3, 1964, on the NBC network under the primary sponsorship of General Mills, and continued in syndication until 1973 (although production of new episodes ceased in 1967), for a run of 124 episodes.
19 Marmaduke (Marmaduke)
20 Muttley (Wacky Races)
21 Spike (Rugrats)

He might look like your average mutt, but as they say, "looks can be deceiving." He is actually a "Siberian Tiger Hound," which is really lucky for Tommy because his breed is extremely rare, highly valuable, and worth thousands of dollars.

Another great thing about Spike from Rugrats is he watches over the babies way more than Stu, Didi, or Grandpa Lou. He cares about them so much, in fact, he even thinks of them as his own babies. In the Rugrats Movie (1998), Spike saves the babies from a wolf much bigger than him.

Even when times get tough, Spike will always be by their side through thick and thin. And he is one of my all-time favorite cartoon dogs. Now that's what I call a true baby's best friend.

22 Georgette (Oliver & Company)
23 Charlie B. Barkin (All Dogs Go To Heaven)
24 Brain (Inspector Gadget)
25 Huckleberry Hound (The Huckleberry Hound Show)
