The Contenders: Page 5

81 The House of Gold & Bones, Part 1 - Stone Sour

Newer album, but has a great ongoing story, topped off with some advanced guitaring for Stonesour's usual. Some of the best hits of last year were off these albums such as "Absolute Zero", "Do Me A Favor", and "Tired". and other great songs without mainstream attention like "Gone Sovereign" and "The Uncanny Valley" are great ones. I'm sure this album will get more recognition during time, altogether these 2 concept albums will be certified platinum sooner or later.

82 The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 - Five Finger Death Punch

These 2 concept albums have their ups and downs, but ultimately I believe part 1 is the best. "Lift Me Up" ft Rob Halford is an amazing song, along with "Watch You Bleed" and the cover of LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" ft Tech N9ne. Don't really like the storyline, and I think there's too many covers in these albums along with featured artists, which is my only complaint. Part 2 had "Battle Born" which is a good one and a cover of "House Of The Rising Sun". I'd have to say Lift Me Up was my favorite song of 2013. The solo in Mama Said Knock You Out is very creative then their usual. If you're a heavy metal fan, or FFDP fan and haven't heard any of these songs, I highly recommend to take a listen!

83 Rise - Skillet

Best Christian concept album.

84 Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
85 Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
86 Mastodon - Crack the Skye
87 Mastodon - Blood Mountain
88 Blood On Ice - Bathory
89 Darkest Days - Stabbing Westward
90 Mike Oldfield - The Songs of Distant Earth
91 Triumvirat - Spartacus

Lesser known Krautrock-Band telling their prog-version of the story of Spartacus. Best track: 'The March to the Eternal City'.

92 Spliff - The Spliff Radio Show

Debut-album of the ex-Nina Hagen Band from 1980. Their only album in English is a satirical, very amusing portrayal of the music industry. A musical trip through many genres, from reggae to rock to punk and funk, even a bit of disco. Witty, intelligent lyrics.

93 Therapy ? - Troublegum/Infernal Love

Maybe not concept-albums in the usual sense, but one can easily detect a continuation between the songs, creating a disturbing story of love and despair.

94 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads

A collection of songs about various tales of 'Crimes of Passion'.

95 Die Toten Hosen - Ein Kleines Bisschen Horrorshow

The story of 'A Clockwork Orange' retold in songs (in German).

96 Aphrodite's Child - 666

Early Greek Prog-Band (feat. Vangelis and Demis Rousseaus) with their musical version of 'Revelation'.

97 The Bollock Brothers - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
98 Plasmatics - Maggot: The Album
99 Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
100 Frances the Mute - Mars Volta

Most complex conceptually, and musically, album I have ever heard. Rivaled only by the wall.
