Best Emerson, Lake & Palmer Songs
The ultimate prog rock composition. Has it all: Emerson's trademark hammond and synthesizers, complex rhythms and fantastic percussions, wonderfully played bass patterns, Greg Lake's poetic voice, mysterious lyrics, silly mythological storyline and an overall futuristic feel. Why I'm giving this one the edge over Karn Evil 9 1st is the brilliant composition and execution of the keyboard parts and the overall more "compact" nature of Tarkus.
Tarkus is basically the ultimate prog rock epic. Contains all that an incredible song should have. Especially part IV: Mass. Tarkus is up there with Echoes, Octavarium, Close To The Edge, 2112, and Suppers Ready.
Great epic! I especially love the way the music modulates during the second part, "Stones of Ages" and, of course, Emerson's incredible playing- that Hammond going for 20 minutes is orgasmic to my ears!
Why tf isn't this progrock essential in the top 10? It should in fact be number 1! Its ELP at their absolute best.
All the parts of it are masterful. And especially Aquatarkus, Stones of years and Battlefield.
Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
This is truly epic and my personally favourite
Got to be somewhere!
Toccata. The truly innovative and versatile being the most underrated song ever. I can never get tired of hearing this.
One of the best examples of the talent of these incredible musicians. Music at it’s best by those who knew how to play it.
The song of my life...
This song is amazing.
