His seventh studio album, Recovery was confirmed during a press release by Eminem's label on March 5, 2009 and was originally titled Relapse 2. In June 2009, Eminem said that he expected a release during the fourth quarter of 2009, with Rolling Stone reporting a November 2009 release date, but in November 2009, he stated that he would re-release Relapse, with extra songs, to hold fans over for the release of Relapse 2 in 2010. It was voted the most anticipated album of fall 2009 by XXL, It was slated to be the second Eminem album released in 2009, after Relapse, but was pushed back to 2010. Recovery was released on June 21 in the United States and the United Kingdom, and on June 18 in the rest of Europe.
My favorite album is The Marshall Mathers LP but I also feel like Recovery is underrated. People look at it as this mainstream album and they fail to see the emotion and creativity, cleverness of the lyrics. I do love the Slim Shady persona and the whole 1999-2004 Eminem era but Recovery was a way for Eminem to re-introduce himself to people after everything he went through. He became wiser and you can see that through his songs.
I hear a lot of "true Eminem fans" hating on this album and I'm not exactly sure why. Sure, he has definitely changed his sound, and sure, a lot of kids are going to love him just because they love "Not Afraid" and "Love The Way You Lie" but Eminem has been through a lot and this album is a hell of a lot better then Relapse! I welcome this album as a change, perhaps not his best but at least his songs aren't all about murder.
Awesome album of a legend rapper who is also said to be the best rapper alive by the rolling stone who has also won 15 grammys till date
I love this album, I can understand people not liking it becuase they like Eminem for being slim shady but the guy was what 36/37 when he recorded this album and just recovered from a very hard time in his life. I just have a lot of respect for Eminem for making this album there is just so much meaning to it. the explosiveness of cold wind blows and the flow on the second track on fire is just amazing, from then on their is just so many deep songs like not afraid, going through changes etc... like I say I understand why people prefer his earlier work but for me this is my favourtire Eminem album, hard decision really as they are all so good (except encore) very little between them all.
This album shows that Eminem is the best. The depressing songs have a motivational best and lyrics to them (You're Never Over and Talking 2 Myself) other songs show he still Shady deep down inside (Cold Wind Blows, So Bad, Untitled). Some songs show he isn't always high when writing raps (Going Through Changes, Not Afraid) I think I've said enough, not one bad song.
I never listened to music, like ever. One day I was at the swimming pool when "Not Afraid" came on the radio. I was instantly hooked! I went home and downloaded my first song, and that's how I got introduced to Eminem. Now I've gone back and listened to all his albums, but Recovery has a special spot at the top.
This is his most mature album. From lyrics to composition to content, this album really shows how far Em has come as an artist and as a person. This is by far, his most transparent work. Even the cover art depicts a totally different Eminem from his other albums.
The best Eminem album ever! I think there is lot of awesome songs no love space bound wont back down and my 2 favorite not afraid and love the way you lie songs about love peoples... Eminem really opens himself in this album love love this album!
Best album of Shady. MMLP is epic.. But come on just because its his Mona Lisa doesn't mean I have to stroke his dick for it. 'Kim' is garbage and torture to the ears "Remember me" is also crap. Recovery is a classical comeback album.. A song for every mood. Space Bound murders every song Shady ever made cause it paints you the best picture of why he's afraid to commit, and why he has so much reasonable woman-hate. This album makes you understand the multi-layers of Shady and is 10 times diamond in my heart.
People say that there was absolutely no Slim Shady in this album, which I feel is kinda wrong because songs like Untitled, Wont Back Down, Session One are just raw Slim Shady
Recovery has 19 brilliant songs, and every one of them is a clear step up from Eminem's previous expectations. My personal favorite songs are Cinderella Man, No Love, Space Bound, and Talkin' 2 Myself. This is obviously the best album released in a long time.
Songs written while sober about an addicted past and changed but uncertain future - powerful stuff like Spacebound and Talking' to Myself, along with a few lighter songs, like W.T.P.
I would like to say that this is the best album of Eminem. Eminem is just an awesome person who entertains us all and of-course his lyrics are the best. His song are really meaningful and really inspiring.
All real Eminem fans love this album, its really inspiring and always makes me feel good when I'm in a bad mood. Its over hated by 'fans'
While it is very mainstream, it isn't without its moments, which keep this album from being a total failure. Still better than most rappers albums.
Underrated. Never listened to this album until recently. I would recommend giving it a listen. - Dreconic
I love this album, best selling album ever! my favorite song he has for this album is you are never over, I will live that song till death, lol. - nyko
Recovery is definitely Eminem's best album because it's DIFFERENT to his other albums and sometimes different is an improvement. My personal favourites in this album is Not Afraid, No Love, Love The Way You Lie and Won't Back Down, but that's just naming a few of the great songs on this album.
This album is the best album Eminem has released, as I find it reveals his true character as an individual, where he isn't hiding behind drugs
I've followed em from the beginning, and this album blew me away, so much passion. Awesome!
One of his best album, not mainstream, personal and has subliminal messages about rap in general. A modern version of the Eminem Show
I loved old 99-03 eminem, but I think at this point, his rap skill had definitely improved
Today I heard someone say eminem almost die before he made this now I have more respect for the album plus it has awesome songs
this is a much better album than relapse and it is the first one where he hasn't been on drugs for ages and is high all the time.
