Best Female Rock Singers of All Time

The Contenders: Page 4

61 Cat Power

She's today true sound of the south. She's the real thing, she's soul, deep soul, and wow she is sexy.

Rock this isn't. Still a nice voice.

62 Anette Olzon

Maybe Anette isn't the best vocalist in the world, but her voice is definitely moving. I love her slow songs and I also love her fast songs. She sings so sweetly and with that she can can make you feel the emotions in her voice. When she is focusing, she can do really great things with the voice of hers. And I love her as a person. She is very kind person and deserves so much love. Don't hate her for her singing skills. She does as best as she can and loves her fans very much. Those song she sings are relaxing, but can be fierce, too. All in all, she really is a great musician.

LISTEN HERE! Anette is the best so nobody can tell us something else. She has a magical voice so please If you don't know what is singing go and kill your self.

Just listened to some of her songs. Interested. Suggestions as to what I should go to listen to of hers please?

63 Kate Pierson Kate Pierson

Not really a Rock singer fronting a band?

Well where do I start. Smashing voice. Amazing work in the early 90's with REM and the Iggster. Obviously nailed it with the B52's. But, more than anythng, was one hot spunk in her day. Gotta love her.

64 Grace Potter

USA Today calls her the best female rock vocalist in the country. Google "Grace Potter reviews" and see for yourself.

She and her band put on one of the best all round show in ages

She's considered the best rock female vocalist on today.

Good voice. Not my style.

Has her own Gibson guitar model!

How can anyone rank Sheryl crow as 67. She has 9 Grammys with 32 nominations and sold more than 50 million albums. besides maybe Stevie nicks she should be top 2.

69 Kate Bush Kate Bush

The one and only Kate Bush. Unique is often a term that is abused when comparing the best from the rest. There was no one else like Kate when she surprised the world with her talent. Incorporating music with movement is why she is a true original. Setting a new standard in arena shows allowed many others to follow. A fantastic talent!

Trial blazer. Heavily copied by Tori Amos. Not really a Rock singer more folk/pop. My personal favourite. Moment of Pleasure from Red Shoes album. It isn't rock though.

Kate Bush is a genius. Maybe someday the rest of the world will catch up. The most talented female singer-songwriter on this list.

The unique one. The legend. The magic. The master.

70 Sinead O'Connor Sinead O'Connor Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor is an Irish singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1980s with her debut album The Lion and the Cobra.

Sinead has a quality to her voice that is fragile and that's what makes it so compelling. You never quite know what to expect when she sings and that's the danger we all love. Brittle enough to bring you to tears yet strong lyrically to demand. Controversial though she may be is what sets her apart.

A great voice that I really would like to hear more of in the near future as she can rip her heart out right in front of you and be so sexy at the same time --love it

Mad as a March Hare. Pity she could have been great but is she really a rock singer; more pop in my opinion.

Mad as a bag of frogs but with a sublime singing voice.

71 Cherie Currie

Cherie Currie is one of the best rock stars ever. She fronted The first all girl rock band. She sang hits like "Cherry Bomb", "Neon Angels", and "Heartbeat". After The Runaways she started a band with her identical twin sister Marie Currie. Their band was called Cherie and Marie Currie. They were great together. She has a sexy voice when it comes to the hard rocking stuff and a smooth and beautiful voice in the ballads. She emotionally connects with us in her songs. Her on stage movement is amazing.

72 Miranda Lambert Miranda Lambert Miranda Leigh Lambert is an American country music singer and songwriter. She is best known as a solo artist, and is a member of the Pistol Annies.

Isn't Miranda Lambert country? Not rock? - Swellow

74 Beth Hart

Beth Heart is maturing into the most powerful & underrated Rock/Blues singer of our time. Her voice is reminisant of Etta James at her very best, but with a depth, power & raw emotion in her lower register that comes from deep within a primal soul.

When Beth Hart finally breaks out, no one will be able to touch her.
There is no voice like hers. Awesome and truly magnificent.

Beth is in the same league as Billie, Sarah, Ella, Nina, and Etta.

Very strong voice!

75 Aja Volkman

Lead singer of nico vega, one of the few female singer who can rock hard and create that scratchy rock sound

76 Susanna Hoffs

A most brilliant post, very insightful, and I pretty much agree with your entire list of those who come before Susanna Hoffs, although not as powerful a singer as these others, her appeal and effect on the listener, (the reason for recording these singers), is spot on. Kudos to you!

If you're not Linda Ronstadt, Ann (or Nancy) Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Alannah Miles, Joni Mitchell, Grace Potter, Melissa Etheridge, Bonnie Raitt, Ruby Starr, Mama Cass or Grace Slick, and you're a girl, and you call yourself a singer, You need to get in line BEHIND Susanna Hoffs

Not a rock sing more pop methinks!

77 Róisín Murphy

Beautiful in every respect and still going strong...

78 Elize Ryd Elize Ryd Elize Ryd is a Swedish singer-songwiter, dancer, composer and show artist, best known as one of the three vocalists in the melodic metalcore/power metal band Amaranthe.

I love her voice and she looked so good in Amaranthe's music video for The Nexus!

She's quite new to the music industry/scene but from what I've seen from Amaranthe the girl has a future. She has a 'barbie metalic' voice which fits perfectly to the band's music style. Strong voice that I hope will last in time.

Needs to strike out on her own before judgement.

Not only being one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She also has a great mellow voice that really gets me the chills.

80 Christy Johnson

Christy is the total package. Amazing tone & pitch, incredible range, undeniable stage presence. Check out her band, Dreamkiller!
