Best Fifth Albums From Heavy Metal Bands

The Top Ten
1 Powerslave - Iron Maiden

Classic. Several masterpieces on this album, none better than the epic Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Seasons of the Abyss a close second and then Countdown to Extinction.

This album is a masterpiece.

2 Metallica - Metallica

The point when the hair came off and the heaviness that they were known for was gone until st anger came out like ten years later.

This album was a turning point for Metallica. What an album!

Definitely best!

3 Countdown to Extinction - Megadeth

Skin o my teeth, symphony of destruction, forclosure of a dream are some of the best songs to meet the light of day, while Metallica sold out to rock for the money, Megadeth created their second best album, (1st rust in peace of course) long live megadeth

4 Seasons In the Abyss - Slayer

I've gonna told you, this album is the best fifth metal album of all time. It's also the best Slayer album of all time besides Slayer glorious career. The music and lyrics are incredibly awesome than the other fifth metal album

5 Blackwater Park - Opeth
6 Cowboys from Hell - Pantera

1. Seasons of the Abyss - Slayer
2. Cowboys from Hell - Pantera
3. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath
4. Powerslave - Iron Maiden
5. Countdown to Extinction - Megadeth
6. Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater
7. Blackwater Park - Opeth
8. Metallica - Metallica
9. Balls to the Wall - Accept
10. Killing Machine - Judas Priest

Reinventing The Steel should be on here. CFH is the 1st album Phil WROTE WROTE WROTE with the band. that's why they consider it their debut. Its also the first album not to feature a performance by a teenager.

Pantera owns the rights to the 1st 4 records. They could of sold the rights to WB and made a fortune but they chose not to. They chose not to re release the albums because THEY DO NOT REPRESENT the REAL BAND. This is why its Stupid people count them. Who cares about songs Dimebag wrote at ages 14-17?

DIMEBAG was 21 when he wrote CFH. And people wanna discuss songs from 7 years earlier with a different singer from when his Parents had to follow him to each concert because he was too young to be at the bars.

Yes, that is Pantera fifth album. After four glam-metal releases, finally they gave us that masterpiece. Way better than "Black Album" and "Countdown to Extinction", in my opinion even better than "Powerslave". Deserves top 1.

No, this is a debut.

7 Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater

A masterpiece! Beyond words as well.

One of the best albums of all-time

8 Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath

The best heavy metal album ever created besides Heaven and Hell.

9 Balls to the Wall - Accept
10 Persistence of Time - Anthrax
The Contenders
11 Nightmare - Avenged Sevenfold

What! I can't go with this list... Nightmare is one of the notable album of heavy metal history. Every songs of this album is great and unique. Every one should listen up this band and this album.

Its 11th because its not heavy metal, its hard rock. But still the 2nd best album of 2000s behind waking the fallen.
And in which universe does liveng things has meaningful lyrics? How is LP heavy metal?

8? Seriously? This should at least be within top 5!

12 Keep the Faith - Bon Jovi
13 The Chemical Wedding - Bruce Dickinson
14 Highway to Hell - AC/DC
15 Through Silver in Blood - Neurosis
16 Figure Number Five - Soilwork
17 10,000 Days - Tool
18 Empire - Queensryche
19 Killing Machine - Judas Priest

To he who said that The Black Album was a turning point for Metallica: you aren't wrong, but they definitely weren't going uphill. Killing Machine (or Hell Bent for Leather as Americans know it as) was close to perfection, and this is one of the best metal albums of all time.
Also how the hell does Bon Jovi keep getting near the top of these lists?

20 Individual Thought Patterns - Death
21 Through the Ashes of Empires - Machine Head
22 Wiseblood - Corrosion of Conformity
23 Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue

Very good and interesting album

24 Archetype - Fear Factory
25 Iron Fist - Motorhead
