Best Fire Pokemon

The Top Ten
1 Charizard Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Charizard first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Blue and subsequent sequels. They have later appeared in various merchandise, spinoff titles and animated... read more

I guess Charizard is okay. I personally think Talonflame should be on this list because it starts off extremely cute and then turns into an amazing sweeper. It knows a lot of movesets and strikes fear into the hearts of all, like a speed demon. The only reason Charizard gets my vote is that it has a good Mega Evolution that boosts its attacks, stats, etc. Although, Blastoise could easily beat Charizard. Water is effective against fire, and Blastoise is a tank. I really love grass starters, but not many people actually choose them. So, basically, Blastoise is a god, but Charizard is a good pal.

2 Blaziken Blaziken, known in Japan as Bashāmo, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I think that Blaziken is my favorite Hoenn Pokémon and May's best Pokémon. It even tied with Ash's Sceptile, which beat a Darkrai. That's right, a Darkrai.

I hate to say that Blaziken is the best fire type because I really want to say that it's Infernape, but Blaziken made it into the UBER tier in competitive battles, which is literally the highest tier. I'm talking about regular Blaziken, not just Mega Blaziken. I also believe that it performs better than other fire-type Pokemon because of its mega evolution. You could argue that Charizard is better because it has two mega evolutions, but Dragon and Flying types just don't have enough coverage, while Fighting types cover five different types alone. Blaziken also gets a good range of coverage moves like Earthquake, High Jump Kick, Solar Beam, Stone Edge, Brave Bird, Night Slash, Poison Jab, Shadow Claw, etc. Just because you don't like a Pokemon as much as another doesn't mean that Pokemon is bad, which I think I just proved. I still prefer Arcanine and Infernape, but Blaziken is just better.

3 Infernape Infernape, known in Japan as Goukazaru, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Infernape is truly the best fire type. He was my first-ever Pokemon when I started playing Platinum, which was my first game. I was in the mindset that the only good starters were the fire types, which is not true. Sceptile, Decidueye, and Greninja are my favorites from their regions. He is my favorite Pokemon and sparked my love for Pokemon. If I hadn't chosen Chimchar, I probably wouldn't have even liked Pokemon.

Infernape has great moves, great stats, and is an overall beast. He was my first and only legitimate Pokemon to get to level 100. Funny story: I had both a level 100 Infernape and a level 78 Luxray, as well as the National Pokedex and a level 69 Moltres (caught in a standard Pokeball), all before I beat Cynthia. I also had a level 27 Togekiss that tanked a hit from Cynthia's Garchomp.

4 Typhlosion Typhlosion, known in Japan as Bakphoon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

It is the best. It can be taught Thunder Punch to deal with water types and Earthquake for rock types. For God's sake, it can even learn Solar Beam for ground types. My Typhlosion in Heart Gold has the following moves:

- Solar Beam
- Thunder Punch
- Flamethrower
- Eruption

Its stats are the same as Charizard's. If you see a battle between Typhlosion and Charizard, Typhlosion will kick Charizard's butt with a Thunder Punch.

I had all five starters on my team. Charizard defeated my Charizard and used a Full Restore. Then he defeated all my Fire/Fighting Pokemon, including Emboar, the strongest on my team. That pesky Wing Attack! And then Typhlosion defeated that ugly reptile with just one blow, even though Charizard was at full HP and the attack wasn't very effective. Typhlosion won like a boss and also defeated the other five Pokemon single-handedly.

5 Arcanine Arcanine, known in Japan as Windie, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

By the way, this is purely based on the game, because I don't care about what happened in the anime. In the anime, Charizard beat Blastoise in the Johto League, but in the game, it's "Blastoise used Hydro Pump," and that's the end. Anyway, back on track: is Arcanine the best fire type? Yes, and I can give you plenty of reasons why.

Firstly, it has access to STAB Flare Blitz that can demolish anything that's weak to fire types. If water types are going to try to stop you, Arcanine blows them away with Wild Charge. And don't get me started on max happiness Return. An Arcanine with max happiness, 252 EVs in attack and speed, and holding a Silk Scarf can wipe the floor with almost any Pokemon that stands in its way. And if the opponent has a Focus Sash and somehow miraculously survives the Return, no sweat. Just finish them off with Extreme Speed. My Arcanine, using the set above, always gets me at least one KO because it's just so good. It's a million light years ahead of that bird man Blaziken and that flying salamander Charizard. One word sums this Pokemon up: EPIC.

6 Ho-oh Ho-Oh, known in Japan as Houou, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Ho-oh's stats fit his legendary status, making him a deadly sweeper even against other legendaries. With the new generation's resistance to fairies and the nerfing of Stealth Rock through Defog, he has become a top-tier Uber. This is something even Reshiram can't brag about. Sacred Fire is arguably the best fire attack in the game. Anything it doesn't burn can be hit with Brave Bird. Indeed, very few Pokemon can safely switch into Ho-oh. Even Kyogre doesn't like taking Brave Bird.

Rock Arceus is perhaps the closest thing to a counter, but even then, Ho-oh can also wield Earthquake to hurt it. Stealth Rock will probably always be Ho-oh's greatest threat, but as long as you keep it out, Ho-oh is virtually unstoppable.

So yeah, Ho-oh is the only Pokemon I can think of that is both a top-tier Uber and a Fire type. Reshiram, Blaziken, Charizard, and every other Fire Pokemon all fall short compared to the noble phoenix who dominates the Fire types.

7 Houndoom

Houndoom is a Fire/Dark hellhound! It is definitely one of the awesomest and most powerful Pokémon out there. It's strong against Psychic-type moves, and you'll want to have it in your party! Pokémon fans, I am dismayed. There is no reason why Houndoom shouldn't be at least in 5th place on this page. I mean, sure, Charizard and Arcanine are arguable. But honestly, if you have Legendary Pokémon in your party (besides the 3 birds), you're a sad excuse for a trainer.

Really, this low? Houndoom is a complete beast and has the coolest design! Its shiny and Mega forms are amazing, too! This Pokémon should 100% be in at least the top 10. Considering how many amazing moves it has, such as Flamethrower, Nasty Plot, Dark Pulse, Overheat, Inferno, Foul Play, Sludge Bomb, and whatever else this Pokémon can learn, it's able to defeat so many enemies. I personally have won every battle in which Houndoom was involved, and most of them were won by just this Pokémon alone.

8 Volcarona

One of the most powerful sweepers in the game, Quiver Dance combined with awesome stats scares away almost anything - except Heatran. My personal set is Quiver Dance, Fiery Dance (good to use if you want a boost but can't use Quiver Dance, or for a revenge kill), Bug Buzz (for raw power), and Psychic. This provides near-perfect coverage, excluding Heatran. Well, that's my Volcarona. Thanks!

Volcarona is far better than Charizard. Charizard has Flying as well, which adds a lot of weaknesses and not as many strengths. Volcarona, however, has Fire and Bug types. The Bug type grants Volcarona wonderful moves like Bug Buzz, while also providing many strengths. Charizard is only number one because it's the most popular in its category, according to ignorant people.

9 Magmortar

This Pokémon from the 4th generation is the best non-Legendary Fire Pokémon ever! With its super amazing special attack stats, it can send Pokémon flying into their own grave. If a Pokémon fights with Magmortar using Psychic, Flamethrower/Powered-Up Fire Blast, Thunder, and Hyper Beam, they are digging their own graves.

He could break the Pokémon League in one magma shot. That's how incredible he is. At least boost him up two ranks to 7th place. He is super tough.

I don't see why this is ranked 12th. It has incredible special attack and is a great wall-breaker. It definitely should be above Ninetales. Ninetales is better in its Alolan form anyway.

10 Chandelure

Chandelure rules. I remember trying to beat the Elite Four in Black with my overpowered Samurott, and this beast got in my way, hitting me with Energy Ball and Shadow Ball. He's an amazing special attacker. I also remember being in that graveyard tower to meet Skyla or something, and finding these little candle guys named Litwick. As soon as I found out they were related, I went straight for them - even though I'm not usually a Fire-type fan. Seriously, this Pokémon should at least make the top ten. He's overpowered, with a really nice 520 base stat total and 130 special attack. How is he only ranked 15th?

The Contenders
11 Flareon Flareon, known in Japan as Booster, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I think Flareon is awesome. It's so cute and fluffy! Not to mention its monstrously high attack stat. It's definitely my favorite out of all the Eevee evolutions. It can also learn lots of different moves and has Flash Fire for an ability. Let's see what happens when other fire types blow fire on it!

To me, Flareon is the cutest Eeveelution and the only one that retains Eevee's fur and fluffiness, but even more enhanced than before! Flareon is so cute and fluffy that I want to hug one so much, I start sounding like the chairman of the Pokemon Fan Club in Vermillion City, who feels the same way about his Ponyta.

Flareon is an amazing Pokemon, my favorite Pokemon right now, and a very overhated Pokemon and Eeveelution as well.

12 Entei Entei, known in Japan as the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Why is it ranked so low, and how is it worse than Charizard? In terms of stats, Entei is better than Charizard (I think 580 >. 534. Charizard fans, if you don't agree, that's okay). Ability? Entei's Flash Fire is more useful than Charizard's Solar Power because it's easier to activate and doesn't deplete health as quickly. You should agree with this one, Charizard fans. Moveset? Sacred Fire is better than Fire Blast. Entei also gets Extreme Speed. Both can use Earthquake, but Charizard doesn't excel at it since it's a special attacker, whereas Entei is a physical attacker. Entei wins this one. Typing? Entei is better than Charizard because of Stealth Rock everywhere. Entei also wins this one. So pretty much, Entei is better than Charizard in EVERYTHING. Charizard fans, please tell me why you think Charizard is better.

13 Ninetales Ninetales, known in Japan as Kyukon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Ninetales is especially useful for the mid-game stretch. In Gen 1, Vulpix learned Flamethrower at Level 35, 15 levels earlier than Growlithe. In Gen 2, Vulpix learned it even earlier, at Level 31, which can help a lot against Jasmine and Pryce. In Gen 3, it learned Flamethrower at Level 29, early enough to help against Erika. It can also help against Champion Steven in RSE, since Ninetales is faster than Torkoal.

Ninetales is one of my favorite Pokemon. It can learn many different strong fire moves like Overheat, Flame Burst, and Flamethrower. Some people think Charizard is the strongest fire type in the world, but I beg to differ. Maybe some people even like Camerupt. I used to like it. But Ninetales is one of the best fire type Pokemon, in my opinion.

14 Moltres Moltres, known in Japan as Fire, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Moltres is my favorite Pokemon. Imagine if you were about to fall off a cliff. Moltres would save you. So, Moltres rocks.

Whoever made this list must be from a mental hospital. Moltres should be third on this list, after Ho-Oh and Reshiram.

Moltres dives into an active volcano to regain health. It can create and control fire, and it can also fly. This Pokémon is awesome and is personally one of my favorites, so if you don't like it, too bad.

15 Rapidash Rapidash, known in Japan as Gallop, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Rapidash should work for Garden Force. It's literally the most ridiculous Pokemon. In one episode, Ash is inappropriately slapping one on the bottom and calling it rude names, while groaning intensely.

Rapidash has to be at the top of this list! Not only can it use fire moves, it can also learn Bounce! I find this very useful in a difficult Pokemon battle. In a 2v2 battle, I pair Samurott (Lv 100) with Rapidash and use Bounce, then use Surf on everyone. And if anyone is still standing, Bounce finishes the battle!

I agree with the Garden Force comment. The dapper gentleman who submitted that comment really knows his Pokemon.

16 Reshiram Reshiram, known in Japan as the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This used to be my favorite Pokémon and is my friend's favorite Pokémon to this day. I remember the first time I played Sword and Shield with the DLC. I got Suicune and Reshiram from Dynamax Adventures and used Reshiram to beat the game.

It's a Legendary Pokémon. It's Fire and Dragon-type! Does the name Vast White Pokémon mean nothing to you people? Maybe you guys belong in a mental hospital. And as for Arceus, he's not a Fire-type. He can be, but that's not his true type.

Not only is this dragon my favorite Fire-type, but it's also (probably) my favorite Pokémon of all time. I like it both design-wise and competitively. Also, this one is my favorite shiny of all time as well. There's not much else to say. Reshiram is awesome.

17 Victini Victini, known in Japan as the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Victini is the best. It learns seven legendary moves: V-Create, Searing Shot, Bolt Strike, Fusion Bolt, Blue Flare, Fusion Flare, and Glaciate. It's also a Fire-Psychic type, which is very strong offensively. Additionally, it has access to the strongest Fire-type move, V-Create, which has a whopping 180 Base Power. If it were more famous, like Charizard, it would be number one. Finally, Victini is extremely adorable, especially in its movie. With its amazing movepool, great typing, powerful signature move, and adorable appearance, Victini is the best Fire type and, in my opinion, the best Pokémon.

18 Incineroar Incineroar, known in Japan as Gaogaen, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

My second favorite starter. Am I the only person who always chooses the fire starters, except in XY because Delphox, I think it's called, sucks? Incineroar is just so freaking cool. I wish Ash used it more.

Definitely a Pokemon that has divided the fan base. However, this Pokemon has so much character and is proven to be the best Alola starter. I love tigers, and to see a tiger Pokemon is a dream come true. Ignore its design and pay attention to its battling capabilities. I promise you won't be disappointed.

19 Talonflame Talonflame is a dual-type Fire/Flying Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon franchise's sixth generation. It evolves from Fletchinder and is known for its swift and graceful flight. Talonflame's signature move, Brave Bird, showcases its daring and fearless nature in battles. Its fiery plumage and aerial... read more

Super quick. Using flames to generate speed makes it an absolutely epic Fire type! In my opinion, it should be at number 1, or if it just loses to Charizard, then number 2.

I believe Talonflame should be rated higher than 20 because it battled two legendary bird Pokémon in the anime. Plus, it is really badass.

Talonflame is pretty much OP. It can wreck most opponents with Brave Bird, and its speed is beyond belief. But you need to evolve Fletchling into Fletchinder and then Fletchinder into Talonflame. But I'd say it's all worthwhile. Also, his strength and stamina are underestimated, as is his health. He withstands a lot of attacks, although some attacks can do bucket loads of damage to him.

20 Fennekin Fennekin, known in Japan as Fokko, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Fennekin may not be the best starter Pokémon in X and Y, but it shares the Fire/Psychic dual type with Victini (the Victory Pokémon). This could be more than a coincidence! Many Fire and Psychic moves are special attacks, and upon evolving into Delphox, its Special Attack stat greatly increases. One strategy is to use Hypnosis to put your enemy to sleep, and then attack with Dream Eater until your opponent wakes up. To finish it up, use Blast Burn or Mystic Fire.

Absolutely adorable, with a successful evolution line. Even the middle stage is well-known and respected. Delphox, the final evolution, screams boss battle like no other and has an incredibly interesting type combination: Fire and Psychic. This was my first Pokémon, and I have no regrets.

21 Torkoal

Torkoal is my favorite Fire type, second only to Typhlosion. Torkoal has great defense but lacks in other areas. Its worst stat is speed, but there's Trick Room for that! You can give Torkoal Shell Smash and Rapid Spin, and pairing those with a Life Orb means you'll have the time of your life. However, you can't just pick up Torkoal and say, "I'm gonna use Torkoal!" No, you have to know the Pokemon before using it. Don't be a filthy casual!

I also like Torkoal because Flannery uses it, and I like her.

He's a flaming turtle. There's no reason not to like him.

22 Delphox Delphox, known in Japan as Mahoxy, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Being a Fire/Psychic type, Delphox, if used correctly, can beat Blaziken, Infernape, and Emboar. If it's taught the right moves, Delphox would make an excellent member of any team, as long as you have Pokémon to cover its weaknesses - Water, Dark, Ghost, Ground, and Rock. I suggest teaching it the moves Blast Burn, Overheat, Psychic, and Solar Beam. All of these are high-powered attacks and help to nullify one of its weaknesses.

Barring Victini, Delphox is the only Fire/Psychic type. With Fairies becoming more common, people are adding Poison and Steel Pokémon to their teams. Delphox beats them both with two moves to spare. Also, if you train it right, with a Modest or Timid nature, its Special Attack and Speed grow insanely high. Its weaknesses are easily covered by a well-built team. Therefore, Delphox is awesome.

23 Growlithe Growlithe, known in Japan as Gardie, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Growlithe is epic! It's cute, strong, fast, loyal, powerful, friendly, and just generally amazing. What more could you want from a Pokemon?

Growlithe is like a police dog on Earth, and I think it would guard us when we are in danger, so it's too cool.

He's so cute. There's nothing bad about him. He's just an all-around good Pokemon. What more could you ask for?

24 Heatran

HEATRAN THE TANK - why this title? This Pokemon, the only fire/steel type, has five resistances at 25% damage, two immunities at 0%, and four regular times-two resistances at 50%. Offensively, this is the only Pokemon with Magma Storm, the only partial-trap move with a power of over 100, which lets me switch and defeat any Pokemon.

More facts: Heatran learns Dragon Pulse for coverage. It has perfect stats! With 91 HP (386 life), 106 Defense (342), and 106 Special Defense (342), its life-to-defense ratio is 1:1. This means it has the highest potential for taking hits on both sides, given its total stats.

25 Emboar Emboar, known in Japan as Enbuoh, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Emboar is one of my favorite Pokémon ever. Its moves are really strong, and people even say he is OP. This is half true and half not true because certain Pokémon basically shred him. A way to beat him is to basically get a Pokémon with lots of moves and use them all on him. This is another way of defeating many other Pokémon too.

Emboar is an okay Pokémon. But it is not as powerful as everyone's saying. It has good HP and attack, but other than that, it is really bad. My advice is to choose Oshawott as your starter Pokémon.
