61 Blues Traveler

The hook brings me back, what can I say. - Hollaegt

62 The Beatles The Beatles The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The members consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were soon known as the foremost and most influential act of rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat, and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented more.

64 Pentangle
65 Love

Love's classic line-up marks no downs in their short life span, their debut, "Love" is simple, raw, Garage Folk-Rock album, with a couple of mellow acoustic tunes, in the second album, "the Capo" the band advances towards a more baroque sound, adding winds and keyboards, leaving behind the simplicity of their debut, but not the quality of their melodies, then comes their master-piece, "Forever Changes", one of the best albums of all times, listen to it by yourself.
After this the band tore apart and Arthur Lee kept the name, but never reached the quality of the early years.

How are Love ranked at 55? Bizzare. So ahead of their time in the mid sixties, only Arthur Lee's stubborn refusal to tour held them back.

67 Roy Harper Roy Harper Roy Harper is an English folk rock singer, songwriter and guitarist who has been a professional musician since 1964. Harper has released 32 albums across his 50-year career.
68 Phil Ochs

69 Blind Melon Blind Melon

72 Shakey Graves

He deserves to be in the top 5!

73 Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter and musician. He was born in Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk.

Okay, I am absolutely obsessed with Ed Sheeran, but I don't know if I could categorise him. Some of his songs are rap, some are pop and there are some that have a real folky feel to them. He should be higher on this list.

Certainly he's not pure folk, but he does folk. Like Mayer earlier, talented enough to do whatever he chooses. You definitely can see folk influences with a song like "A" Team...

74 Junip

Listen far away and don't let it pass

75 John Gorka

Maybe not as well known nationwide, but this man can write and man, can he sing! His albums and CDs are on Red House records, with the best being "I Know". Great songs of his include Ignorance and Privilege, Love is Our Cross to Bear, Where No Monument Stands, Downtown Tonight, Writing in the Margins, When You Sing, Branching Out, Let Them In Peter, and many others. I've seen him live several times, always talented and absolutely a hoot in concert! If you're not familiar with him, check him out, you'll be glad you did.

76 Kate Wolf

This talented lady from the San Francisco area unfortunately passed away in her mid-forties from leukemia back in '86, I believe. Before she did, she left a number of acclaimed folk tunes such as Across the Great Divide, Here in California, Give Yourself to Love, and others. I call her "the female Dylan". Another one worth checking out.

77 Steeleye Span

Seriously nobody thought of these? Nobody is more folk than steeleye span. Great band

How can they be this low when they should be in the top five

Maddy prior is the queen of folk
