Love her! I fantasize her doing everything! Dueling wizards, flying brooms, conjuring spells! Go Granger! A priceless gem for Gryffindor! - micks
She cool, charming, intelligent and lovable.!
She was my crush since the first harry potter movie. Pretty, witty, brave, friendly (most of the time), and she's just the girl I'm looking for.
I love Hermione. I wish I could be her. she is so smart and sooo powerful. girl power!V 415 Comments
HARRY POTTER has to be at number 1! Who saved the Philosopher's stone? Who got rid of Riddle and the dementors? Who saved sirius and escaped voldemort? Who helped dumbledore in getting slughorn's memory? Last but not the least, WHO THE RUDDY HELL KILLED VOLDEMORT? IT WAS HARRY POTTER!
After reading Deathly Hallows many times I have just realized that Snape would never have saved harry if he hadn't been on dumbledore's side. And he would have never been on dumbledore's side if he hadn't loved Lily Potter. It was lily potter who saved harry from voldemort. So actually, Lily should be at no. 2!
This list is about who is objectively the best character, not who is the most heroic. Lily was a total Mary Sue (the biggest one in the series). She should absolutely not be number two. - Ravenclaw
I love harry! He's brave to a fault, compassionate, modest, smart and selfless. He does have his flaws but that's what makes him so great. He's probably went through more than any other character in the series but he still battles on. Despite his outbursts, I think he handles everything surprisingly well considering how much he's got to deal with and the fact that he's also a teenager. He's also the lord of sass. Plus... He's the boy who lived... Need I say more - lily_hp
Harry should be number 1. Because who saved the world from voldemort.
He is the most relatable character in the series, showing us even an ordinary looking boy is capable of doing things that can change the world. It taught us to not judge by looks ( yes, harry was not the best looking character in the BOOK not the movies ) and look within the heart. He had many flaws, many of them. And many good qualities too. The perfect blend of them made him one of the most complex and life like character in the series. Whenever I see Harry, I feel like I am seeing a mirror image of myself. Many feather headed morons feel that he is a ' boring character not suitable as a hero '. Guess what? The simplicity of Harry makes me think that he is a PERFECT hero of the series. I am sure many girls would have been happier to see Malfoy as a hero than Harry, sorry state of affairs.
Um, he is the protagonist not to mention he did everything. I can relate to him and Peter Parker because everything goes wrong for them but they are able to pick themselves back up. I remember reading the books and the first time I read them I saw myself in Harry's shoes. The perfect way J.K. Rowling uses Harry is that she makes everything go wrong for him, she keeps pounding him to the ground whenever something goes right. But this is awesome because if everything went well for him, it would never feel satisfying in the end. That is because in the final movie after beating Voldemort, after gaining the respect of Hogwarts and the Ministry, it is just the feeling of satisfactory.V 301 Comments
Severus Snape is the man that every mother should teach her little boy to be. Yes, he made mistakes. A lot of them, actually. And yes, most of the time, you wanted to punch the living daylights out of him and watch him writhe in pain on the floor, but all that was a ruse. He was tough as nails, and wasn't the most socially graced person to walk the Earth, but he was loyal to what he loved. The only thing he loved, truly loved, was Lily Evans; his only friend and confidant. Until the day of his death, he lived his life in a manner that (he hoped) would make Lily proud of him. I kind of think that he did. He defended the last remain of her flesh and blood, borderline cared for him with every last drop of blood in his body. He was fierce and fearless, and brilliant. I could only wish that every man would do that for the woman they loved. I sure do hope that my kids do.
This is interesting because I don't think that being a role model was the point of Snape's character at all. I think he's a good character because he's complex and interesting. I don't really consider him a nice person or someone to be looked up to. - Ravenclaw
He saved Harry, died for Harry and became a Death-Eater for the order of the Pheonix!
Severus Snape was the farthest from a perfect man you could get, but he was the bravest and most selfless man you could ever meet. Whatever the reason for his actions (guilt, unrequited love, maybe even some morality), he was willing to risk his life for Harry Potter. He was willing to take on and lose his life to the most powerful Dark Wizard ever know AND die being known as one of the worst villains.
Many people question Snape's treatment of his students. However, keep in mind, he had to treat them poorly to be a believable spy as Voldemort had loyal spies everywhere. He hated Neville because the prophecy could have been about him, and if Voldemort had believed that, Lily would have likely lived. He hated Harry because James Potter was a horrendous bully to him. While James may have "grown up a bit", which is never shown, it doesn't excuse him of his actions. When Snape looked at Harry, all he could see was James and losing Lily. DESPITE THIS, he still protected him with his ...more
His character is complex and interesting. He's one of the best characters in fiction and by far the greatest in Harry Potter. He may not have been a good man but that was due to past experiences which left him in a horrible state. It may not excuse his actions but Snape was as much a victim as his victims were.Ultimtely in the end he was a man who was evil due to past experiences but motivated by one thing that is the best quality of human kind.Love saved Severus Snape.Such a complex and interesting character with multiple layers.V 307 Comments
::Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone::
"'you think he meant you to do it [save the Stone]? " said Ron. "Sending you you're father's cloak and everything? "
"Well, " Hermione exploded. "if he did - I mean to say - that's terrible - you could have been killed. "
"No, it isn't. " said Harry thoughtfully. "He's a funny man, Dumbledore. I think he sort of wanted to give me a chance. I think he knows more or less everything that goes on here, you know. I reckon he had a pretty good idea we were going to try, and instead of stopping us, he just taught us enough to help. I don't think it was an accident he let me find out how the mirror worked. It's almost like he thought I had the right to face Voldemort if I could... "
You are wring, I hate to be the one to break it to you but you are all wrong. Albus Dumbledore is the greatest character ever. He's complexed in a way that isn't revealed until the seventh book and even with his past he still shows a genuine care for Harry. His character is dynamic and thorough especially his dialogue and how he almost always speaks in riddles. He serves a major part in the story and that plot that isn't forced, making the whole book character driven. How he seems to know it all, and knows how much he should or shouldn't tell, and his judgment of character in others, he is the most trustworthy and all-knowing character in the book.
This guy can see whats going to happen he just never tells anyone for some reason
I think he is truly the most complex and interesting character in the series (yes even above Snape), and for me the most beloved. I think he is critically misunderstood by many, seen as a scheming, uncaring mastermind.
However, it is abundantly clear to me, from almost every scene that JK Rowling writes him in, every line of dialogue, that Dumbledore is the character who understands more deeply than any other the nature and power of love.
The power of love is the ultimate theme of Rowling's novels and
Dumbledore's character is for me a perfect example of ultimate human compassion. He demonstrates over and over again, to Harry and every other person he encounters, the power of love, compassion and self-sacrifice, and he himself embodies these virtues more than any other, even Snape, in thought, deed, word and intent. These qualities are the reason he is so adored and revered by the wizarding world, not to mention his humility (though not too much of it; he is well ...more
Ron, though not as talented as Harry or as smart as Hermione, was still (almost) always there. He did take jealousy too the extreme but it was because he was insecure. He's constantly overshadowed and a lot of people will be able to relate to that. Though he can be a little too mean and sarcastic and oblivious to people's feelings, his heart is still in the right place. Ron always seems a couple of steps behind the rest of the golden trio but when put to the test, he proves he's just as capable as them - lily_hp
Ron's my second favorite. He's not as brave as Harry, or smart as Hermione, but his heart was almost always in the right place. I relate to him always feeling like he's overshadowed, that his friends are better than him. He's one of the most realistic characters I've ever seen. He's right in the middle-leaning a bit more towards Harry-between Harry and Draco. He's just an amazing character for me.
Ron should totally be at least #4! Does anybody not remember the part in the fourth Harry Potter where Draco hits Hermione with a spell that makes her teeth enlarge, and Snape says he sees no difference? Do you remember what Ron did? He screamed every foul word he knew at Snape and got a week's worth of detentions just for sticking up for his friend. That shows quite a bit of heart
Ron says this in (almost) every movie: " BLOODY HELL "
This is hardcore swearing in British! Bloody Hell, Ron! Calm down.
Harry's relationship with him, considering they only meet a few times, is so strong, which makes it more tragic in the end :'(
Sirius is basically the biggest badass in the history of literature. He went through so much throughout the series and stayed strong, such as staying in Azkaban for 12 years, having his best friend die, and not being able to see his godson for most of his life. Also, in the Order of the Phoenix, he is stuck up in Grimmauld Place when he wants to go help. Also he dies, which can be pretty difficult; but he is always there for Harry before that happens, and even after when he uses the resurrection stone.
Reading through this list it again shows me how extremely complex this universe is. A majority of the characters, no matter how big their role is, are remarkable people. Many characters have gone through a lot of horrible events in their lives. Some of those events were caused by other characters who had gone through similarly horrible events, but handled them differently. Let us look at three examples: Tom Riddle, Sirius Black and Harry Potter. All three had a childhood you wouldn't even want your worst enemy to have. Riddle developed a strong aversion towards the muggle race and became Voldemort. He completely "cut off" his origin and created his own identity and world he wanted to force on the world. It's an act of revenge on the world that rejected him, of course in and of itself a horrible showcase of racially motivated violence that destroyed the lives of countless others. Specifically, that of Harry and Sirius.

Luna Lovegood. I absolutely love her. She's funny, sweet, friendly, and a little wacky, but in the most lovable way possible. She taught me how to be positive in situations. And I just love that despite her constant dreamlike state, she's still very intelligent (she's in Ravenclaw, hello). She cares about her friends and supports them, can see what's going on in people's minds, and who wouldn't want to be friends with her? She would never ditch you or say bad things about you. She's the perfect friend. Forever. Plus, I love that Harry names his daughter after her (and his mum. )
Luna is my favorite character from any book, movie, video game, anything! She inspires me. I love everything about her, but the best thing about Luna is that she is very odd (in the best way) and people sometimes say mean things about her, but that doesn't stop her from being herself. I think we can all learn from that. She's also really funny, sweet, and the type of person I would want to be best friends with. She's loyal and would always have your back. I love Luna!
Luna Lovegood is a very funny, sweet, unique, and loyal friend. She taught me that being weird is wonderful and that being yourself is more interesting than being someone else. She didn't care what other people thought of her. Even when she learned that others were calling her Loony, she didn't let that stop her. And how could we forget that she's really smart? I love Luna as she's my favorite character.
Luna Lovegood is a truly magical person. Sometimes you feel that she is a character from the books of Lewis Carroll.V 173 Comments
These two guys are hilarious; pulling pranks all over the place. their jokeshop is awesome. but I always mix them up

They are my very favourite! I love how hilarious they are! They must be VERY clever at potions because of all the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes products they make! I bet Snape must hate them

I love Remus Lupin. He always is so kind to the trio and other people and he cares more for others than himself. Its really sad that he dies. He and Tonks made such a lovely couple. He is extremely calm and quiet for a werewolf. He was the one that realized Sirius was innocent and he saved Harry's life (department of mysteries). I was glad to see that he got some happiness with Tonks and Teddy. It was sweet to see him so excited in shell cottage. Most people think that Remus and Tonks's ending was really sad, but aside from the fact that he is not with Teddy and other loved ones, it really means that he can eternally be with Tonks, Sirius, James, and Lily with no fear of the second war. I just wish that he got to spend more time with his family before he died.
Remus Lupin is so awesome. I honestly think he can be just as bad-ass as Sirius (and James), and any other character for that matter; with the added bonus of keeping his head in a crisis, and being responsible. It also breaks my heart about how afraid he was to hurt anyone with his werewolf condition, and how hard he fought with himself about marrying and having a child with Tonks. He faced discrimination and was shunned by most of the wizarding world, for something that he couldn't help. He stayed strong through it all: being a werewolf, losing James and Sirius, finding out that Peter was a traitor, and both wizarding wars, along with a ton of other things. Also, it pained me so much when Sirius died, he was the one keeping the most calm and HE was the one who held Harry back, even though at that point he had just lost HIS BEST FRIEND. Remus Lupin is a completely under appreciated character, and he deserves much more than that.
Lupin was a great character and man. He held back Harry from chasing Bellatrix after Sirius's death while also struggling to hold himself back. After James and Lily's death and Peter's betrayal, Sirius was the only one of his childhood friends left. While others panicked, he would always be the voice of reason. With James and Sirius being the little devils they were, someone had to be. He wasn't perfect, however. His "condition" aside, he had his fair share of regrets. While his friends took to bullying Snape, he wanted to speak up, but never did. In Deathly Hallows, he gets into an argument with Harry over wanting to join the trio on their hunt for Horcruxes, despite that meaning he would leave Tonks behind. Considering his furry little problem, Lupin felt it would be the best thing for his family and the Order. He's not a perfect little saint. He's human (and werewolf) and that's alright. In the end, he died with a woman that loved him for who he was.

What the heck? DRACO? BELLATRIX? VOLDEMORT are higher up than Neville? Are you kidding me right now? Neville is amazing. He was bullied by Draco, Pansy, basically all the Slytherins, not to mention Snape who basically tortured him his whole life, so cruelly and viciously that Snape was his biggest fear?! And SNAPE is higher than Neville? Sorry, but nothing Snape does will ever make up for his absolutely evil, cruel nature. Neville took on Crabbe and Goyle by himself in their first year! He killed Nagini, which saved Harry's life. He loved his parents so much even though they were loony and didn't recognize him. He stuck up to Bellatrix, he risked his life so many times to defend his parents. He restarted the the. He gives hope to all the poor supposed "losers" out there. He proves that just because no one believes in you does not mean that you can't do everything that you want to do. He is made of completely utterly pure GOODNESS. There is not one unlikable trait about Neville from ...more
Neville Longbottom is the most underrated Harry Potter character in the whole Harry Potter Franchise. He went from zero to hero through out the whole franchise, in the Philosopher's Stone he was constantly bullied by Slytherine for no reason. Neville, we love him, I love him and you love him. Neville is a character who is treated in a way which makes us all love him. Neville doesn't get enough credit, because he is a very talented wizard, he was constantly abused by his family he was even dropped out of a window to be proven a wizard. He has a constant bad luck streak! Severus Snape always scares him. Despite being the victim in the movies he has the biggest heart and will fight along side his friends and stand up to the evils, such as Bellatrix Lestrange, Draco Malfoy and even Voldemort. He is the one who stood up to Voldemort and gave the greatest speech in Harry Potter History! He's such an underappreciated character, and had to go through so much pain and humiliation in his life but still stood up for himself at the end and did what he loved doing. He had to endure living with his grandmother, who he was quite terrified of, dealing his whole life basically without parents, being bullied by the Slytherins for 7 whole years and rarely having anyone stand up for him, not really fitting in all that time during Hogwarts (he had friends, but always stood out in the dormitory, as Harry and Ron were both best friends and so were Dean and Seamus), he had to basically keep all the students safe when the trio left to look for horcruxes, and endured even torture during that time, AND he had to stand being bullied and failed by Snape. Not to mention that his bad grades were hardly his fault, as all that time he had the wrong wand! (He had been using his fathers, which obviously wasn't right for him, if you want more information you can Google it.) He had spent his whole ...more

HE NEEDS A NOSE
A very interesting character. As Tom Riddle, he wasn't evil, necessarily, but rather was ambitious and devious enough to undergo a death-defying transformation by which his existent cruelty manifested into an inhuman incarnation of evil. His discrimination against half-bloods is sophisticated, as he himself is half blooded. When choosing to kill either Harry or Neville, he chose half blooded Harry. A particularly fascinating part, in my opinion, was when Harry gave Voldemort the choice to become "a man" instead of the shriveled baby at the platform of Death. Go reread the very end of Deathly Hallows, Harry and Riddle's duel.
He who must not be named- one of the most iconic villains of all time. Every story needs it's villain, and lord voldemort is as evil as it gets - lily_hp

I don't really understand why so many people hate Ginny. I think she's really funny and witty. I love her progression from a shy girl who couldn't say a word in front of her crush, to a confident young woman who is sure of herself. You don't instantly know who you are, you've got to find yourself, which Ginny does. She's very brave, strong - minded and won't take crap from anyone. - lily_hp
Ginny's awesome, I just love the personality and she marries potter, I also like her in department of mysteries and battle of hogwarts, not the best but deserves to be in top ten.
So Ginny is pretty awesome!
Ginny weasley rules! Who fought a HARRY POTTER'S eye? Ginny! Harry liked her for intelligence and strength. She should be right by a Harry Potter. Who was nice to Luna Lovegood while everybody thought she was weird? Who wanted to fight even though she was only an sixth year? Why do people hate Ginny? At least let her be 7 or higher.
Ginny is so cool the song confident and take a hint totally describes her personality she is so confident and never backs down and she tries to give hints to Harry that she has a crush on him always with a new boyfriend possibly just trying to make Harry jealous and the other day when I was in band and the other kids would not be quiet I took a page out of Ginny's playbook and shouted " SHUT IT" just like she did in the Half blood Prince overall Ginny's just pure awesome especially when Molly said " Not my daughter you bitch" I still crack up at that part in the movieV 117 Comments
I have often had cause to remark on how unnerved I have been by the number of girls who fell for this particular fictional character although I do not discount the appeal of Tom Felton, who plays Draco brilliantly in the films and, ironically, is about the nicest person you could meet . Draco has all of the dark glamour of the anti hero girls are very apt to romanticize such people.
Excuse you? Really, Rowling? Let s look at one of the characters that very much similar to Draco Malfoy. Sirius Black and James Potter. James Potter was a rich pureblood kid who immediately start to pick on Severus Snape because he was poor and later because he was a rival for Lily s affections. And yes Snape wasn't completely innocent at how the relationship between these two
Yes, I know that Snape wasn't completely innocent. He did some horrible crap in relation, but it was James who originally started the feud. James Potter didn't however it wasn't until Sirius almost LED him to his DEATH ...more
This is very true...you did a brilliant job of describing Draco from his flaws to his accomplishments, and have personally persuaded me to add him to my list of favourite characters. Very good job indeed. - LuanTheHetalianRavenclaw
Draco is incredible. He may have been a bully, but you can EASILY see in the last few movies that he feels guilty and that he doesn't want to be a death eater. Quote from Draco "I have to do this, I have to kill you or they'll kill me." he didn't want to kill Dumbledore (and he didn't) but he was just trying to save himself. Besides he pretty much saved Harry in the Deathly hallows when Harry, Hermione and Ron were captured and Bellatrix asked Draco if it was Harry so they could kill him (harry was injured so they didn't know) and Draco said he didn't know even though he clearly knew... Bottom line DRACO ROCKS
Draco was pretty much the bully up until the 6th book and by then you begin to realize that there is more to him than just that. The fact that he was raised by these awful parents that taught him to be arrogant and such contributed to his personality but then you realize that he doesn't like who he has become and what he has to do with his life. I felt pretty bad for him too.
Ginny is above him, really?!?! I don’t even like him that much, but he really does deserve to be above Ginny.V 126 Comments
His death was one of the saddest moments of the entire series (I'm pretty sure everyone in the cinema was crying).
He tried to save harry from a terrible fate, he is the only reason harry wasn't killed by voldemort in 7 part 1, and in the book, he is the one who gives harry the thing that lets him breath under water and finds the room of requirement - bilbro29
Dobby is definitely one of my favorite characters in this series! Such a loyal friend to Harry, he is always there helping him in every way he could. Dobby is also such an interesting character - the cute way he punishes himself whenever he does something bad. I miss Dobby so much and I wish he was still alive.
I love Dobby so much I do not want to read book 7 because I know he will die. He is so sweet and loyal and gave everything up for his friends. He made mistakes but everything was to protect Harry. I must admit I think his voice in the movie was unfitting but he is just the most adorable creature ever! It's so unfair he must die. RIP Dobby.V 93 Comments
Seriously guys, Hagrid is the closest father figure Harry could ever get! He was always with Harry and always trusted him, he gave Harry a birthday cake, the series started when he carried Harry to Privet Drive and ENDED when he carried dead Harry...
As a character Hagrid provides comic relief and an uplifting side to an otherwise dark story. The way Rowling embedded his character into the story is fantastic as the story called for a simple character who was there for Harry from the beginning to the end. His parents having been killed and Sirius imprissoned, there still needed to be a character Harry could rely on, even if he didn't know it until 13 years of age. Dumbledore and McGonnagal are both far too busy and in positions of direct superiority in the school to allow for this kind of relationship, and Snape, although he did care for Harry more than once, had too many childhood issues with Harry's parents to warrent a comparable relationship. So Hagrid fills this void by being a grounds keeper who is simple minded enough to be on the main three characters' mindset level and still be old enough to take care of them in times of need.
Hagrid?!? Number 18?!? Think people, he brought harry to privet drive, was always nice, brought buckbeak, gave harry a birthday cake, etc. How can Dobby be infront of this guy! Dobby just is a house elf that almost killed harry by the bulger in quiditch, is a little funny and cute. I know he saved harry and all but Hagrid was there from start to finish always respecting the trio and Dumbledore. So he should switch spots with Dobby! Dobby should be where Alastor moody is! So, Hagrid is funny, loyal, kind, heartwarming, and mysterious at first. So vote for Hagrid and at least make him in the top ten! Agree!
Hagrid is probably the most caring and kind person in the worldV 56 Comments
Bella is awesome!
I love her craziness and everything.
And she is not all evil, she was made like that.
The Black family is known for being interested in dark arts and their obsession of keeping the line and the wizarding world pure. And that's how Cygnus and Druella Black raised their daughters.
Yes, Andromeda was strong enough to leave all of this behind her and see how wrong this all was, but Bella just couldn't. They had already brainwashed her and she wasn't strong enough to do anything against it. She was strong in another way, a powerful witch, but she couldn't see past the Black pureblood obsession, like Sirius and Andromeda did. That's what made her what she was in the end.
But still, I love her. She amazes me. And her character really makes
Bellatrix should at least be in the top ten!
I really do like Bellatrix, not as a person, but as a character. She is evil, but she does it so well! I can't help but admire her! She is determined, ruthless, mean, and a hint of crazy, everything you could want in a villain.
She's one of the best written psychopath of all time's literature
People this lady is AMAZING I am crazy don't judge and yes I root for the bad guys HARRY POTTER GO TO HELL. I agree that mudbloods are just filith who never belonged in the wizarding world " don't judge or I will find you and use the cruciatus curse on you." I just love her Helena Bonham Carter did an amazing job playing her to any Sweeney Todd fans Bellatrix Lestrange is just like Mrs. Lovett crazy and totally in love with the bad guyV 79 Comments
she's the coolest witch in the series. my 3rd favorite character, following Hermione and Snape.
She is very powerful and down-to-earth at the same time. Mad-eye was always fond of her as well. She is so cool and is just like the rest of us. She is clumsy yet absolutely brilliant. I love how she brings that punk vibe.
She is by far my favourite and I feel like she should have deserved a bit more scenes in the movies and the books. Her personality is just amazing. She has flaws of course which is what I like about her. Unlike Harry who thinks he has to do everything. I love her punk style but her death is so tragic! Especially since it was after she had Teddy Lupin

she has a fantastic (dry) source of humour... and is cooler than she looks in the first glance
She is so amazing! So solid and dependable and also so hilarious at times, she is ace and I love her. Her early life was so sad, she has been through a lot but she stayed strong and never let anyone get the better of her (especially not Umbridge! ). Also she is scottish (like me)! GO MCGONAGALL!
At first, mcgonagall may not seem that cool, but you realize just how wonderful she is later on. She really dang CARES about Harry, since that night in the first book, she sent him the broom, fought umbridge, and was really, really cool. I'm really glad that she will be headmistress

She is really the best Weasley. We need to get her above Ron, Ginny and Fred & George (they shouldn't even be combined: they're different people...) Even though her kids & husband are a bit disappointing (other than King Percy) she is great. And she should definitely not be below Tonks (Tonks could hardly be considered relevant). MOLLY! MOLLY! MOLLY!
She's not only the mother to the weasley's but also to the entire order - lily_hp
She is not only the mother of all the Weasley children, but she takes in Harry as one of her own in every sense. She is very likable, has a great sense of humor, and is a brilliant wizard, being the person to finally kill Bellatrix Lestrange. She deffinitely belongs on the top ten.

He was so funny, even when trying not to be! He was a focal point of the 4th book, and his death hit me really hard. So unexpected! Also, fun fact: my dad named his boat "Constant Vigilance" after him. He named his other boat "Azkaban".
