Best Harry Potter Characters

The Top Ten

Hermione Granger

Love her! I fantasize her doing everything! Dueling wizards, flying brooms, conjuring spells! Go Granger! A priceless gem for Gryffindor!

She cool, charming, intelligent and lovable.!

She was my crush since the first harry potter movie. Pretty, witty, brave, friendly (most of the time), and she's just the girl I'm looking for.

I absolutely LOVE Hermione! She is so like me and has inspired me to be fearless, hardworking and cool. She is the girl all girls should follow and I can't think of anyone more amazing! A person once called me a nerd, even though I was SO NOT! Well, that person was a sassy, bossy, rude diva, so I didn't really care. But Hermione showed me that it doesn't matter what other people think if they are just the sort of people who think the worst of everyone. I learnt from Hermione that I should just care about my friends and not the people who hate everyone. Now I work harder then ever to be even more like Hermione than I already am. In my opinion, Hermione Granger should be every girls' role model. Hermione rocks!

Harry Potter Harry James Potter is the title character of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The majority of the books' plot covers seven years in the life of the orphan Potter, who, on his eleventh birthday, learns he is a wizard.

HARRY POTTER has to be at number 1! Who saved the Philosopher's stone? Who got rid of Riddle and the dementors? Who saved sirius and escaped voldemort? Who helped dumbledore in getting slughorn's memory? Last but not the least, WHO THE RUDDY HELL KILLED VOLDEMORT? IT WAS HARRY POTTER!

After reading Deathly Hallows many times I have just realized that Snape would never have saved harry if he hadn't been on dumbledore's side. And he would have never been on dumbledore's side if he hadn't loved Lily Potter. It was lily potter who saved harry from voldemort. So actually, Lily should be at no. 2!

This list is about who is objectively the best character, not who is the most heroic. Lily was a total Mary Sue (the biggest one in the series). She should absolutely not be number two. - Ravenclaw

It's such an unpopular opinion, but BOOK Harry is my #1 favorite character. He is sassy and funny and relatable. He is the only character who we really get to grow up with as we read his journey throughout the story. People don't like him because how he treats some of the people closest to him, but that is probably one of the most realistic parts of the series. He is a young, teenage boy who has just been thrown into fulfilling this prophecy and, in my opinion, that gives us a reason as to why he does that. I love Harry and he will always be my favorite.

He is the most relatable character in the series, showing us even an ordinary looking boy is capable of doing things that can change the world. It taught us to not judge by looks ( yes, harry was not the best looking character in the BOOK not the movies ) and look within the heart. He had many flaws, many of them. And many good qualities too. The perfect blend of them made him one of the most complex and life like character in the series. Whenever I see Harry, I feel like I am seeing a mirror image of myself. Many feather headed morons feel that he is a ' boring character not suitable as a hero '. Guess what? The simplicity of Harry makes me think that he is a PERFECT hero of the series. I am sure many girls would have been happier to see Malfoy as a hero than Harry, sorry state of affairs.

I love harry! He's brave to a fault, compassionate, modest, smart and selfless. He does have his flaws but that's what makes him so great. He's probably went through more than any other character in the series but he still battles on. Despite his outbursts, I think he handles everything surprisingly well considering how much he's got to deal with and the fact that he's also a teenager. He's also the lord of sass. Plus... He's the boy who lived... Need I say more

Harry should be number 1. Because who saved the world from voldemort.

Severus Snape Severus Snape is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is characterised as a person of great complexity, whose coldly sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish.

Severus Snape is the man that every mother should teach her little boy to be. Yes, he made mistakes. A lot of them, actually. And yes, most of the time, you wanted to punch the living daylights out of him and watch him writhe in pain on the floor, but all that was a ruse. He was tough as nails, and wasn't the most socially graced person to walk the Earth, but he was loyal to what he loved. The only thing he loved, truly loved, was Lily Evans; his only friend and confidant. Until the day of his death, he lived his life in a manner that (he hoped) would make Lily proud of him. I kind of think that he did. He defended the last remain of her flesh and blood, borderline cared for him with every last drop of blood in his body. He was fierce and fearless, and brilliant. I could only wish that every man would do that for the woman they loved. I sure do hope that my kids do.

This is interesting because I don't think that being a role model was the point of Snape's character at all. I think he's a good character because he's complex and interesting. I don't really consider him a nice person or someone to be looked up to. - Ravenclaw

He saved Harry, died for Harry and became a Death-Eater for the order of the Pheonix!

Severus Snape was the farthest from a perfect man you could get, but he was the bravest and most selfless man you could ever meet. Whatever the reason for his actions (guilt, unrequited love, maybe even some morality), he was willing to risk his life for Harry Potter. He was willing to take on and lose his life to the most powerful Dark Wizard ever know AND die being known as one of the worst villains.
Many people question Snape's treatment of his students. However, keep in mind, he had to treat them poorly to be a believable spy as Voldemort had loyal spies everywhere. He hated Neville because the prophecy could have been about him, and if Voldemort had believed that, Lily would have likely lived. He hated Harry because James Potter was a horrendous bully to him. While James may have "grown up a bit", which is never shown, it doesn't excuse him of his actions. When Snape looked at Harry, all he could see was James and losing Lily. DESPITE THIS, he still protected him with his ...more

Incredibly complex, brave, selfless, evil, and Rowling did such a good job with him. Probably the most complex character in any story ever, and he is both a protagonist and an antagonist

Albus Dumbledore Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.

I think he is truly the most complex and interesting character in the series (yes even above Snape), and for me the most beloved. I think he is critically misunderstood by many, seen as a scheming, uncaring mastermind.

However, it is abundantly clear to me, from almost every scene that JK Rowling writes him in, every line of dialogue, that Dumbledore is the character who understands more deeply than any other the nature and power of love.

The power of love is the ultimate theme of Rowling's novels and Dumbledore's character is for me a perfect example of ultimate human compassion. He demonstrates over and over again, to Harry and every other person he encounters, the power of love, compassion and self-sacrifice, and he himself embodies these virtues more than any other, even Snape, in thought, deed, word and intent. These qualities are the reason he is so adored and revered by the wizarding world, not to mention his humility (though not too much of it; he is well aware ...more

::Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone::

"'you think he meant you to do it [save the Stone]? " said Ron. "Sending you you're father's cloak and everything? "

"Well, " Hermione exploded. "if he did - I mean to say - that's terrible - you could have been killed. "

"No, it isn't. " said Harry thoughtfully. "He's a funny man, Dumbledore. I think he sort of wanted to give me a chance. I think he knows more or less everything that goes on here, you know. I reckon he had a pretty good idea we were going to try, and instead of stopping us, he just taught us enough to help. I don't think it was an accident he let me find out how the mirror worked. It's almost like he thought I had the right to face Voldemort if I could... "

You are wring, I hate to be the one to break it to you but you are all wrong. Albus Dumbledore is the greatest character ever. He's complexed in a way that isn't revealed until the seventh book and even with his past he still shows a genuine care for Harry. His character is dynamic and thorough especially his dialogue and how he almost always speaks in riddles. He serves a major part in the story and that plot that isn't forced, making the whole book character driven. How he seems to know it all, and knows how much he should or shouldn't tell, and his judgment of character in others, he is the most trustworthy and all-knowing character in the book.

I didn't realize how much I liked Dumbledore until I re-read the books because the movies leave SO MUCH OUT. But gosh I just love Dumbledore. He is a FANTASTICALLY written character.

Ron Weasley Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. His first appearance was in the first book of the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the best friend of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger.

Ron, though not as talented as Harry or as smart as Hermione, was still (almost) always there. He did take jealousy too the extreme but it was because he was insecure. He's constantly overshadowed and a lot of people will be able to relate to that. Though he can be a little too mean and sarcastic and oblivious to people's feelings, his heart is still in the right place. Ron always seems a couple of steps behind the rest of the golden trio but when put to the test, he proves he's just as capable as them

Actually Ron is very talented. Remember that slug-hex? It is non-verbal! - AshleyChang

Ron Weasley is my favourite character! He is the most underrated character! In the movies it doesn't show him as much of the helpful friend, but in the book he is! He is sarcastic and can be a jerk sometimes, but people can relate since he is out shined most of the time. His best friends are Harry Potter the boy who killed voldemort, and Hermione Granger, the smartest person in their year! And he has so much family members with outstanding accomplishments so its hard to get attention sometimes. He is cute, funny and loyal, and my favourite character. I don't care about what people say about Ron he will always be my favourite.

Favourite Character! He's so caring and considerate of his friends, and he always does his best to cheer them up. Harry is the Chosen One, and Hermione is the Brightest Witch of her age, so Ron must have felt very inferior next to them, but truth is, Harry and Hermione would have been so stressed without him. He was also so brave, and stood up for his friends. People can talk crap about Ron, but he'll always be the best character in my eyes.

He needs to be higher! He's my second favorite character and my favorite member of the golden trio. Sure, he can be extremely jealous sometimes but that proves that he is a human after all. Also who can blame him? His best friend always gets all of the attention. He is also funny and secretly very smart and I think that he is funnier in the books. He is not as smart as Hermione or not as brave as Harry, but I love him just the way he is.

Sirius Black

Okay literally, Sirius Black had one of the saddest lives - he grew up in the house of Black, and was hated for not being more like his parents, then he went to Hogwarts and became a Gryffindor and was hated by his parents even more, then eventually he got disowned, burned off the tree, and all, then he graduated and there was the problem of Voldemort and all, so he joined the Order of the Phoenix, watched people around him die, then he had two of his closest friends die and one of his closest friends betray him. Then he literally went to Azkaban and didn't even get a trial even though he didn't commit the crime. He was in Azkaban with the dementors for 13 years. Like 13 years. Then he literally started to go mad, but his innocence kept him sane and he escaped finally to go avenge his friend's deaths. THEN he did but all his plans were ruined by Peter escaping again, and he had to run away again and hide while everyone kept looking for him (oh and he almost got soul sucked by ...more

Harry's relationship with him, considering they only meet a few times, is so strong, which makes it more tragic in the end :'(

The reason Sirius Black is the most important character is his journey. He was born into a evil family and was still able to turn into a loving, brave, funny and loyal young man. And then, what I possibly like the most about him, he arrived at Hogwarts found three friends who were the first people he has ever loved and decided to live his life to the fullest. And yes, Sirius has done bad things and he sometimes was a bad person. But I believe at the end of the day he realized that he will not be like his family and tried to be the best he could. What I love (love, love, love) about Sirius is that he wasn't perfect at all. His most famous quote was, that everyone has a dark and a light side but what matters is the part you choose to act on, and he did. He chose his light side and he gave his life for the people he wanted to protect and the ones he loved. Like Harry and Snape he didn't grow up with love and it made him even stronger. So Sirius is definitely one of the best, if not the ...more

Sirius is basically the biggest badass in the history of literature. He went through so much throughout the series and stayed strong, such as staying in Azkaban for 12 years, having his best friend die, and not being able to see his godson for most of his life. Also, in the Order of the Phoenix, he is stuck up in Grimmauld Place when he wants to go help. Also he dies, which can be pretty difficult; but he is always there for Harry before that happens, and even after when he uses the resurrection stone.

Luna Lovegood Luna Lovegood was a witch, the only child and daughter of Xenophilius and Pandora Lovegood. Her mother accidentally died while experimenting with spells when Luna was nine and Luna was raised by her father, editor of the magazine The Quibbler, in a rook-like house near the village of Ottery St Catchpole ...read more.

Luna Lovegood. I absolutely love her. She's funny, sweet, friendly, and a little wacky, but in the most lovable way possible. She taught me how to be positive in situations. And I just love that despite her constant dreamlike state, she's still very intelligent (she's in Ravenclaw, hello). She cares about her friends and supports them, can see what's going on in people's minds, and who wouldn't want to be friends with her? She would never ditch you or say bad things about you. She's the perfect friend. Forever. Plus, I love that Harry names his daughter after her (and his mum. )

Luna is my favorite character from any book, movie, video game, anything! She inspires me. I love everything about her, but the best thing about Luna is that she is very odd (in the best way) and people sometimes say mean things about her, but that doesn't stop her from being herself. I think we can all learn from that. She's also really funny, sweet, and the type of person I would want to be best friends with. She's loyal and would always have your back. I love Luna!

Luna is so cool and a little weird, but she should definitely be at least in the top 5.

Luna is cute and friendly. And she is funny too. Really, my favorite character from Harry Potter

Remus Lupin

I love Remus Lupin. He always is so kind to the trio and other people and he cares more for others than himself. Its really sad that he dies. He and Tonks made such a lovely couple. He is extremely calm and quiet for a werewolf. He was the one that realized Sirius was innocent and he saved Harry's life (department of mysteries). I was glad to see that he got some happiness with Tonks and Teddy. It was sweet to see him so excited in shell cottage. Most people think that Remus and Tonks's ending was really sad, but aside from the fact that he is not with Teddy and other loved ones, it really means that he can eternally be with Tonks, Sirius, James, and Lily with no fear of the second war. I just wish that he got to spend more time with his family before he died.

Remus Lupin taught Harry Potter how to make a Patronus at the age of 13. That's so advance, He is half-werewolf but so what look at his personality he is so nice.

Is very determined to not let him being a werewolf get in the way of his life.

Remus Lupin is so awesome. I honestly think he can be just as bad-ass as Sirius (and James), and any other character for that matter; with the added bonus of keeping his head in a crisis, and being responsible. It also breaks my heart about how afraid he was to hurt anyone with his werewolf condition, and how hard he fought with himself about marrying and having a child with Tonks. He faced discrimination and was shunned by most of the wizarding world, for something that he couldn't help. He stayed strong through it all: being a werewolf, losing James and Sirius, finding out that Peter was a traitor, and both wizarding wars, along with a ton of other things. Also, it pained me so much when Sirius died, he was the one keeping the most calm and HE was the one who held Harry back, even though at that point he had just lost HIS BEST FRIEND. Remus Lupin is a completely under appreciated character, and he deserves much more than that.

George Weasley

These two guys are hilarious; pulling pranks all over the place. their jokeshop is awesome. but I always mix them up

I feel like fred was made more important because he ended up talking more and george was understated.

They are my very favourite! I love how hilarious they are! They must be VERY clever at potions because of all the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes products they make! I bet Snape must hate them

id buy anything from their jokeshop

Lord Voldemort Lord Voldemort is a fictional character and the central main antagonist in J. K. Rowling's series of Harry Potter novels. Voldemort first appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was released in 1997.

HE NEEDS A NOSE

Made the films, most interesting character and the reason why the films kept progressing to be better and better

A very interesting character. As Tom Riddle, he wasn't evil, necessarily, but rather was ambitious and devious enough to undergo a death-defying transformation by which his existent cruelty manifested into an inhuman incarnation of evil. His discrimination against half-bloods is sophisticated, as he himself is half blooded. When choosing to kill either Harry or Neville, he chose half blooded Harry. A particularly fascinating part, in my opinion, was when Harry gave Voldemort the choice to become "a man" instead of the shriveled baby at the platform of Death. Go reread the very end of Deathly Hallows, Harry and Riddle's duel.

He who must not be named- one of the most iconic villains of all time. Every story needs it's villain, and lord voldemort is as evil as it gets

The Newcomers

? Aidan Lynch

Haha good joke! (No wait seriously why is he on here?)

The Contenders

Neville Longbottom

What the heck? DRACO? BELLATRIX? VOLDEMORT are higher up than Neville? Are you kidding me right now? Neville is amazing. He was bullied by Draco, Pansy, basically all the Slytherins, not to mention Snape who basically tortured him his whole life, so cruelly and viciously that Snape was his biggest fear?! And SNAPE is higher than Neville? Sorry, but nothing Snape does will ever make up for his absolutely evil, cruel nature. Neville took on Crabbe and Goyle by himself in their first year! He killed Nagini, which saved Harry's life. He loved his parents so much even though they were loony and didn't recognize him. He stuck up to Bellatrix, he risked his life so many times to defend his parents. He restarted the the. He gives hope to all the poor supposed "losers" out there. He proves that just because no one believes in you does not mean that you can't do everything that you want to do. He is made of completely utterly pure GOODNESS. There is not one unlikable trait about Neville from ...more

He is so much braver than most. I LOVE the part when he stands up to Voldemort.

Neville Longbottom is the most underrated Harry Potter character in the whole Harry Potter Franchise. He went from zero to hero through out the whole franchise, in the Philosopher's Stone he was constantly bullied by Slytherine for no reason. Neville, we love him, I love him and you love him. Neville is a character who is treated in a way which makes us all love him. Neville doesn't get enough credit, because he is a very talented wizard, he was constantly abused by his family he was even dropped out of a window to be proven a wizard. He has a constant bad luck streak! Severus Snape always scares him. Despite being the victim in the movies he has the biggest heart and will fight along side his friends and stand up to the evils, such as Bellatrix Lestrange, Draco Malfoy and even Voldemort. He is the one who stood up to Voldemort and gave the greatest speech in Harry Potter History! Plus Neville has changed through out the years becoming shy, mistreated and innocent to strong, ...more

Everything bout this boi makes me laugh and it reminds me of myself and the mistakes I make everyday I love this guy he's so cool yet so relatable and he makes my day reminding me that I am not alone

Ginny Weasley

I don't really understand why so many people hate Ginny. I think she's really funny and witty. I love her progression from a shy girl who couldn't say a word in front of her crush, to a confident young woman who is sure of herself. You don't instantly know who you are, you've got to find yourself, which Ginny does. She's very brave, strong - minded and won't take crap from anyone.

Ginny Weasley is definitely the best character! People say that she was totally nonexistent in the first few books, then suddenly turned into a magnificent beautiful diva in the fifth-sixth book. ...Wrong. If you read closer, you could see Ginny's progression. Being possessed at the age of 11? Honestly? That's difficult. Slowly she went from a shy, nervous girl to getting more confident and strong. She turned into an awesome young woman. I absolutely love Hermione, she's my second favorite, but I loved Ginny more for another reason, one that she was she so easy to laugh. I'm more like Hermione, honestly, a bossy schoolgirl, and I utterly adored Ginny's sense of humor and bravery. I think the order should be Hermione first, because even if she's my second favorite more people love her, then Ginny, then Luna (who's my third favorite). Stop shunning Ginny, and realize how AMAZING she is!

I honestly don't really know why I like her. She is funny and shy. She is very brave she got possessed at the age of 11 like that's crazy.

If you hate Ginny I WILL FIND YOU! (You might want to start sleeping with one eye open)

Draco Malfoy Draco Lucius Malfoy is a character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is a student in Harry Potter's year belonging in the Slytherin house.

I have often had cause to remark on how unnerved I have been by the number of girls who fell for this particular fictional character although I do not discount the appeal of Tom Felton, who plays Draco brilliantly in the films and, ironically, is about the nicest person you could meet . Draco has all of the dark glamour of the anti hero girls are very apt to romanticize such people.

Excuse you? Really, Rowling? Let s look at one of the characters that very much similar to Draco Malfoy. Sirius Black and James Potter. James Potter was a rich pureblood kid who immediately start to pick on Severus Snape because he was poor and later because he was a rival for Lily s affections. And yes Snape wasn't completely innocent at how the relationship between these two

Yes, I know that Snape wasn't completely innocent. He did some horrible crap in relation, but it was James who originally started the feud. James Potter didn't however it wasn't until Sirius almost LED him to his DEATH ...more

I'm kinda confused. Are you saying that Malfoy is somehow better than James because James bullied only one person and Malfoy bullied many? - Pebblepaw

Draco is incredible. He may have been a bully, but you can EASILY see in the last few movies that he feels guilty and that he doesn't want to be a death eater. Quote from Draco "I have to do this, I have to kill you or they'll kill me." he didn't want to kill Dumbledore (and he didn't) but he was just trying to save himself. Besides he pretty much saved Harry in the Deathly hallows when Harry, Hermione and Ron were captured and Bellatrix asked Draco if it was Harry so they could kill him (harry was injured so they didn't know) and Draco said he didn't know even though he clearly knew... Bottom line DRACO ROCKS

"No wonder he was evil from outside, but he always had a soft side in his heart":This is what I think.

Honestly, I don't know WHY they cut out the scene of him throwing the wand to Harry, it really showed that he wasn't bad. And in Half Blood Prince, you could see that he didn't want to do the Dark Lords bidding, he was just pressured to by his family and peers. Overall, I really think isn't that bad, and that he was really misunderstood.

Dobby

His death was one of the saddest moments of the entire series (I'm pretty sure everyone in the cinema was crying).

After watching the movie about a thousand times, I still cry when he dies.

Seriously, where do I start!? Dobby is just so sweet, and protects Harry at all costs. His death scene has me in tears every time. He is ADORABLE, and his laugh when he's jumping on the bed in Chamber of Secrets is so funny! Master has given Dobby a vote! Dobby is free!

He tried to save harry from a terrible fate, he is the only reason harry wasn't killed by voldemort in 7 part 1, and in the book, he is the one who gives harry the thing that lets him breath under water and finds the room of requirement

Rubeus Hagrid Rubeus Hagrid is a fictional character in the Harry Potter book series written by J. K. Rowling. Hagrid is introduced in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as a half-giant and half-human who is the gamekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts, the primary setting for the first six novels. ...read more.

Seriously guys, Hagrid is the closest father figure Harry could ever get! He was always with Harry and always trusted him, he gave Harry a birthday cake, the series started when he carried Harry to Privet Drive and ENDED when he carried dead Harry...

Rubeus Hagrid is my favorite Harry Potter character next to Hermione Granger. Hagrid is totally the best and should totally at least be in top ten, or switch places with Ginny, because she is just a Mary Sue dressed pretty. Hagrid was always my favorite, ever since he set foot in the place where the Weasleys were on vacation. Especially when he meant to turn Dudley into a pig, but ended up giving him a pig tail. That was hilarious. Hagrid is so kind-hearted, warm, funny, loyal, dedicated, trust-worthy, open-minded, brave, and protective. Hagrid was the closest father Harry could get, even more than Sirius Black, because of how kind and caring he was to Harry was much more help to Harry than Sirius. Hagrid would be a wonderful father, if he was one. And Hagrid told Harry he was the wizard. Without Hagrid, Harry would still be stuck with the Dursleys and never would have learned the truth about being a wizard. And along with that, Hagrid baked Harry a birthday cake to go along with it, ...more

Absolutely adorable. I mean - he had to go into hiding in the last book For arranging pro Harry Potter party - could it get Any more sweeter!

Such a great uncle figure to Harry. Kind man, good heart, amazing soul

Minerva McGonagall

she has a fantastic (dry) source of humour... and is cooler than she looks in the first glance

McGonagall is so fair. She doesn't have any favorites she teaches everyone equally to share her knowledge.

Sassiest woman on earth, reasonable yet kind. Amazingly skilled.

McGonagall is so underrated! She is an amazing character and has a very funny humour. She always made sure the students at Hogwarts were okay and I love the way she stands up against Umbridge! -PW

Bellatrix Lestrange A psychotic death eater who escaped from Azkaban, and is fiercely loyal to Voldemort. Murderer of many people such as Sirius Black, and also a sadist who drove the Longbottoms mad.

I know that she is evil, but most times I like the evil characters better than the nice ones.

Bella is awesome!
I love her craziness and everything.
And she is not all evil, she was made like that.
The Black family is known for being interested in dark arts and their obsession of keeping the line and the wizarding world pure. And that's how Cygnus and Druella Black raised their daughters.
Yes, Andromeda was strong enough to leave all of this behind her and see how wrong this all was, but Bella just couldn't. They had already brainwashed her and she wasn't strong enough to do anything against it. She was strong in another way, a powerful witch, but she couldn't see past the Black pureblood obsession, like Sirius and Andromeda did. That's what made her what she was in the end.

But still, I love her. She amazes me. And her character really makes

Bellatrix should at least be in the top ten!

watch sisters of house black it is free on youtube and it will explain everything and Bellatrix is actually more powerful than Voldemort, SIRIUSLY! Really, I'm dead Sirius! OOps, I think I got the joke ron!

Bellatrix is awesome! Although yeah, she tried to kill Ginny, that fight between her and Molly was just incredible. She is definitely my favourite villain.

Nymphadora Tonks

Her weird abilities make her really cool and really interesting.

she's the coolest witch in the series. my 3rd favorite character, following Hermione and Snape.

I love Nymphandora Tonks. here ability is so cool! I hate that J.K. Rowling had to make her die in the battle of hogwarts

She is very powerful and down-to-earth at the same time. Mad-eye was always fond of her as well. She is so cool and is just like the rest of us. She is clumsy yet absolutely brilliant. I love how she brings that punk vibe.

Molly Weasley

She is really the best Weasley. We need to get her above Ron, Ginny and Fred & George (they shouldn't even be combined: they're different people...) Even though her kids & husband are a bit disappointing (other than King Percy) she is great. And she should definitely not be below Tonks (Tonks could hardly be considered relevant). MOLLY! MOLLY! MOLLY!

True mother figure For all in the series. Sincere, kind, loving and very funny. Raised seven plus one amazing children. Highly skilled on magic, killed Bellatrix

She's not only the mother to the weasley's but also to the entire order

She is not only the mother of all the Weasley children, but she takes in Harry as one of her own in every sense. She is very likable, has a great sense of humor, and is a brilliant wizard, being the person to finally kill Bellatrix Lestrange. She deffinitely belongs on the top ten.

Fred Weasley

Fred is so fun! Troublemaker at all times, and he has such a strong relationship with all his siblings and parents, especially George. His scene where he and George cheer up the small child who was punished by Umbridge is so heartwarming. So sad he had to lose his life.

Wait why is Fred under George? To be honest I like fred wasly better I was so upset when he died.

I will admit he is not my favorite. However he does not deserve to be this low on the list! I am going to be honest here. I didn't cry when Dumbledore died. Or when Moody died. Or when Hedwig died (almost did though). I had never cried for any character death in any book, movie, or T.V. show. But then Fred died and finally I cried. It was only two tears but that's more then any other character death. Fred was a hilarious and awesome character and didn't deserve to be this low down.

Why is Fred so low on the list? He should at least be in the top 20! He was an awesome character and his humor always made me laugh.

Horace Slughorn

He should be higher. Definitely in the morally gray area.

I am not theft sure but he is good.

He is friendly, which is a rare gift among the Slytherins

Cool Professer. Just the give him WAY too much screen time.

Alastor Mad-Eye Moody

He was so funny, even when trying not to be! He was a focal point of the 4th book, and his death hit me really hard. So unexpected! Also, fun fact: my dad named his boat "Constant Vigilance" after him. He named his other boat "Azkaban".

Constant Vigilance

He's so important I was so bummed when he died

I personally find it funny that who we know as Mad-eye is actually mostly Crouch Jr.

Yeah, we only meet the real mad eye for the order of the Phoenix scenes and the battle of the seven potters - Potterhead

Hedwig

Hedwig is such a beautiful and sweet owl. It's so upsetting when she dies, it almost feels like you've lost a pet of your own.

I love Hedwig and everything but... Hedwig is an owl. That is a pretty big problem because owls cannot speak, and that limits her personality greatly. She cannot have conversations with other characters, she cannot develop, and she cannot be a very complex character of high literary merit. I'm having a hard time seeing why she's so high on the list...

She was there from the beginning (almost) and was one of the saddest deaths.

Hedwig is such a beautiful owl. I like her she is wonderful pet to Harry.

Kreacher

Made me laugh when leading elves into battle in the last book

Kreacher is one of the most complex characters in the entire series. At first, he puts on an evil/mean persona around others, but once the trio begins to spend more time with him in DH, he reveals what a flawed and emotionally damaged character he really is. Kreacher for top 20!

He's not my favorite character (<3 Snivellus) but he deserves the top 20: he's so complex and underrated! That might be because of the movies, that completely eclipsed him for the main plot: getting the locket. But he, like Bellatrix, appeared only in the fifth book, and what an appearance for both of them. They both killed Sirius, but while Bella did it to "cut off the bad branches on her family tree" Kreacher actually had a good reason. Not just that, his relationship with Regulus was so deep, and seeing Sirius be like "Yeah, my brother, total loser! " he had so much compressed anger inside of himself. You see him in Deathly Hallows, when they're planning the assault of the Ministry, he's so happy just because Harry Ron and Hermione treated him decently, and gave him Regulus locket. His motivations are really complex, which makes a complex character that not so many people can enjoy!

I was so sad when harry hermione and ron had to leave him in the 7th book with death eaters! I was so relieved when I knew he was okay later in the book

Newt Scamander

Me and newt r exactly the same because we both love magical creatures. And he is just the best,he should be higher. About 20 steps higher

We have had too many extrovert male leads, I agree. Newton seems like such an amazing character that would just need more getting to know. Hufflepuffs don't seem to get a lot of love and I honestly think Newt deserves the love. He did cause quite a bit of disaster, but he did of course put in plenty of effort to fix the problem(s) he caused. His history in Hogwarts really shows what a great person he is, displays his kindness, his selflessness he displayed which resulted in his sentence for expulsion when he took the blame for Leta Lestrange's experiment that risked another student's life (The experiment involved a Jarvey). He really suits the Hufflepuff label he carries around. I see him as especially an amazing inspiration for others to do what they love as he did, despite it disappointing his family. He is the wizard form of Steve Irwin, doing what he loves.

He should not be included on this list. Fantastic Beasts should be separate in my opinion.

Some people don't like this guy because he is too introverted or unmasculine. WELL ITS ABOUT TIME WE HAD ONE OF THESE MALE LEADS TO BE INTROVERTED!

Cho Chang

When Cho and Harry kiss, I was really mad. First of all, Ginny is and will always be Harry's girlfriend and Cho can find another sucker. Also, Cho totally rated out D.A. and it's kinda her fault that they had to stop.

From the beginning, I knew she wasn't going to end up with Harry. All of a sudden she just popped up in the fourth book, practically out of nowhere. She seemed really nice, but she took Cedric's death way too dramatically. Harry was not going to end up with someone who cries over their last boyfriends death every damn second of her life.

Cho didn't get Dumbledore's Army caught. In the book, it was her friend and all Cho did then was stick up for her best mate. Though yeah, she is kinda sappy in the fifth.

She was kinda annoying but misunderstood by Harry and readers I think. Anyway, glad Harry didn't end up with her!

James Potter

He was kinda a prick at first but he loved lily so much that he got his crap together

Calling him "Swine" and "I hate him so much" is pathetic.
Many teenagers are idiots.
Even his best friends said so when Harry was shocked and depressed over what he had saw.
This man went on to fight Voldemort joining the Order of the Phoenix.
His life was short.

He was a bullying toerag as a child to quote Lily, but he was also extremely loyal and loving friend to those he cared about, and would do just about anything for his loved ones. And most importantly; while he was an arrogant jerk sometimes as a child, he /grew up/. He grew up and became a man worthy of love and a fantastic role model. I am sure he was a marvellous father while still alive. James had a lot of flaws, and as young really needed to step down a peg and stop bullying people, but even while horrible to some he was still a wonderful friend. And like I said, he matured and became someone Lily could be proud of and love. The fact that Lily married him is all the evidence we need that he was a good man, and we've got more than that, even. So yes, James had a lot of flaws, but in the end of his life his good nature and redeeming qualities more than made up for them.

I just have this beautiful imagination of him being the cocky popular boy in school but deep down he's sweet and brave and would do anything for Lily, including becoming a better person. It's literally the most adorable love story ever! Besides Larry Stylinson. And him and Sirius being the school bad ass's together is the most glorious thing. Long live the mauraders!

Rufus Scrimgeour

Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss.

Man he is the minister for magic!

Well he did die protecting Harry

He's played by Bill Nighy, so he deserves to be high on the list.

Cedric Diggory

How come isn't Cedric already on the list? Cedric wasn't only hot, he had the brains he believed in fair playing and his death was one of the saddest taking into account all the Harry Potter films.

He should be at least in top 10. He is most liked character in harry potter series.. And one of my favorite character as well..

Honestly, we need more people in the world like this boy. He is loyal, honest, kind, hard working, and much more. Not to mention brave enough to put his name in the Goblet of Fire. Guys, he was even nice to Rita Skeeter!

I personally think Cedric is awesome. He gave Harry that hint in the tournament and wouldn't take the Cup! How amazing is that? He's like the whole enchilada. I can't believe he...can't even say it.

Gellert Grindelwald

The most powerful wizard to ever live. Not just in Dark Arts but in all magic itself.

He did show remorse at the end of his life - lying to Voldemort about where the Elder Wand was located under the threat of death and insulting Voldemort at the same time. Definitely a awful person, but not on the evil level of Voldemort.

"Kill me then, Voldemort, I welcome death! But my death will not bring you what you seek... There is so much you do not understand..." (Grindelwald immediately before Voldemort kills him).

My favorite character by far. Remember when he was against 20 aurors all at the same time and just decided he was going to spend the day wrecking all of them. This guy is the definition of a tactical badass and is number one in my books. How the bloody hell ( we Canadians don't say that a lot) I'd cho Chang higher

Gellert grindelwald is the most powerful dark wizard of all time second only to you-know-who himself. So yeah my point is that he is freakishly awesome and he should be in the top tens not 20s

Petunia Dursley

I feel bad for her. Have any of you read the books? Her sister got picked for Hogwarts and her parents felt so proud then she was jealous and neglected.

I guess when they finally clicked in book 5 people started liking her

Why is she on this list?!?

So mean she spoiled dudley to much

Buckbeak

Buckbeak is my second favorite character Sirius Black being my first. I feel like they both have the same story in Prisoner of Azkaban and I know it was set up that way and thank you J.K Rowling for giving us Buckbeak and Sirius Black.

The 'main trio' (Harry, Ron, Hermione) is still good, but Buckbeak is definitely my favorite character. They did both the look and personality of an eagle-horse hybrid perfectly.

From Prisoner of Azkaban He is awesome ABSOULUTELY Brilliant

I love buckbeak! He is so cute and sweet!

Terry Boot
Aberforth Dumbledore

Strong

People don't see Aberforth Dumbledore as a very god character. In my opinion, he's pretty cool. I mean, think about it. He was the younger sibling of a wizarding hero - Albus Dumbledore - someone who was in the WIzengamot, the guy who defeated Grindelwald, who was one of the greatest Hogwarts Headmasters of all time! He was completely ignored. And think about the times we've seen him fight, he was probably pretty talented as well.

Also, his relationship with his little sister, Ariana, whose mind, magic (and body? ) were ruined. He was very sweet and she obviously liked him better. I'm not saying that Dumbledore didn't love her, just that Aberforth was more...there.

Peter Pettigrew

He should be way higher. He's a bad person but a good villain.

He should be killed

He is a rat come on really?

He don't deserve my attention. he's a rat boy

Fleur Delacour

I was fully expecting Fleur to be in the top 30. She is my 5th or 6th favorite in the series and she is the most underrated character of anyone. Her arc in the final two books is amazing. She proves Ginny wrong, and Ginny is shown to be jealous of her and judges her by her looks. She still loves Bill even after he becomes a werewolf and she proves to Molly that she has more depth than just her beauty. Amazing character that is far too low on the list.

Fleur needs to be higher! There is no way that you'll ever convince me that Seamus Finnigan is a more complex character than she is.

Oh I love Fleur! Ar first she seems like this beautiful snobby girl but then when she fiercely claimed she will remain at her fiance side no matter what he looks like, I changed my mind about her. So did Molly.

Fleur so low? I didn't expect her to be in the top 10 (although she would be on my list), but top 30 at least!

Tom Riddle

I think this option means Voldemort's dad: Tom Riddle Senior.

Tom riddle is the same thing as voldemort

He is my favorite character... unless this means his dad

He's the same a voldemort keep them the same

Percy Weasley

While I do think that he's rather pompous and tend to act like a know-it-all, he is one of the most 'human' characters in the series. Just like any human being, he has many flaws and those flaws had unfortunately made him become oblivious to the corrupted world around him.

I do agree that Percy leaving his family in Order of the Phoenix and insulting them was rather a cocky thing to do. But if you were to look at it in his perspective, he just wanted his family to be proud of him at getting promoted but all he got was,"oh, you're just getting promoted because the Ministry are using you to spy on us". Just imagine how he had felt when he got told like that!

In the end, he was brave enough to do what most of us cannot do-- he apologised to his family. Acknowledging that you have done something wrong is hard, but it is even harder to apologise to the people you had been wronged to.

He should be much, much higher than #165. He is really ambitious and will put his own needs first, but he develops more than a vast majority of the characters in the series. He is my second favorite Weasley after Molly.

So snobbish and way to bossy and so full of himself

Least favorite character in Harry Potter series...

Gregory Goyle

My FAVORITE character! he is AWESOME and saves Dumbledore's life.

He should be lower than 101... he is a terrible character. Crabbe is better than him. Goyle is just a moron who does nothing but follow Draco. He's not even a good villain.

Phineas Nigellus Black

¬ÄúDumbledore‚Äôs got style‚ÄĚ

Kingsley Shacklebolt

Kingsley is Awesome and kind and brave!

He is just amazing!

Kingsley is a top 10 character! I love him!

Kingsley shacklebolt is the best!

Oliver Wood

I'm a bit biased because I love goaltenders (or as close as you can get to them in any sport) but he taught Harry how to play quidditch. That's got to count for something.

He should be higher, he was so dedicated to quidditch, ADORABLE

He is amazing and he is the only reason Harry got on the Quidditch team.

I like Oliver wood he is awesome

Rowena Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw is the best house.

Ravenclaw is the best of the four!

Absolute greatest house.

Ravenclaw is the best! Currently this is the highest house founder of the list! #Ravenclaw4Life

Viktor Krum

I actually liked Viktor. I mean, although he is more of a physical being, in the last book he actually showed that he loved Hermione.

Krum krum krum! Victor krum! Think rons in love

He is a dummy and so arrogant the way he talks is annoying

He is a bloody pumpkin.. He stole hermonie from ron

Regulus Black

The Letter he wrote for Voldemort to recover inside the fake locket shows how much of a badass Regulus is.

This might be racist, but he's my favorite black.

Awesome guy probably nicest Death Eater ever good man.

He should be way higher,... I mean, he tried to destroy a horrcrux! And he realized his mistake, just a little too late

The Sorting Hat

The Sorting Hat is a character! > : (

This is not a character

Bee in you at vonett

Good

Gilderoy Lockhart

Gilderoy thinks he can do anything. He's cool because he's so dumb. But I hate the fact that he thinks his rewards (that he didn't even deserve) are better than Harry's great accomplishments for which he never even sought credit. But, I think he should have more votes. He's a well-written character, even though he's so dumb.

Definitely the funniest character of all the books! And I know someone just like him... "Magical Me" - can't beat it!

Fraud! He thinks his Charming Smile Award was better than Harry's defeating of Lord Voldemort!

I quite like Movie Lockhart. Only because he is funny though

Argus Filch

Oh dear... We are in trouble...

He's funny lol

He is so funny

Funny when he ate the fever fudge he thought was from Umbrige

Dementor

Umbridge was one of the peeps who kissed one (fight me non-shippers! )

I think their cool and all, but just disgusting. They clamp their jaws on a victims mouth and suck the soul out is the victim. Just disgusting.

Why is he on the list?...

Everyone without a soul (means they kiss stupid people) kissed dementors. They kiss stupid people, no soul

Sir Cadogan

He is a person in a painting. READ THE BOOKS.

Lol he was funny

NEVER HERD OF HIM
