Arctic Monkeys might have at first seemed like just another landfill indie group during the 2000's, but there were three main things that set them apart from the rest- their everyman image, Matt Helders's excellent drumming, and Alex Turner's outstanding songwriting.

Firstly, the Monkeys were in their teens when they started the band, and this is reflected in their early (and by far best) albums. They didn't sound like rock stars. They sounded just like some slightly nerdy British kids who had got together in a garage and started playing songs- except they were really, really good at it. This adds a homegrown charm to their music and makes it very relatable to the younger generation.

Secondly, the Monkeys' Matt Helders is one of the best drummers in rock music today. Even on the first few songs, when the other band members could barely wield their guitars, Helders was always there in the background, pounding out complicated yet visceral drumlins as though he had been ...more

On a musical level alone, arctic monkeys are simply incredible. Alex turner is my favourite lyricist of all time and with good reason, with lyrics such as 'you're rarer than a can of dandelion and burdock, and those other girls are just post mix lemonade', and 'Arabellas got some interstellar gator skin boots, and a helter skelter round her little finger and I ride it endlessly, she's got a Barberella silver swim suit, and when she needs a shelter from reality she takes a dip in my daydream', he's obviously a lyrical genius. the drummer Matt Halder is insane, not just as a player but as a writer, although that may sound stupid, its true. he writes great rudiments and grooves such as the entirety of crying lightning which is a great song anyway, and all of 'whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not', which is my favourite album of all time. they are an absolutely superb band and anyone who hasn't listened to their older stuff really should. PLEASE TOUR AGAIN GUYS. ps top 5 for me ...more

Arctic Monkeys have their own unique sound and seamlessly cross different rock genres flawlessly, experimenting while still retaining their unique sound. Alex Turner is one of the best lyricists of this generations (ex- "Fools on a parade cavort and carry on for waiting eyes" (Secret Door); "I took my batteries out of my mysticism and put them in my thinking cap" (The Hellcat Spangled Shalala); "When she needs a break from reality / she takes a dip in my daydreams" (Arabella); "You are the fugitive / But you don't know what you're running away from" (Old Yellow Bricks); "Yeah but his bird thinks it's amazing, though / So all that's left / Is the proof that love's not only blind but deaf" (Fake Tales of San Francisco.
And Matt Helders is an amazing drummer.

I will never ever get tired of Arctic Monkeys! I haven't found a song by these guys that I'm disappointed with; Alex's voice combined with the amazing guitar riffs, bass and drums, they are without a doubt the best indie rock band I've ever heard. Can't stop listening to them!

Of course it's Arctic Monkeys! They are also one of the best rock bands in my opinion (: Alex Turner is a lyrical genius along with his gorgeous voice and unreal guitar riffs, Jamie's awesome guitar skills, Nick's amazing bass beats and solos and Matt's incredible drumming! Arctic Monkeys will go down in history

Few bands in the history of rock can compete with Arctic Monkeys in terms of creativity and originality. They don't just use one style of rock, they use many, which I think works very well with the chemistry between the lyrics and the beats and the general mood of the subject. They're simply the best

Those guys brings a cool new type of rock, that can be alternative and also brings back the classic british rock and roll, they are amazing and innovates with lyrics that don't talks only about love and girls like other bands, the monkeys are unique.

Addictive music and outstanding lyrics. Alex's voice is extremely sexy. Definitely one of the best bands of our generation.

This band sucks, so I voted for them. why does it feel so good to scratch a deep rectal itch? I just get some toilet paper and go to town until it bleeds, feels great. never any feces on the toilet paper so I don't know why my rectum itches so much

I've been listening to them for years! They never disappoint! I have like literally all of their songs! Alex is a genius and matt a beast! (in a good way of course)

Pure essence of amazing wrapped up in a coat of awesomeness. Music just does not get better. Even their unknown stuff is sweet, such as "Temptation Greets You Like a Naughty Friend"

The coolest, most poetic, heart wrenching music that will give you the feels. The Arctic Monkeys are truly amazing, a legend of alternative, indie rock music, I honestly can't stop listening. The vocals of Alex, the awesome guitar and bass riffs...

I love them so much and hopefully their music will carry on for generations. I'm 12 and they're my favourite band so...

Indie my ass, these guys are hitting the mainstream so hard fans are getting blinded. They are the most overrated bull crap I've ever heard, and it's a shame that they didn't follow their first album's roots for their later work

Arctic monkeys are the best, strokes are good I guess but you can't say they are better than arctic monkeys they have got so much music and it's all good the strokes have about ten half good songs arctic monkeys have at least 60

The riff of do I wanna know captured me right away and now, one and a half years after I started listening to arctic monkeys I can say that in my opinion, favourite worst nightmare is the best album!

Most amazing band ever! I'm in love with them!

Can't even describe how much I love their music. It's that kind of music that makes you play it on repeat until you fall asleep. Every single day.

I can't believe how good are almost all the songs! I only pay attention in the last album and favorite worst nightmare... but I listened the other songs and now I love almost every song.

Respect from Russia! Guys, your music it's amazing.

In my opinion I love this band so much I bet many can agree and I just can't believe that they aren't more popular. If you like 'The Strokes' you'll probably like Arctic Monkeys.

Simply I love them. The voice of Alex is incredible. He is not an amazing front man, however he is a marvellous singer. And the other tags of the band are brilliant musician.

These lads, when they were starting, they were not like now a day skinny jeans stupid 3 chords all over the songs, their songs are so quality!

This band has been my life for as long as I can remember! You can listen to them all the time, no matter what you're feeling

Arctic Monkeys are practically the best band ever. No buts. Alex turner is a lyrical genius been listening since I was about 7 and I'm 13 now they're sort of an obsession
