Jimi Hendrix may be widely recognized for his guitar playing, but I think he was just as great as a songwriter, if not better. He could write hard rocking songs (Purple Haze), weird songs (1983 (A Merman I Should Turn to Be), and songs that put you in bliss (May This Be Love).
