Top Ten Best Meat Loaf Songs

The Top Ten

1 I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)

This baby got me so totally hooked to this whole genre and it's gotten better and better after that

Easily could be stated as one of the best songs ever written it has a feel that nobody I've ever shown it to loves even if they don't like meat loaf they love this song. I could throw out songs like stairway to heaven or somebody to love but they don't compare to this, this isn't just the best meat loaf song it is the best period.

This is the best song in the whole world for me
Best lyrics best music and greatest voice ever touches me deep inside every single time I hear it

A little repetitive, but still a classic - MaxPap

I find it extremely repetitive to the extent that it's a bit annoying. - Billyv

2 Paradise by the Dashboard Light

how could this not be number one?! It's GREAT, NO! Even better then great

This is the only Meat Loaf song I've heard, and it has absolutely blown me away. If there's more to Meat Loaf than this, I can not wait to get into it.

This song is one of the best songs that I have ever heard just because it portrays two teens lusting for each other, then listening to the baseball game on the dashboard radio, and finally losing love for each other. It is sort of sad really, but really engrosses you in just an 8 minute period of time.

3 Bat Out of Hell

awesome song with an epic intro of 1 minute 55 seconds before he actually sings!

This is the greatest song ever, so much that I take 10 minutes out of my valuable time just to listen to it! The intro is great, and the story it tells is amazing!

Epic guitar solo's, epic vocals, epic everything really. Je can't help but rock out when I hear the guitar solo's and him singing like a bat out of heaven.

The only 8 minute + song that once I hear will listen to the whole way through

5 Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are

I hope none of this is from his life, especially about the father hitting him. Don't we all have a best friend we remember with such love? My favorite lyrics of Meatloaf of all his songs... love him

The lyrics really touch you and get through to you.
It also has a lovely tune!
This is probably my favourite Meat Loaf song!
It's just so awesome!

6 You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth

Deserves to be higher up on the list. Definitely demonstrates Meat's theatrical talent combined with his vocal talent. And Jim Steinman's composition is at the top of his game in this masterpiece outlining a couple's first touch of love on a hot summer night.

No less than #3 best of Meatloaf. Quality and originality of the music is sensational.

Ranked too low on this list!

The video is great with the commentary ending with

On a hot summer night,
would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
[Girl:] Yes.
[Boy:] I bet you say that to all the boys!

7 For Crying Out Loud

Absolutely epic. The orchestrations combined with the stunning vocals make this one of the most powerful recordings ever made. If that wasn't enough, two words: the coda. My favorite lyrics of all time.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I have been listening to it more than a hundred times.

One of Steinmans favourite songs

Should be #1. The best love song ever written. It's powerful. Extremely. - MaxPap

8 Out of the Frying Pan (And Into the Fire)

All of these songs above and many more meatloaf songs could be on this list but this one at the moment for me has something special

This needs to be in the mix for sure...

Such a brilliant motivator.

9 Los Angeloser
10 Runnin' for the Red Light (I Gotta Life)

I don't really understand why this is in the top ten. It really isn't that good a song (although it's still better than "Do It! ") Any song from Bat I or II would be better than this, in my opinion.

The Contenders

"What about the future? It's defective! "
"You can shove it up your ass! A" - MaxPap

14 Seize the Night

20 All Revved Up with No Place to Go
21 It's All Coming Back to Me Now

My favorite Meat song of all time. Marion Raven does an amazing job. This song was made for Meat Loaf. As well as Pandora's Box and Dion do, Jim Steinman wrote this with Meat in mind. Great emotional pull too.

It is the ultimate tragedy song and it is driven home with Meats vocals. Truly awe inspiring

Great song. One of the best duets ever.

Great cover. - MaxPap

23 Everything Louder Than Everything Else

The "Wasted Youth" intro is pure genius.

Other than that the song is pretty repetitive but still great - MaxPap

24 Good Girls Go to Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)

A great song that sounds a little like Desperado!

Must be in no. 3

37 Love You Out Loud
38 Home by Now / No Matter What

Easily one of the most underrated songs from Meat Loaf. Performed for the compilation "The Very Best of Meat Loaf" around the time of Bat II. A true gem. Two songs in one, see that No Matter What was performed by Boyzone.

Truly amazing song, gets even better when you combine it with the story around the Hang Cool album. Meat's vocals are at the best they've been since Bat II. Composition is sublime, everything fits together beautifully. I was lucky enough to see both KISS and Journey, my two favorite bands, this summer. both times, I thought of this song.
