Not really actual "metal", but this IS my favourite band so I just had to vote. Their music bring out the most emotion for me.

Formed on October 12, 1991, the group was founded by vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Adam Duce. They have received great critical success especially for their album "The Blackening" which is considered a modern metal more.

Machine are the most awesome band, keeping the thrash metal genre alive and adapting it to greatness. This is one of those bands who are quite big but some how still loads of people have never heard of them, its strange.

This list truly justifies itself not heard any of them except machine head

These guys have been around forever and some of you may know them well. However, they remain a relatively unknown band. They have a couple albums that are terrific. A great live band as well. - byzantine

I saw Caym last year opening for Anvil. I'm glad Canadian Metal is alive and well. A great show.

Groove/thrash metal - a new band formed in 2006 (4 studio Albums/EP's so far).
These guys are really good. Check them out on soundcloud (lots of songs) and also pay attention to the instrumental piece - From Red To Black! Amazing!

Very underrated 80's thrash band. The Ultra Violence and Act III are both awesome.
