The Contenders: Page 8

141 Wolf Hoffmann

Come on people this guy plays some serious riffs. He doesn't fool around when a guitar is in his hands. And with Accept being an influence on thrash metal none of the thrash guitarists on this list wouldn't have even picked up a guitar and played their style

Look at his speed! He plays crazy, brutal, metal as fast like the speed train. He has many interesting things, like humor, his performance on the stage, and many else. M/

He is the innovative and shredding and headbanging and creative guitarist EVER! He may not have the most skill but he has the best sound and style. I just hope he knows Jesus Christ, because I wanna see him in heaven playing with the angels.

156 Uli Jon Roth Uli Jon Roth Uli Jon Roth is a German guitarist, who became famous as the Scorpions lead guitarist, and is one of the earliest contributors to the neoclassical metal genre.

Uli is truly amazing: wrote, produced, orchestrated and he is very innovative; invented the sky guitar. His lyrics are deep, interesting and positive, his sound phenomenal. From the early 70s to 2013, still progressing and making good music!

Uli Jon Roth, one of the founders of neo-classical, a player with amazing technical skills. A shame he's not higher up on the list. A bad song-writer and an even worse singer, yes, but his guitar mastery is paralleled by very few.

You hear people say that Sabbath (and maybe Priest) had a monopoly on "heavy" in the 70s, and that Van Halen and Yngwie invented neoclassical shredding. Yet, Uli was writing songs of a dark, heavy beauty in the 70s with the Scorpions (check out "Sails of Charon" or "Dark Lady") that sounded like no-one else, and infusing classical and Eastern sounds into metal in its early days. His later orchestral crossover work (e.G. "Under a Dark Sky") show him to be still a great player and songwriter.

158 Chino Moreno Chino Moreno Chino Moreno is an American musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist and contributing guitarist of Deftones.

What! He and Stephen Carpenter make one of the best alternative metal guitar duos ever! The best Deftones songs to hear Chino play are Change, Hole In The Earth, and Digital Bath. He deserves to be recognized for his guitar playing, even though he has very beautiful vocals.
