150 Uli Jon Roth Uli Jon Roth Uli Jon Roth is a German guitarist, who became famous as the Scorpions lead guitarist, and is one of the earliest contributors to the neoclassical metal genre.

Uli is truly amazing: wrote, produced, orchestrated and he is very innovative; invented the sky guitar. His lyrics are deep, interesting and positive, his sound phenomenal. From the early 70s to 2013, still progressing and making good music!

Uli Jon Roth, one of the founders of neo-classical, a player with amazing technical skills. A shame he's not higher up on the list. A bad song-writer and an even worse singer, yes, but his guitar mastery is paralleled by very few.

You hear people say that Sabbath (and maybe Priest) had a monopoly on "heavy" in the 70s, and that Van Halen and Yngwie invented neoclassical shredding. Yet, Uli was writing songs of a dark, heavy beauty in the 70s with the Scorpions (check out "Sails of Charon" or "Dark Lady") that sounded like no-one else, and infusing classical and Eastern sounds into metal in its early days. His later orchestral crossover work (e.G. "Under a Dark Sky") show him to be still a great player and songwriter.

He was the guitarist in the first ever death metal band Possessed, so that alone makes him worthy. You're right, I love Primus, but yet they suck.

Talented guitarist with great energy about him. His stuff I dig and it fits me. Remember, PRIMUS SUCKS!

157 Michael Weikath Michael Weikath

In my opinion he is better than kai hansen by a big mile.

One of the best powermetal guitarist in the world a lot better than kai and sasha put together

158 Dan Spitz

He's literally making Swiss watches, is great mates with Mustaine, was excellent in early Anthrax, and doesn't care about metal or fame. Interesting individual, full stop. He should start growing pumpkins with Jim Martin too.

Deserves a lot more credit and popularity than he gets, especially being the only lead guitarist for Anthrax all these years. His solos are awesome.

Better than all should be number one

159 John Sykes John Sykes John James Sykes is an English rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who has played with Streetfighter, Tygers of Pan Tang, John Sloman's Badlands, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Blue Murder.

Extremely talented guitarist that can shred like no other. Also a great blue player. Has got one of the warmest tones ever. Just check out his playing on songs like Holy War by Thin Lizzy or Crying in the Rain by Whitesnake. If you really want to hear an insane solo, check out Love Potion no.9 by Tygers of Pan Tang. - TheStargazer

160 Dan Donegan Dan Donegan Dan Donegan is an American musician and guitarist for heavy metal band Disturbed. Donegan began playing guitar as a teenager and eventually formed a band called Vandal, which was an 1980s-style hair band.

Disturbed, anyone? Incredible guitar solos. So technical. So crisp. Dan uses his extensive 1980s hair metal skills to form a new sound. He sounds nearly as good live as recorded. That says a lot to me.
