41 Mike Patton - Faith No More Mike Patton - Faith No More Michael Allan "Mike" Patton is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, film composer, producer, and actor, best known as the lead singer of the alternative metal band Faith No More.

A true vocal god right here. Can sing any genre effortlessly, and does things with his voice that I've never heard anyone in metal (including Devin and Kyo), or in most of music do. Some of these so-called singers here (even some legends), are laughable compare to this man (especially these young tools like M Shadows). Now to be fair, there are some people who can probably compete with his range... but they are outside metal and usually dwell in the experimental side of music. Anyway, the only reason he's placed so low in this, is because these lists tend to focus on popular people.

Mike Patton is very likely the most talented vocalist on the planet. How a cheap imitator like Serj Tankian makes the top ten and Patton sits at # 40 baffles me. Anyway, I don't consider him a "metal vocalist", simply because the vast majority of his work falls into other genres. As far as metal singers go, I would take Patton over any body. Ever.

HE CAN SING ANY GENRE! , I really don't know why he's not up a little higher.

I've never heard a vocalist who could literally sing any genre or any song like Mike Patton can.

42 Alissa White-Gluz - Arch Enemy Alissa White-Gluz - Arch Enemy Alissa White-Gluz is a Canadian vocalist, best known as the former lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the Canadian metal band, The Agonist, and current lead vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal group, Arch Enemy.

Alissa deserves a top 10 slot without a doubt! Also, no best of metal vocals list is complete without John Arch, Ray Alder, Midnight, and of course the mighty Ski (Deadly Blessing)! You sir need a metal refresher course or something! Many other legends too, but these few prove my point. Which is, this list blows!

43 Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom

How could anyone forget about Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper? I know his voice doesn't sound now as good as old times but he is still very cool. better on guitar but still the vocals are awesome

My favourite is MORRIGAN. A talented vocalist and guitarist. A truly talented musician.

Best vocalist in my opinion. Layne could take something very dark and sad and make it one of the most beautiful things you ever heard. RIP

Layne had an amazing range the guitar vocal duo in man in the box, the chorus of bleed the freak, and nutshell all prove how amazing his voice is. Truly the greatest
THe only metal I don't like is hair metal. and out of every genre listen to (Death metal, Black metal, Doom metal, Grunge, Heavy metal. Layne is the best vocalist I've found

The man can bring sadness to metal just by using his voice. He almost sound like he's on the edge of tears even when he's hitting those higher notes that require an angrier tone. The best in my opinion

The king of raw vocal power.

Huge huge huge range, comes after Bruce Dickinson when comes to delivering metal vocals - Flash667

Great voice with an incredible range.

Umm haha that girly voice of m shadows in top 10 and myles here, way to go idiots, actually its good for Alter Bridge fans as we get quality fans and the band doesn't get overrated like A7x

Alter Bridge is a metal band?

46 Anders Friden - In Flames Anders Friden - In Flames Anders Fridén is the vocalist/lyricist of the Swedish metal band In Flames. Fridén was also the vocalist of Passenger, a side project.

Extreme guttural vocals don't get nearly enough respect! Anders is the best of the best when it comes to guttural vocals! His clean vocals are damn good as well! It was a tough call between Anders and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. - sorteal

Amazing vocalist, and one of the most unique vocalist in metal, with black metal influence to his vocals

This list is a joke, don't know why I bother writing this anyways...
Baby metal isn't even metal...

47 Angela Gossow - Arch Enemy Angela Gossow - Arch Enemy Angela Nathalie Gossow is a German vocalist, best known as the former lead vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy.
48 Simone Simons - Epica Simone Simons - Epica Simone Johanna Maria Simons is a Dutch singer-songwriter. She is the lead vocalist of Dutch symphonic metal band Epica.

Simone Simons is a really awesome singer. His voice is mezzosoprano, but she can climb to the top notes of a soprano. It can be sweet, as aggressive. Master the classical technique as style rock / pop. Her voice is full of feeling, a feeling that is when she sings live. Not the typical super sweet soprano, she has a wonderful voicepoint, warm and dark at once. Not only sings, also composed some lyrics, very philosophical lyrics that really make you think, like "Sensorium" or "Storm the Sorrow", not just a pretty face, no, she really has a melodious voice, she's a goddess of metal with a heart of gold x

Such a beautiful voice. Her and Tarja rule symphonic metal

It's not really epic

How are Floor, Simone, Sharon so low on this list? Oh wait, they're not cool enough for the Abenged Sevenfold and Slipnazi fans.

49 Tommy Karevik - Seventh Wonder, Kamelot Tommy Karevik - Seventh Wonder, Kamelot Tommy Karevik is a Swedish metal vocalist, best known as the singer for metal bands Seventh Wonder and Kamelot.

Tommy is the best replacement for Roy we could ever imagine as Kamelot fans! I've seen him performing live 3 times now and got a chance to meet him as well. A great guy, great voice and awesome performance on stage! In Seventh Wonder he shows a different side and that is also amazing. I also love his role in Ayreon's Theory of Everything, the best Prodigy Arjen could have picked! My favorite singer!

Tommy Karevik is young, powerful and stupendous at leading two of the best prog/power metal bands on earth. He has righteously filled the huge shoes of Roy Khan singing for Kamelot, but he truly shines brightest with Seventh Wonder.

He's not just an incredible singer. He's an incredible person. What other singer do you know that is a firefighter as well as a fantastic singer in TWO bands (Seventh Wonder, which is also absolutely amazing), all the while being so humble and nice to those he meets.

He is my number 1 favorite vocalists of all time, I just love him its shocking he isn't higher in this list

52 Spencer Sotelo - Periphery

As Periphery grows more popular, more people will realize how unbelievable Spencer is as a vocalist, although his voice takes a while to get used to

53 Tarja Turunen Tarja Turunen Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen-Cabuli (born August 17, 1977), generally known as Tarja Turunen or simply Tarja, is a Finnish singer-songwriter. She is a soprano and has a vocal range of three octaves. ...read more.

Tarja is the goddes of metal, simply as that. Listen to the album Once, her vocal range there is but astonishing, from Nemo to Creek Mary's Blood, and the unforgettable Ghost Love Score, her voice is unique and majestic.

An angel amongst the herd of screaming knuckleheads in the genre

The goddess of symphonic metal, no more words need to be said

54 Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation Sharon den Adel, Dutch singer and the vocalist of symphonic rock band Within Temptation. ...read more.

Exceptionally beautiful voice. I like her way more than Tarja, for example.

55 Udo Dirkschneider - Accept, U.D.O. Udo Dirkschneider - Accept, U.D.O. Udo"Hassan"Dirkschneider is a German heavy metal singer who rose to fame with German heavy metal band Accept.

Is it some kind of a joke?

56 Johnny Gioeli - Axel Rudi Pell, Crush 40, Hardline

Really underrated vocalist. Everyone should listen to "The Masquerade Ball" by Axel Rudi Pell.

Johnny Gioeli is the best

One of a kind.

57 Ralf Scheepers - Primal Fear Ralf Scheepers - Primal Fear Ralf Scheepers is the vocalist for German heavy metal band Primal Fear. He has a relatively high-pitched tenor-esque singing voice and sometimes uses a shriek reminiscent of Judas Priest's Rob Halford, although it is his baritone lows which give him a near four-octave range in the modal register.

He should be Top 10-15. Obviously very underrated. He's a 4 octave wonder and his tone and singing style remind of Rob Halford a lot. - Metal_Treasure

Is my favorite metal vocalist, a great powerful, wide range voice.

58 Papa Emeritus - Ghost B.C.

Not only does Papa have an incredible voice, but he has an unmatchable stage presence. He is similar to King Diamond, with more mellow and evil sounding music. I urge all of you to start listening to Ghost. They are getting more and more popular as we speak. This is a bold statement, but I truly believe they are the Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath of our generation - ryanrimmel

Just a simply amazing voice deserves top ten!

60 Parash Sakya - Antim Grahan

He sings so fast. no one sings like him. Alexi is awesome too. And why the hell is Attila here when Dead is missing?

Awesome metal vocal from Nepal

It is actually Parash Shakya and I know this because I am Nepali. Well any way he is one of the greatest vocalist.
