The Contenders: Page 4

61 Slayer Slayer more.

They influenced countless metal bands and have been thrashing souls for 3 decades.

No way slayer can't be behind useless bands like the sword

62 Stone Sour Stone Sour Stone Sour is an American rock band formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1992, performing for five years, before disbanding in 1997. They reunited in 2000 and since 2006, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor, Josh Rand and Roy Mayorga.
63 In Flames In Flames In Flames is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden, formed in 1990. more.

By far the best metal band in this list.

Yes I know "they deserve a betta pwace on dis list, what sorcery is wis? 1? 1! ". Again, this is my opinion. I love their music, but it's screamo. It's very difficult to impossible to understand the first time, and difficult to relate to. They also seem to focus a lot on 2 things: fast solos, and even faster chorus.

GreatesT Band On Earth In FLAMES WE TRUST

64 Steelwing

Like a modern classic Judas Priest.

65 Deftones Deftones Deftones are an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California. The band, which was founded in 1988, consists of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Frank Delgado, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega.

Yes deftones are the best band on earth. The only band on this list that combines the heaviness with beautiful textures and sounds. And perfects it to make such an awesome band

Most of the bands on this list aren't very good (Avenged Sevenfold is number one and they aren't very good). This band is really good and should be ranked higher. - Imreallyboredrightnow

Very good,

66 Epica Epica Epica is a Dutch symphonic metal band, founded by guitarist and vocalist Mark Jansen after his departure from After Forever.

Epica is #47? I'm losing faith in humanity...

67 Sign of the Jackal

Best Italian band ever!

68 Primal Fear Primal Fear Primal Fear are a German metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner. They play heavy metal, power metal and speed metal. Primal Fear remind of Judas Priest but Primal Fear are faster and heavier. They use twin (dual) lead guitars. Ralf Scheepers voice reminds of Rob Halford.
69 Steel Horse
70 Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson is an American rock band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formed in 1989 by frontman Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz, the group was originally named Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids with their theatrical performances gathering a local cult following in the early 1990s. more.

There is nothing original about this overrated band. They're not even metal. They're not that talented.

The most original & unique artist ever

The guy's a total legend!

71 Behemoth Behemoth Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground.

Behemoth is just amazing. Insane vocals and powerful music. Brutal

An exceptional extreme band. Their last album, The Satanist, is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Truly dark, heavy and inspirational.

72 A Day to Remember A Day to Remember A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist more.

A shot in the dark by a day to remember is one of the best songs I've ever heard and heavier then just about any song by any other band on here I'm suprised at the amount of great metal bands like parkway drive, a day to remember, in flames and of mice and men are not even in the top ten. It just shows you that metals not all different then pop everyone bandwagons on the popular bands like slipknot to relate with their friends instead of doing some research and actually finding metal bands that sound good.

73 Trapt Trapt Trapt is an American rock band that formed in Los Gatos, California in 1995, best known for their 2002 single "Headstrong".

Trapt is a hard rock or alternative metal band. If I say their band name, you probably won't know them. But if I play "Still Frame" or "Headstrong" you'll be like " I blared that all day". Well these guys did that. These guys are the elite of metal. They have released 5 studio albums.

Not metal, but they're okay and definitely better than garbage like Escape the Fate, Asking Alexandria, or any scene garbage

Such great melodies and rhythms mixed up with a great voice

74 Fear Factory Fear Factory Fear Factory is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1989. During the band's career, it has released nine full-length albums and has evolved through a succession of styles, including industrial metal, death metal, groove metal, and thrash metal.

These guys are legendary! Forefathers and ground-breakers of modern metal as we know it today. Too bad people don't give them their rightful credit...

Come on now people... How are these guys not on the list?

76 Godsmack Godsmack Godsmack is an American rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The band is composed of founder, frontman and songwriter Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Shannon Larkin.

Sully Erna is a truly underrated vocalist. Shannon Hoon is a great drummer. The strings section of this band is fantastic. It would be great if they were ranked higher

Godsmack is amazing. Straight out of line is an intense song that has amazing musicianship between all members of the band!

Godsmack is one of the best metal bands ever!

Please vote godsmack

Are you kidding me? Awful name, bad lyrics, generic riffs, and the NIN cover was horrible. Get this off of here.

One of my favorite bands! This should be way at the top not 73...

They should be like #5 they have grown so much gaining so many fans they are a true metal band

All the bands at TOP 10 are great, I agree... But AA shouldn’t be at 77 :-/ I know they are pretty weak and kinda emo but still...77?

Skeletonwitch has been around for few years and their songs have been short... but epic! They really have talent and I think they deserve to be on this list. - Pzycho5
