Best Modern Metal Bands

141 Oceans Ate Alaska

Without a doubt some of the most talented musicians I've ever heard on album, seen live, and had the honor of meeting. With the creative and difficult rhythm of the guitars playing in great synchronicity, and a drummer who has some of the best technique and speed of any modern or classic metal drummer, this group from Birmingham UK will definitely be on your radar soon if they already aren't.

142 Whitechapel Whitechapel Whitechapel is an American deathcore band from Knoxville, Tennessee. The band is named after the Whitechapel district in East London, England, referencing the series of murders committed by Jack the Ripper.
143 Alestorm Alestorm Alestorm is a heavy metal band originally from Perth, Scotland. Their music is characterized by a pirate theme, and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band by many critics and their fanbase. V 1 Comment

150 Escape the Fate

If you like Bullet For My Valentine, then you'll like these guys. They're awesome all-around. The guitarist's lead guitar and the singer's vocals kill. I promise you won't regret listening to them. Ungrateful out on 5/14/13.

Horrible. For one, this is post-hardcore, not metal. Second of all, the lyrics are garbage, either trying to be all "bad," being whiny, or a mixture of the two. Their guitarist was their only good quality. Get this trash off. Screw scene music.

153 In Alcatraz 1962
154 Pig Destroyer Pig Destroyer

Did you just compare pig destroyer to asking Alexandria you 14 year old?

Honestly. And I thought asking alexandria was a bad name.

155 Steel Panther Steel Panther Steel Panther is an American comedy glam metal band from Los Angeles, California, mostly known for their profane and humorous lyrics, as well as their exaggerated on-stage personae that parody the stereotypical 1980s "glam metal" lifestyle.

Steel Panther are absolutely hilarious and while I wouldn't put them in the top ten, they deserve to be a little higher.

156 Hellyeah Hellyeah Hellyeah is an American heavy metal supergroup, consisting of Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray, former Nothingface guitarist Tom Maxwell, bass player Kyle Sanders, guitarist Christian Brady and former Pantera and Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul.

Lol dude these guys suck harder than a prostitute on the street corner.

157 Protest the Hero

They are the bomb. Four albums and not a single ballad because they focus only on rupturing your eardrums with jaw dropping metal. The vocals and lyrics are incredible plus intricate guitar and obscene drums make them my favorite metal band. Oh, and they're from Canada, eh!

The guitar work of PTH never ceases to amaze me; somehow, they are able to play incredible, snaking melodic riffs at top speed that never feel out of place in the song. And, they navigate through time signature and rhythm changes effortlessly! No two songs sound the same by them, partially thanks to Rody Walker's monstrous vocal cords. In fact, their lyrical composition alone puts them far ahead of any "metal" band like Linkin Park or Disturbed.

158 Toxic Holocaust Toxic Holocaust Toxic Holocaust is an American black/thrash metal band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 1999. The band has gained notoriety among the thrash metal community, and is arguably one of the most popular modern thrash metal bands. Toxic Holocaust also gained attention when their song "Bitch" was featured more.
159 3 Inches of Blood
160 Gama Bomb Gama Bomb Gama Bomb is a thrash metal band based in Northern Ireland. Their 2009 album Tales from the Grave in Space was one of the first albums ever released as a completely free download while signed to a record label.
