TheWriter Discusses: Modern Rock Bands pt. 1

Greetings everyone, cjWriter1997 here. This post will be discussing about some of my favorite bands as well as other great bands in the modern rock genre. I was just gonna do a remix but I felt that it wouldn't matter because there are already 150+ remixes to this list and there are many bands I want to talk about. So in this post I will discuss and even recommend some really great rock bands of the modern era.

First off, let me just say I have no specific favorite Rock band. I enjoy too much music to really decide an all-time favorite. When it comes to classic stuff, I prefer sometimes Rush or Pink Floyd. However other times I love to listen to the The Doors or Joy Division. Other great classic Rock bands I like are Queen, The Rolling Stones, a little bit of the Beatles, Deep Purple and David Bowie.

For modern rock it is even harder (pun not intended). I enjoy bands like Alter Bridge, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Rise Agianst and Shinedown. Then there is some of my childhood favorites like Red, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace and Evanescence. I also enjoy Foo Fighters, Coheed & Cambria, Chevelle, Muse, P.O.D. and System of a Down.

There are all types of modern rock to chose from. If you are the kind of person that finds older music too different or soft, try listening to newer bands like Weezer or Alter Bridge. Weezer is Alternative with great tracks (from their 90s era) like Undone and Across the Sea and even new stuff like L.A. Girlz and Da Vinci. Alter Bridge has tracks like Isolation and Metalingus and their epic Blackbird.

If you prefer more darker stuff, then listen to Korn or Disturbed. Even Chevelle can get a bit dark. Good tracks from Korn are Clown, Here to Stay and Falling Away From Me. Good tracks from Disturbed are Prayer, Another Way to Die and Ten Thousand Fists. Chevelle has great songs like Jars, The Red and I Get It. Also Radiohead is known for more melancholic and dark stuff. For example, Fake Plastic Trees (while softer than the other bands I mention) has very sad vocals that make you think and feel. But they also have songs like Paranoid Android or Creep that may sound more interesting to hard rock listeners.

Speaking of Radiohead, I consider them one of the greatest bands of today, even though they have evolved a lot throughout the years. Like Kid A, a complete change in sound from their previous record OK Computer.

This is it for part 1 for this Discussion. Part 2 will be here soon and I'll talk about more bands and music. I do not know how many parts it'll take but my guess is not too much. Anyway, let me know what you think about this. Should I continue this? I'll try a couple more of these because it is fun. Also what are your favorite bands. Let me know in the comments.

This has been TheWriter's Discussion on Modern Rock Bands, I'll see you next time.
