Top 10 Best Modern Rock Bands

The Contenders: Page 5

81 Nothing More

The first time I heard This is the time (Ballast), I was blown away. Anybody who follows active rock (like the kind you hear on Sirius XM Octane and other modern hard rock stations) know that Nothing More is pretty at the top of that genre right now, their self-titled album pumped out hit after hit (Mr MTV, Christ Copyright, Jenny, and several others). I've seen them live twice, and they're great on CD, but they are phenomenal live.

I absolutely love this band jenny, Mathew effect, and mr mtv are my favorites

82 Trans-Siberian Orchestra Trans-Siberian Orchestra Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an American progressive rock band founded in 1996 by producer, composer, and lyricist Paul O'Neill, who brought together Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli and keyboardist and co-producer Robert Kinkel to form the core of the creative team.

TSO is great... Excellent "bottom"!

83 Starset

Very good band, like the theme, style, and most importantly, the music. They haven't been around that long but their music is REALLY GOOD.

STARSET is my absolute favorite band ever! They have a unique and extraordinary style! I've listened to the album so many times and the music still sounds just as perfect as the first time I had heard their songs. Dunstin's voice is so beautiful and I have high hopes for what this band will do as they create more music!

How can this group be ranked 554 instead of 55 or something like this

They Should be at least in the top 50...please let's put them in the top

84 Adelitas Way

THEY'RE FIRST ALBUM WAS OKAY, THEY'RE SECOND RECORD HAD ALL THEIR SINGLES ON THE RADIO AND WERE TOP TEN ON THE U. S ACTIVE ROCK CHART. THEIR FIRST SINGLE "SICK" WAS #1, THEIR SECOND SINGLE "THE COLLAPSE" WAS #3, THEIR THIRD SINGLE "CRITICIZE" WAS #1 AS WELL, THEY'RE LAST SINGLE "ALIVE" MADE IT TO #6. THEY'VE IMPROVED a lot IN THE SECOND ALBUM. This band will indeed make an impact on rock with their upcoming third album, which is expected to be released around september and october time and will contain up to 12-13 songs. GO ALL THE WAY!

I've seen Adelitas Way three times. These guys give 100% at every performance. First album was great. Second album is amazing. Going to see them again at Uproar 2012. They will be a headliner in the near future because they are just that good.

Don't know who these guys are? Go listen to Home School Valedictorian before voting. Mind blowing stuff.

Best of the modern rock bands.

85 Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson is an American rock band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formed in 1989 by frontman Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz, the group was originally named Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids with their theatrical performances gathering a local cult following in the early 1990s. more.

What! I didn't even see Marilyn in this list, he is the best artist/work of art ever. Also a very interesting and intelligent person. You should be in 1st I mean come on people his music is a pure beauty.

Manson is one of the most influential musicians in history and I think its insulting that he is number 96. If every other artist in this list was running against manson during the manson hit years they all would have lost.

In my opinion, they have great lyrics and they are underrated in their genre, because people think they look "weird".

86 Death Cab for Cutie

I recently started hearing some of their music on my Pandora, and honestly, it's beautiful. I was shocked on how much I liked them when I found them. If anyone here is looking for a good band, I suggest search this!

DCFC is the best indie band out there and deserves to be in top 5. Excellent lyrics, music, melody and vocals are trademarks of this band. This band can belt out piano driven songs that creep slowly up and rise to a crescendo towards the end ( I will posses your heart, Soul meets the body )

87 12 Stones 12 Stones
88 Panic! At The Disco Panic! At The Disco Panic! at the Disco is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 and featuring the current lineup of vocalist Brendon Urie, accompanied on tour by bassist Dallon Weekes, guitarist Kenneth Harris, and drummer Dan Pawlovich.

Personally I don't think they should be too high up because there old guitarist and drummer weren't too talented at what they do but since they left the new members seem to have a lot of potential so maybe we will get some more complicated playing put of them

I love panic with all my heart but personally I don't understand why they're on this list, they're not a rock and roll band and they haven't been in 10 years

I don't think their genre is necessarily rock, but they definitely deserve a higher ranking on every list they are on recently. The old hits and the new album are too good to be this low.

This deserves to be at least top 50.

89 Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine is a rock band formed in Los Angeles, California. The band consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk.

Not even compared to the bands listed here... the band affected all of the others listed musically, guitarist officially one of the best of all times, vocalist too... their lyrics are meaningful beyond the boundaries of music, so is their lifestyle, which is rare these days (some of them)...

I can think of only a few other bands that match the quality and sheer power of Rage. Even when they aren't driving the beat into your chest with instruments, the intensity of their voices (think The Ghost of Tom Jones) alone gets your blood racing. If you need some rock & roll to get your adrenaline up, this is your band.

These people clearly do not know what good rock musics is. Rage is the BEST!

First self titled album, just can't beat it!

90 Wolfmother Wolfmother more.

How are Wolfmother so far down? They are amazing!

Really really really awesome!

There are the best in the world

A ridiculously underrated band.

91 Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath were a Heavy Metal band formed in Birmingham, England in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi, Singer Ozzy Osbourne, Bassist and Main Lyricist Geezer Butler and Drummer Bill Ward. The band got into mainstream after improving after their debut album got negative feedback. In 1978, more.

Black Sabbath invented Heavy Metal.

What is wrong with you people... Black Sabbath... Modern? They're low on this list, because they invented heavy metal. So they aren't a modern rock band.

"Paranoid Iron Man" is the best!

Bruh, they broke up like 37 years ago
Still a great band though

92 Saint Asonia Saint Asonia Saint Asonia is a Canadian rock band consisting of former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier, Mike Mushok, Corey Lowery, and Rich Beddoe.

Brand new rock group consisting of Three Days Grace's old vocalist, Staind's guitarist, and Finger Eleven's drummer. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this band!

There one album is quite impressive

93 A Perfect Circle

Should be much higher on the charts

While Tool brought the thought-evoking metal power, A Perfect Circle balanced the MJK equation with softer, more emotionally charged songs. Both Tool and APC have extremely skilled artists, that much is evident by even a cursory listen. I thought this would be higher on the list.

APC is one of the sole beautiful rock bands out there. Their songs have a feminine touch to them that make them unique and chilling.

94 Icon for Hire

They speak the truth in all of their songs. They're just really real, and I love that.

95 Franz Ferdinand Franz Ferdinand Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band, formed in 2002 and based in Glasgow. The band's original lineup was composed of Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Bob Hardy, and Paul Thomson.

This list is made by teenage girls who think they are edgy listening to linkin park because they haven't moved past the eminem stage just yet

96 Queens of the Stone Age Queens of the Stone Age Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, United States, formed in 1996. The band's line-up includes founder Josh Homme, alongside longtime members Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita, and recent addition Jon Theodore.

Hitting almost all corners of the genre, the band has had enough different members to merit their own "Queens of the Stone Age contributors" page on Wikipedia. QotSA has music that makes you want to dance, laugh, cry, have sex, punch a wall, and everything in between.

It's hard to understand or derive why Queens of the Stone Age are so underrated. They are a band that encompasses indie, alternative, and hard rock, and make songs that are a rarity these days - even among other rock bands. Uniquely awesome and they deserve to be commended.

Very underrated band, but one of the best ones out there. Josh Homme is a mastermind! Qotsa has a very special essence, definilety give them a try, you are going to love them. Albums like songs for the deaf, rated r, lullabies to paralyze and the new album like clockwork are amazing. One of the best bands ever!

See them live, and u would put them at one. Half of the bands in the top ten aren’t even modern. And it’s really sad he died, but Linkin Park is very annoying to be honest. Anyway, qotsa might be one of the best bands ever. Listen to songs for deaf, rated R, like clockwork, and villains ALL the way through. Just do that.

97 U2 U2 U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin. Formed in 1976, the group consists of Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. U2's early sound was rooted in post-punk but eventually grew to incorporate influences from many genres of popular music. Throughout the group's musical pursuits, they have more.

U2 is the best modern band of all time. They're also probably the most known which weird how low it is on this list. Maybe it's because of the itunes thing? I don't know. Maybe it's because people don't consider it a modern band. In my opinion it is both a classic rock and a modern rock band. They are one of the few bands who have been consistently good for their career. They are still making good music. For example their most well known song, Beautiful Day, came out in 2000. If that's not modern then I don't know what is.

Six out of the top 10 bands on this list are not good and the rest aren't as good as U2.

I'm now very annoyed because most of my favourite band on this list haven't made the top 50 ah bye bye and U2 should NOT be at 187

Beast band not much better than u2 and some pizza

Their music is good

98 Deep Purple Deep Purple Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although their musical approach changed over the years. Originally formed as a progressive rock band, the band shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. Deep Purple, more.

The longest lasting rock band out there, and still kicking ass! They are one of the BIGGEST influences on hard rock and heavy metal, bringing together the influences of In your face rock, the blues, and even classical music. The very definition of rock never seemed to be lost on them even until now. Up there With Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, this pinnacle hard rock band stands out like no other.

Purple live, nothing quite like it. Awesome

They don't make new music so their not modern
Great band though

99 The Allman Brothers Band The Allman Brothers Band The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman, as well as Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson. V 1 Comment

In 2005, lead vocalist Josh Todd and lead guitarist Keith Nelson reformed Buckcherry with a new lineup and released a new album in 2006, 15. more.

Although their music can be very exclipt, I reallly enjoy their songs! they bring the 80's back!
