Best Movies of 2005

The Top Ten

1 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Best star wars movie in my opinion it should tied with empire strikes back the duel is cool story very good much improvement of hayden and other character very underrated - Thirdwind

The most bestest(yes its a word) the most amazingnestest(dont even ask) totaly awesomenestes(... ) movie of the star wars triolgy - theTwister

The most exciting movie of this year. The best lightsaber fight we've all been waiting for. The final chapter of the prequels, and the most emotional and darkest Star Wars movie ever. This film is full of action at every second that it was too impossible for one to say it's boring. This movie has the most action, lightsaber duels, and scenes you don't want to miss in a blink of an eye. Obi-Wan was such a cool character, fighting Anakin and killing the kickass villian Grievous. This movie has an unhappy ending, but wraps up to the original trilogy. Gotta be the best film of the year

This is my favourite movie of all time! The thrilling scenes at the end make it the best, so no one can argue about this film! - micahisthebest

I went to see this at the El Capitan theatre! It was so cool. - MrGmo7

6 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

2005 was a bad year for movies (with the exception of 3 or 4 movies). This was the only movie of that year that I felt was FANTASTIC. - HawkWithAnOpinion

7 Madagascar
8 War of the Worlds

I like this film and I think it is good. - Badabooo2

9 Wedding Crashers
10 Constantine

The Contenders

11 Sin City
12 Walk the Line

This film is so good and so successful. - Badabooo2

13 Chicken Little

Um, I believe this movie should be in the WORST movies of 2005 instead of the best.

No, screw this movie. - FondaSu

14 Serenity

oh so good keeps you on the edge of your seat!

15 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Pretty meh to be honest.

This should be at least #5 - robertoiglesias271

16 The Legend of Zorro
17 Zodiac
18 Brokeback Mountain

Great performance - Badabooo2

I love them but they're SO overrated.

Heath Ledger gives the performance of a lifetime. This film is one of the best but avoided by many people. It is very misunderstood.

Again, why the hell to many blockbusters in the top 10? Come on people this movie needs to been on the top 5 at least

19 Mr. & Mrs. Smith
20 Flightplan

33 Kingdom of Heaven

I have not seen the theatrical version, but the director's cut was a great movie filled with some great performances. It may not be a history lesson, but it certainly deserves to be higher. - Mann0802

34 A History of Violence
35 Crash

A great philosophical movie about missunderstandings, racism, people connections and humanity itself, The best of the year - MatrixGuy

Live your life to the point of impact... Great acting from Ludacris, good singer and good actor at the same time. - roblist

36 Fun with Dick and Jane
37 Transporter 2
38 Capote
39 Are We There Yet?
40 The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl
41 The Island
42 Jarhead
43 Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
44 Howl's Moving Castle
45 Match Point
46 The Constant Gardener
47 Metal: A Headbanger's Journey
48 Munich
49 Caché
50 Oliver Twist

Don't go in expecting a song and dance extravaganza (thanks a lot Lionel Bart! ), Roman Polanski stayed true to the original novel, which is certainally more than what I can say for some of the other book adaptations ahead of this under the radar movie. You could actually feel the coldness from the workhouse and the narrow London streets.

Of all the adaptations of Oliver Twist this was one of the more faithful ones. Look out for Ben Kingsley as Fagin. Barney Clark has shades of a young Asa Butterfield too.
