I can not believe I have only watched that movie yesterday. I am not an emotional guy at all, usually don't get too attached to movies, and this was the only movie that actually made me cry. I have no words to describe how outstanding, breath-taking that movie was. My father watched it and recommended it to me, and I promised myself that my son will too, watch that movie. Simply a masterpiece.
This movie has everything from historical settings to fantastic war sequences to a love story to amazing special effects. I've read the book and Tom Hank's acting elevated the character from a fat dumb doofus who can play football to an insightful force of nature, teaching us all life's lessons. Brilliant from start to finish. And those elites who say this movie plays to the LCD, it's all about levels, children and adults and all races and genders will find something that will inspire them from this movie.
Most film critics don't realize how little their opinion matters. That's why you see movies on sites like rotten tomato with bad critic reviews but great fan ratings. They think their the standard for critiquing movies. Lol. Elitist know it all who actually can't understand the simplicity of what a movie rating is. Enjoyable or not. That's the only thing that matters. It's a form of entertainment. That's why you see so many "film experts" trying to downplay great movies like this one.
A movie full of encouragement, self-esteem and hope. Very inspirational and must watch of every young people and can get a lot lesson in life. Tom Hanks was such a very good actor especially on this role. I could even cry all over again while watching this movie. My left and right thumbs are thumbing!
Forrest Gump has everything I want in a movie: a great story, great actors, great music; joy and laughter, sadness (but not too much of it), some action, romance, family bonds, history, great scenery, struggle, triumph, etc. It is the best 'feel good' movie of all time. What else can you ask for? - eveflyaway
Every person I've ever asked to share there top 5 favorite movies of all time has included this movie. It's a beautifully woven tale, with moments of all emotional ranges. Forrest being directly involved in so many historical moments was a brilliant move that will never be emulated. There's nothing positive you can say that wouldn't fit this movie. PERFECT!
I have to admit that I have never seen the Shawshank Redemption before, so it could be a better movie than this, but compared to all of the other movies this is clearly the best. This movie made me have so many different emotions that I have never felt in any other movie before, and it was made so well that it is currently the best movie I have ever seen.
After avoiding the answer to the best movie of all time for so many years due to the difficulty of choice. I have come to the conclusion that Forrest Gump is to film what Bohemian Rhapsody is to music.
This is the best movie ever for obvious reasons:
It is very funny
It is very sad
Tom Hanks' performance may be the best out of any movie or T.V. Show
The technology used in the movie was groundbreaking... Putting Tom Hanks in those movies with JFK, lieutenant dan's legs not there...
Inspiration, tragedy, romance, action, comedy, drama, the best actor of all time, best soundtrack of all time, and a (no pun intended) genius plotline. Modern world events and culture through the eyes of a mentally challenged individual? Brilliant. All of this is wrapped up in one movie.
I've never cried so deeply for any movie ever before! You become emotionally attached to the characters so quickly its hard to let go. This is an EXTREMELY inspirational movie with amazing humor and an excellent story line that just blew me away. Could watch over and over again for days. So Emotional! Easily the best movie ever!
Hands down best movie ever.
The godfather, fight club, star wars... All are great but there are a lot of people I know who didn't like the godfather. I've never met someone who hates forrest gump.
Forest Gump is Perfect. It has everything Happy, sad, funny, history... It's the best.
This movie is the ultimate classic. One of the rare films that sees the viewer applauding the film involuntarily at the end. A bright, sweet growth of a young boy is paralleled with an equally sad tale of romance and friendship. The film's notable point is that it covers the most turbulent times of humanity..from the beatles to the end of cold war. Forrest's love for Jenny is eternal and the most symbolic of all love ever portrayed in screen. The film is narrated in good humour that we laugh even at its saddest moments. This is the best film of Tom Hanks and in my opinion deserved 11 oscars, much more than Titanic and Lord of the rings. This is one of the rare films where we find Hollywood's technology meeting art which we won't find much nowadays. It's the film of the 20th century by all means. - kattapa
I'm really excited that this is finally being recognized as number 1. Forrest Gump is the greatest film of all time. Tom Hanks delivers the performance of a lifetime and the entire movie is just perfection. Forrest Gump will always be my favorite movie. And that's all I have to say about that.
Its really an award-winning story... When I first watch it, I really can't deny the fact that it changed you.. The way you understand things and the "innocent" mind of Forrest reminds us what is the true meaning of LIFE.. I will never get bored watching it over and over again..
I love Forrest Gump I think it's my favourite Movie ever I've seen Forrest Gump Lots and Lots of times this is the best movie that Tom Hanks has ever done! Tom Hanks is my favourite actor he has done good movies like Saving Private Ryan Big The Green Mile Toy Story 1 2 and 3 and More but Forrest Gump beats them all!
I've lost track of how many times I've watched this movie. My mom bought it for me for my 12th birthday, and whenever I can't find something to watch on T.V., I'll just stick it in the DVD player and watch it. I think I could play the entire movie in my mind if I wanted to...
The Greatest Movie Ever. It has every movie genre. Tom Hanks is the greatest actor ever and this is his masterpiece. Just try and name something wrong with this film. I dare you. It's simply flawless and is one of the few movies that makes me cry every time.
The world will never be the same once you see through the eyes of Forrest Gump. Best movie in my life.
First time watching this movie when I was 16, and now I am 27 and still watching this GREAT movie. Never feel bored, I suggest this movie to a friend of mine and they all love it. Forrest look like dumb but what he doing is just like a fantastic man. BRAVO!
When you consider the brillant creativeness and uniqueness of this film, there are few that can even come close. It is impossible to compare this film to any others because it was such an amazing invention. It is at the top of my list.
You simply cannot beat a classic. I came here planning on voting for a different movie.. Than I saw this one and realized I couldn't, with a clear conscious, vote for another movie. It's amazing, and everyone should watch this at least once. - Strokavich
Watched more than 3 times in one single year! Love it so much! And when *spoiler - won't say, but probably you'll guess if you saw the movie* he says something to one woman I almost cry (even being hard-hearted). Amazing! Amazing! The best movie ever!
I have watched that movie about 4 times and it still gets me hooked. This guy was just dumb and later on he turns into a millionare, a Veitnam Vet, a man who ran the whole U.S. , a master at Ping Pong, he met the president several times, this man is great! - PePsMeX
This Movie right here really means something to me. It has taken a huge part in my life and inspired me like no other movie ever. Ever since I first watched it it's been my favorite movie and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. - Beatlesboy9
