Best Nas Albums

The Top Ten

1 Illmatic Illmatic

I mean, this may not be in the greatest sound quality, it is THE BEST ALBUM IN THE HISTORY OF RAP! He has the sickest flow in the song. It's like he is telling you a story! AND MOST OF ALL (UNLIKE RAPPERS THESE DAYS) HE MAKES SENSE! He raps about significant stuff. I feel as if Nas and Tupac are tied for best.

Top 3 couldn't be any more accurate. Illmatic is the greatest Hip Hop album ever, even though there is 10 tracks. Stillmatic and It Was Written are also brilliant. Nas is one of the greatest.

One of the greatest hip hop albums of all time., every track is a classic from ny state of mind to halftime to represent. Everything, from the beats to the subject to the rhymes is perfect.

This is not just the best Nas album, it's the best rap album of all time. So many great songs. The beats and lyrics are unmatched. If you are looking for more to why this album is perfect, it's because every song is unique in it's own way. I will rate every song out of ten on the track list:
The Genesis (intro)= 7(good intro)
N.Y State of Mind= 10 (amazing song about the streets of New York)
Life's a B----= 10 (great verses from Nas and AZ)
The World is Yours= 10 (great beat and lyrics that make it laid back)
Halftime= 9 (great rapping, especially for his first song)
One Love= 10 (chilled beat and great verses)
One time 4 your mind= 8 (good lyrics and catchy chorus)
Represent= 9 (cool lyrics, cool beat and catchy chorus)
It ain't Hard to Tell= 10 (3 amazing verses, plus great instruments)

Album in general: 10/10

2 It Was Written It Was Written

Has some top tracks like, Gave You Power, Affirmative Action, Nas Is Coming, If I Ruled The World and also The message!

Way ahead of any Nas work except for Illmatic and every song is legendary to listen to

Amazing work from Nas and it is one of the finest albums of all time, so well put together!

This is a great album with songs like "The Message" and "If I Ruled the World". Perhaps it shouldn't be ahead of "Stillmatic" but it is still a great album.

3 Stillmatic Stillmatic

Most amazing tracks and great vocal performances from Nas and other featured artists! Also features Nas' Ether which disses Jay-Z

Nas proved he was still the best in the east coast when he dropped this album jay z will never have anything on him I also think nas is better then biggie

Best diss track (ether), top five ever nas song (one mic), two great political hip hop tracks (what goes around, rule), most underrated nas song (got yourself a gun), and arguably his best production to date. A textbook nas album. - Themusicman

Stillmatic is a great album. This was when he was beefing with Jay-Z and he destroyed Jay-Z with his track "Ether" and the real standout song was "One Mic". One Mic is one of the best songs I have ever heard.

4 Life Is Good Life Is Good

I never thought a Nas album would ever break the top 3 of Illmatic, Stillmatic and It Was Written. But once again, Nas proves me wrong, I would put this at 3 ahead of It Was Written, this is a very mature album and blows me away, other than Summer On Smash this album is perfect, album of 2012.

It's been a long time I've been fascinated by Nas... Life is good is the illmatic of maturity. He's the greatest lyricist that haven't be killed yet. Amazing production, great arrangements, amazing flows... Nas is good

Definitely refreshing, I've kind of bashed illmatic and one day it's going to get stale, it's constructed of 9 songs and 1 skit. This album is very well put together and he killed this one, best he's done since stillmatic!

I call this album GROWN UP hip hop music from the thinking man's gangsta.

5 God's Son God's Son

This album is great from track 1 to the end. Nas proves that he is gods son. This is not as good as illmatic or stillmatic but is still a must buy. Top tracks 1) Made You Look 2) Thugz Mansion 3) I can 4) Mastermind

This album is so underrated. So many emotions, with his mother passing away. The song dance is definitely one of the most emotional nas songs you will ever hear.

Great songs, too top it all off it was one of the most lyrical albums ever made! God's SOn was a huge hit

Deserves the number 4 spot with songs like The Cross, Made You Look, Last Real N#$%a Alive, I Can, Thugz Mansion, and Mastermind. No offense to the album Life Is Good it is a brilliant comeback album - germshep24

6 The Lost Tapes The Lost Tapes

I think this is the most underrated album by Nas. Some of the tracks on it show that he has more talent than most rappers and I think it was this album that made me recognize him as truly one of the greatest rappers of all time.

It's not my favorite, but I already agree with the top 3, and than I had to think if to vote for this or to God's Son, and I chose this because there is just no way that I Am is better! - EMBIGNASPAC

My favorite Nas album. Lyrically he is off the chain and the beats are perfect. Just perfect. This is a really chill album. Love it.

This should be at least top 2 amazing album so underrated

7 I Am... I Am...

I Am... is a mad album and should be more praised in the legendary albums of all time! Nas is without a doubt the greatest rapper of all time, it is a masterpiece in Hip Hop

Greatest journey through hip hop lyrics and awesome beats! Nas is definitely the greatest rapper of all time

I Am is really good, and the song "Nas is Like" really improves this album. This is not the best rap album of 1999, but Nas is Like is the best rap song of 1999.

Not his best, but still good with great songs like Nas is Like, Hate me Now and NY State of Mind pat 2

8 Hip Hop Is Dead Hip Hop Is Dead

Probably Nas' most underrated album, this is brilliant, not really a bad song, and it's probably top 5 for me. Not outstanding but deserves more praise.

Had more singles than most albums on this list and should be in the top 4 because of its lyrical message and its meaning

Greatest lyrics and has a very good message, saying that Hip hop is dead and its all pop nowadays

Perhaps he should've went in a little harder with such a provocative title, but it's a solid 7/10 nonetheless - marmalade_skies

Good point. The title track was also very disappointing in that respect - Themusicman

9 Distant Relatives Distant Relatives

It's arguable whether Illmatic is the best or not but I do think that Distant Relatives should be up there. Very underrated album.

This album is one of the view by Nas that can be enjoyed by people who don't even like rap. Not saying his other albums are bad, but I wouldn't feel weird playing this around my friends who hate rap music.

Love this album! It just preaches such an amazing message. Its literally like philosophy! Seriously underrated!

Best collaboration I've heard ever. I love Nas and Damian Marley!

10 Untitled Untitled

A great album way ahead of its time and should be cherished as one of Nas' finest work!

His latest album which is so underrated. Hero is a mad song and should be played on the radio! Some great appearances by other pop artists as well!

So underrated and his latest album, has some great appearances from pop artists, rappers etc

Nas' most political album. Gets a little more hate than it deserves. - marmalade_skies

The Contenders

11 Street's Disciple Street's Disciple

Street's Disciple is Nas' most slept on album, and his best since Illmatic. Like his debut, it features a cohesive and uncompromising artistic vision, which he started on God's Son. The elements that are carried over from God's Son are refined, and he expresses far greater maturity on it.

Has gotten less media attention than his other albums, therefore Street's Disciple is often overlooked/forgotten definitely deserves to be number 5.

I think I stopped playing this album once I heard the line "I treat the nipples like pimples to get the puss, get it? ". So much cringe. - marmalade_skies

12 The Firm: The Album The Firm: The Album
13 Nastradamus Nastradamus

His worst album, an an identity crisis which he thankfully recovered from. The song Big Girl features Nas going full pedophile. - marmalade_skies

The most disappointing, weak rhymed album by the best artist, this album sucks, no wonder it has 0% of voters, at only place no.15

Nas' evolution from a gifted MC to a VISIONARY POET began with the "I AM..." album, and was fully realized on "NASTRADAMUS". With that said, this album is unequivocally Nas' most UNDERRATED and UNDERAPPRECIATED work. I could easily place this album in Nas' top 5, as well as being one of the greatest albums ever created.
