Best Neon Genesis Evangelion Characters
Rei Ayanami is without a hint of doubt the best and most iconic character not only of Neon Genesis Evangelion but of all anime. The injustice that have been the inferior Rebuilds movies and other spin-offs only serve as a contrast with the masterpiece that was NGE, where Rei was the key to it all, the character that tied all the plot together and that gave us one of the most complex, layered and nuanced to ever appear onscreen. Intelligent like no other, loyal to a tee, selfless in her pursuit of the greater good and brave like no other, Rei Ayanami is the true hero of Evangelion. Contrarily to what her critics and haters might say, she was never submissive nor emotionless, one must understand the horrible situation of abuse and neglect she faced during her upbringing to fully grasp her difficulty understanding her own emotions. Yet in one of the most deeply touching story arcs ever seen in anime, she learned to appreciate her own humanity, overcame her issues, defeated her abusers ...more
Rei is the smartest and least out lashing, and a professional in the field of Evangelions. Unit 00 is a marvel to behold, the most emotions in Evangeline to sight. Rei is sweet but performs perfectly. Rei Ayanami seems neutral to the rest of the characters and just does the job assigned. Reading is something Rei has no problems with as well. A very interesting and richest of characters in the Evangeline Saga. Awesome! Also there are different version of Rei unit from Subspace Base Red and Yellow to the best recital Blue and Black have ever seen with a sibling performing. White and Black or perhaps Grey too can also be seen in Unit 00, plus a Spear that can go to Space through anything and at times a Shield appearing as a Spartan in sight when the Unit 00 of Rei is in sight. Amazed, very fond of Rei Ayanami!
Rei Ayanami is intelligent, can perform as well as read casual. Rei has 2 main Evangelion versions, a base from subspace medal yellow and red. Plus a black and blue similar to a sibling piano recital background at the show. Unit 00 has more than 5 powerful weapons and are at Rei disposal. Also can seem as a hoplite with the helmet, spear and shield. Unlike the emotion display by Unit 00 at times and communication difficulty, Rei is not such as that. Amazing Evangelion!
Rei is by far the best character, insofar we're referring to the original Rei Ayanami.
Unfortunately, later "remakes" and "reboots" have been downard insulting in it's portrayal of the character. It definitely deserves so much more.
Of the main cast, Misato is shown to be one of the kindest and caring people. Does she have flaws? Yes. Does her hatred of the Angels sometimes bog her down and cause her to make mistakes? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, she does genuinely care about those around her, and feels the most like a real person to me.
She is amazing! I love her personality and I think she's a realistic character.
Best girl number 1 for sure.
Rei is boring. Go Misato!
Asuka dealt with so many problems as a child. Seeing her mother go crazy and even seeing her mothers dead body. Even though asuka can be quite mean she pulled through everything and hid her true personality. Asuka is a awesome character and my favorite from the series.
Don't like her. She lost her mother in atrocious conditions, so did Shinji.
But well, she's smart and can be kind sometimes.
She's my least character in the series, because she can be mean-spirited, and loathsome.
Easily the most complex likeable, with a personality unlike that brick named Rei.
Oh Lord! I love EVERYTHING about Kaworu! He is perfect, beautiful and... so gay! He was the only one who truly cared for Shinji. His fate at the end every single time is sooo upsetting. I just want to see him playing the piano with Shinji forever! Why isn't he number 1!?
He is kind and cutie
Ikari Shinji has the full range of Emotions, from Happy to Sa or Angry or Thoughtful or Content the character goes to extreme ranges of that sort throughout the show really. Might not expect the show might be dull without Ikari Shinji.
He may be different than other heroes who are brave and strong but that's why he's the greatest of them all. Being a hero doesn't always have to be about being brave and loyal.
Shinji should be number one. You don't HAVE to be a fighter to prove your worth as a character.
Brilliantly minded, sarcastic, and truly can take the heat.
He's so underrated.
