Top 10 Best Normal Type Pokemon

The Top Ten
1 Arceus Arceus is a legendary Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It first appeared in the 18th Pokémon movie alongside other Legendary Pokémon. In the Pokémon universe, Arceus is widely known as "The Original One", as it's believed to be the creator of the entire pokemon universe. According to mythology,... read more

Arceus has the greatest stat total of any Pokemon after Mega Mewtwo, but that doesn't count. Not to mention customization, it learns moves from most types and is able to learn most every HM and TM. Its stats are even the same. All of his stats are 120, so in Special Training, you can easily make a stat bigger.

Arceus has the best base stat out of every single Pokemon in the world with an epic 620 and can change forms into any type. It learns the most powerful move, Judgment. Staraptor's Close Combat is not even close to Judgment. I suggest you rethink about what a powerhouse Arceus is, as he deserves to be #1.

2 Snorlax Snorlax, known in Japan as Kabigon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Gen 1 powerhouse. Seriously, put Leftovers on and, with its massive HP and Attack stat combined with high Defense, it becomes formidable. It has a giant move pool, including Rest for when Leftovers aren't bringing it back to max. Sleep Talk for when you're resting. Then you have your choice of two others for massive damage. I'd say Arceus, but I don't believe Legendaries should be on top lists. They are legendary for a reason.

One of the most popular or unique Pokémon of the first generation. I don't understand why Arceus is #1 since it's a Pokémon that can change its type. Snorlax's only downside is its speed. Its movepool is devastating. It can learn moves such as Hyper Beam, Body Slam, Mega Punch, Mega Kick, Ice Punch, Rest, etc. Also, it is one of the most recognizable Pokémon.

3 Staraptor Staraptor, known in Japan as Mukuhawk, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Staraptor is an awesome Pokemon, mainly because he is a flying type and learns Close Combat. (When I get the chance, I am going to see if it can learn Focus Blast.) So, rock types are doomed! But Close Combat does lower some stats (can't remember which ones...). Overall, it is a good Pokemon to have.

This is the first ever Pokémon I got after Chimchar. Always have him in my team unless trading. Once, Cynthia was running strong and I had only Staraptor, he took down 2 opponents with full health!

He is the best normal type EVER. On the DS, I had a level 53 (or 54) Staraptor, and it THRASHED the Champ. I put this guy at number 1 on a list called Top Ten Non-Legendary Sinnoh Pokemon (A Remix). (Or something like that.) So, Staraptor should get like 1 million votes.

4 Slaking Slaking, known in Japan as Kekking, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

I find that Slaking is the only Pokemon with an ability that weakens the user and makes sense. Regigigas is a legendary, so Slow Start doesn't make sense, and Golisopod and Archeops don't even have OP stats! Slaking, however, has the biggest non-legendary stats, can be found very early in the game, and Truant represents his personality. But if you want an OP Slaking, play Balanced Hackmons on Showdown. (Fun fact: one time, Slaking was my HM slave in ORAS, and I was fighting against May with half of my team KO'ed. Then Slaking helped me in the battle, and I won!)

5 Porygon-Z Porygon-Z, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

It's ridiculous. Download raises one stat, generally a good switch-in on something with a lower special defense than defense (that's how it works). Adaptability is also insane for the 2 times STAB boost.

Even better, 7th gen Z-moves. Z-Conversion is a popular move that not only changes the type but also raises every stat by 1 stage, excluding accuracy and evasion.

Its pre-evolution won't get KO'ed with Eviolite, but this can sweep with access to Discharge, Psyshock, Tri-Attack, etc. In a tough spot? Use Recover and keep sweeping.

My set? I never use it much. Maybe a special sweeper with Life Orb.

6 Ditto Ditto, known in Japan as Metamon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Ditto can change into any Pokémon. Now, this move is really a cool one. Just think if he changes to Arceus, now that's a matter to think about... But unfortunately, he can't.

Basically any Pokemon. While it can be countered if the Pokemon you're copying carries a choice item, it still is a headache to deal with.

Hello! This thing can transform into any Pokemon. It can just knock down Arceus by transforming into better Pokemon (no offense to Arceus fans). Ditto rocks!

7 Jigglypuff Jigglypuff, known in Japan as Purin, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Jigglypuff is amazing. I crushed a Charizard with it. It should be number one instead of a stupid deer some people say did, but did not create the world, space, and Pokémon.

Putting people to sleep, that's what Jigglypuff does. It's useless! To see if it was good, I tried using it against the Elite Four, and it was just crushed. It shouldn't even be on this list. It should be 20.

When I played any Pokemon game, I used a Jigglypuff because of my combination of Sing and a mixture of moves like: Water Pulse, Energy Ball, Thunderbolt, Psychic, Earthquake, Ice Beam, and the list goes on. Plus, it has a heck of a lot of HP, especially when it evolves into Wigglytuff. And besides, who can hate a cute Pokemon?

8 Zangoose Zangoose, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Zangoose looks like a rabbit chicken! No offense to Zangoose fans, but I'm not as into Zangoose as you are. Zangoose may have awesome attacks! I do have a reason to kind of like Zangoose, and that is because it can learn the move 'False Swipe'. X-Scissor and Swords Dance are other ways to win! The only problem with most moves Zangoose can learn is they can't affect ghosts and are not very effective against steel and rock, and weak to fighting. I do have a lot to say about Zangoose!

To make Zangoose stronger, you can add a Ghost type to it and more moves to match it with even strength against Ghost Types. Having a good advantage against other Normal types and Fighting types but a disadvantage to Dark Types and Fairy types, and that is a downside to adding it. I hope you agree with me about Zangoose, and we can help Zangoose get stronger! Who agrees?

9 Eevee Eevee, known in Japan as Eievui, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise first introduced in the games Pokemon Red and Blue. Considered as the evolution Pokemon, it has the most evolutions out of all Pokemon species. Eevee can evolve to Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon,... read more

Don't underestimate Eevee! In Sw/Sh, it can learn TR Shadow Ball – Shadow Ball! This allows it to use a super effective move against Ghost types. I also taught my Eevee Dig. If you train your Eevee well, you can make it an OP Pokémon. I trained my Eevee rigorously and it outsped almost every Pokémon I encountered. Yes, it is somewhat overrated due to its cuteness, and many love it mainly for its Eeveelutions. However, if you invest time in making an Eevee strong, you'll end up adoring it.

Eevee is love.
Eevee is life.

Eevee is an underrated Pokemon. She is so cute and has eight different evolutions. She has all sorts of powerful moves such as Bite and Skull Bash. She can easily beat a Pokemon with the Wonder Guard ability, since normal and fighting moves are effective against this ability. Eevee is the best normal type ever.

10 Regigigas Regigigas, known in Japan as the same name, is a Legendary Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Despite a terrible ability and a lackluster moveset, I think just the sheer design and stats of this Pokémon are what make it stand out for me. The first Pokémon game I ever played was Pokémon Sapphire, and the whole discovery and mystery of unlocking the Regis is one of my favorite moments in Pokémon history. When the 4th generation finally came out, I knew I had to capture Regigigas just for the nostalgia. Call me what you want, but I think Regigigas deserves to be in the top 10 normal types!

Regigigas may be underrated due to its ability, but I still see potential in this Pokémon. I recognized so much potential that I trained it to level 100. Consider giving it Toxic/Thunder Wave. Regigigas is an effective Toxic/Thunder Wave staller because it is a bulky Pokémon. Also, equip it with Hyper Beam for damage coverage. Don't forget Crush Grip, as it is its signature move. Finally, Zen Headbutt is useful to counter Fighting-types, though it could be replaced by Earthquake, a powerful move. In essence, Regigigas is not as bad as you might think.

The Contenders
11 Ursaring

Ursaring is awesome! When you put a Flame Orb on it and it has the Guts ability paired with Facade, it wrecks the opponents! Also, its pre-evolution, Teddiursa, has a Crescent Moon shape on its forehead, and Ursaring has what could be described as a Full Moon shape on its belly. Could this be a possible mega evolution for Sun and Moon?

Ursaring can destroy any wall, especially when it's holding a toxic orb. Few can withstand the mighty Guts-boosted Facade off of a base 130 attack!

Ursaring is awesome, and its special ability, Guts, can really help in some battles. Plus, it learns some strong moves.

12 Blissey Blissey, known in Japan as Happinas, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It was first introduced in generation II. Blissey is the final evolution of Happiny and is evolved from Chansey when it has a high friendship.

You want to use it as a support, by putting Aromatherapy and Wish on it. However, if you want to attack with it, make sure you put Sp. Attack EVs on it, as it's the only stat besides health that is usable. Use Thunder Wave to paralyze, then you have a pretty good selection of special moves to use.

Just make sure you switch it out from rock types, and especially fighting types.

In my opinion, Blissey is, after Shuckle, the best wall in the game. It has a 255 HP stat which comes down to 714 HP at level 100. I'll admit: its attack and defense are lacking, but when you're searching for a special wall for your team, Blissey is the one you're looking for. It's very good, like Snorlax and Slaking, but Blissey is overloaded with instant-recovery moves. I may hate pink Pokémon, but Blissey is the exception, just because it can last long in battle.

13 Bouffalant

Oh my gosh! Ghetsis's Bouffalant, not Hydreigon, literally wrecked my whole team in Black and White. Not to mention a wild one with lower levels than me took out a few Pokemon too. I had to get my Chandelure in just to take this thing's Head Charge. It seriously OHKO'ed my whole team except him, with no boosts. Vote Bouffalant!

Head Charge wrecks anything that doesn't resist it. Now think about that if you gave it a Choice Scarf.

The Champion Alder uses him for a reason. If he becomes our good friend, then you're unbeatable!

14 Diggersby Diggersby is a dual-type Normal/Ground Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon franchise's sixth generation. It evolves from Bunnelby and is known for its powerful digging abilities. Diggersby's large ears and burrowing skills make it adept at excavating tunnels and navigating underground. Its combination... read more

Do you do Pokémon Showdown? It's in the first borderline for a reason! Dude could have Huge Power, which is OP, Agility, Earthquake, and anything makes it OP! I also think it learns Swords Dance, so that, too.

At first, when I was a casual player, I looked at his base stat total and thought that he sucked. When I started doing competitive, I saw HUGE POWER, and I was all like, I'm so sorry for neglecting you all this time, Diggersby. Also, it's an AMAZING choice band user.

On Pokemon Showdown, he is the first borderline. Even though I personally prefer Volcarona of the Borderline mons, you can't deny the strength of this Pokemon.

15 Kangaskhan

Mega Kangaskhan with Power-Up Punch, Sucker Punch, Drain Punch, Return/Fake Out. Wicked powerful.

Mega Kangaskhan, Power-Up Punch, Outrage.

Really, do I even have to explain? That Mega is too OP, no matter what.

16 Miltank Miltank, known in Japan as ミルタンク, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It was introduced in Generation II of the series and is a female only species categorized as the Milk Cow Pokémon. It is a Normal type Pokémon... read more

Apart from its fantastic use in the core series games, I would also like to make note of its use when it's not in battle. Miltanks usually chill out in pastures, similar to farms or ranches in real life, and they are capable of producing copious amounts of milk, like an endless supply. Not even real dairy cows can produce that much milk. It's honestly amazing, even though I am mildly lactose intolerant myself. Also, the names I have chosen for my Miltank in HeartGold are "Otis," after the cow from the Barnyard series, "4 Nipples" (I just wanted to be clever), and the names of two female country singers, "Dolly" and "Reba."

17 Exploud

Exploud should be in the top ten. Mine has Overheat and Surf, and although she doesn't get the type boost, the moves still throw off opponents every time. Don't even get me started on Boomburst. What a fantastic special attack. Side note, I bet tons of trainers plug their aux cords into Exploud and jam. Why wouldn't you want this Pokemon?

Why isn't Exploud in the top 10? With Choice Specs, STAB Boomburst, and other special attacking moves, it's absolutely incredibly good. Vote for Exploud and try him out.

18 Aipom Aipom, known in Japan as Eipam, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This thing needs a mega. MEGA Aipom would be the new HUNTER of Arceus. I wish Ambipom didn't exist and I wish Aipom could use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact. Aipom is adorable, smart, funny, strong, fast, and kind.

He's one of the best normal type Pokemon you can catch. I don't see how he's this far back.

19 Meowth Meowth, known in Japan as Nyarth, is a Normal-type Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it was first introduced in the Pokemon Red and Blue, and is also known as the mascot of Team Rocket in the anime. At level 28, it evolves into Persian... read more

A cat-like Pokemon... I certainly like cats, but a cat-like Pokemon! Awesome! With its lucky amulet and piercing claws, I think it's awesomely fantastic!

Yeah, the thing about Team Rocket literally ruined this amazing Pokémon. Meowth's past is really moving, but that doesn't mean I like cats, nor do I hate them. They're just treated like lizards. Guys, just watch "Go West, Young Meowth."

Meowth is not only cute but cool. Hey, people who don't like cats, well, you don't like Meowth.

20 Tauros Tauros, known in Japan as Kentauros, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Absolutely the best normal type with its 490 base stats. As fast as other lightning-speed Pokemon, it can sweep the whole team with its ridiculously strong attack and defend itself from any kind of attack (except fighting type) with its unwavering defense. Absolutely my choice!

Best normal type ever. Insane speed, high attack, and mediocre defensive stats make this beast a monster on the battlefield. Should be in the top 5.

Looks like a beast, mad attack, faster than 90% of all Pokemon, complete with its tails and amazing mane! No more need be said.

21 Smeargle

Guys, really vote for Smeargle! Sure, it has horrible stats, the second-worst stat total, but think about it: it can learn every single move! If you want to be cool at the game, get a Smeargle with a nature that raises speed and lowers special attack, and hold a Focus Sash. Maximize health and speed with 252 EVs each, and then sketch the four moves. Start with Spore to put the opponent to sleep. Spore is a grass-type move, has 100% accuracy, and can affect all Pokémon, including Flying and Ghost types.

Then use Agility so you won't be outrun. You could use it twice if you want, but if the enemy wakes up, you're dead. Some Pokémon only sleep for 2 turns, some have berries or abilities to prevent it, but I would use Agility and then I'm faster, so then lock on. The next turn, they might wake up, because this would be the third turn, but Agility makes you faster, so now use Sheer Cold. Not Horn Drill – it doesn't affect Ghost types. Not Guillotine – it doesn't affect them either (I think. Is it Normal or Water? Fissure is Ground and doesn't affect Flying types). Sheer Cold? Yes, it gets them all. So to review, that's first up, Spore, then Agility, Lock-On, then Sheer Cold. Lock-On could be Mind Reader. Who really cares?

Once again, Spore, Agility, Lock-On, Sheer Cold, nature – speed up, special attack or normal attack down (it doesn't really matter which attack), then hold a Focus Sash. You are now unstoppable. Yes, sure, this strategy could totally be stopped and be a wasted slot on your team if the opponent simply has a Chesto or Lum Berry or Vital Spirit or something like that, but if not, you win.

22 Stoutland

This Pokémon is one of my favorites. It is incredibly strong, has a solid moveset, and its design is awesome. Additionally, it made for a very emotional moment in the Sun and Moon anime. That moment when Litten hugged Stoutland during his final hours before passing away made my heart sink. Stoutland is a perfect companion and a top-five worthy Pokémon, in my opinion.

This is an awesome, tough, and cool-looking Pokemon. I mean, just look at that mustache! Anyway, Stoutland has great all-around stats. It was pretty overpowered early on in Black and White, and it's still a beast throughout the game. This needs to be higher.

23 Lopunny Lopunny, known in Japan as Mimilop, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Lopunny has a lot of variety going for it. You never know if it's going to be offensive, defensive, support, mega, or a Baton Pass user. It's really hard to predict. I, for one, use a defensive-offensive variant with Cosmic Power.

Choice Scarf Lopunny can outspeed quite a bit. With its Mega now, it can hit anything really hard. Showdown. Move it up.

Lopunny is not my favorite, but being back here, she does not deserve that.

24 Bewear

Also part fighting and releases bone-crushing hugs. Why on 21st place? WHY?!

Judging by the anime, it's a god! Finding Team Rocket - perfect eyes/nose/ears, or maybe she's psychic. Taking them - can jump, fly, run on water faster than anything. She is the only Pokémon that owns humans and not the other way around.

Are we talking about the best or coolest? Well, either way, this thing wins.

25 Delcatty

Aside from being adorable, Delcatty has great stats and some of the strongest moves a normal type can learn on its own, as well as being able to learn plenty of TMs. Also, Assist is awesome.

While playing Pokémon XY, I came across a beauty. Skitty, my favorite Pokémon, was my first encounter on route 4. It was shiny. It is now a Lv.100 Delcatty with Blizzard, Solarbeam, Play Rough, and Assist. It kills everything.

Why isn't this up in the top ten? My Delcatty is level 100 and knows these moves: Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Shadow Ball, and Psychic!
