Top 10 Best Nu-Metal Albums

The Top Ten
1 Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

My List:
1. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
2. Korn - Korn
3. Follow The Leader - Korn
4. Slipknot - Slipknot
5. Fallen - Evanescence
6. Meteora - Linkin Park
7. Around The Fur - Deftones
8. Chocolate Starfish - Limp Bizkit
9. Iowa - Slipknot
10. Toxicity - System of a Down

Linkin Park all the way!

Hybrid Theory got me used to liking Linkin Park and is the best nu-metal album that is out there. Favourites are definitely "In The End", "Paper cut" and "A Place For My Head". The album being played at Download in 2014 completes how good this album is and will be in the future!

2 Korn - Korn

This is THE Nu Metal album. Korn legitimized a movement in heavy music. Shoots and Ladders was Nominated for Best Metal Performance at the Grammy's. Without this album there is no Slipknot, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, System of a Down, or Disturbed most likely. One of the most important metal albums. Period.

The best nu metal by perhaps the best nu metal band, Korn started the whole genre and this is the album they opened with. Hybrid Theory is a good album but KoRn is better, the second best is probably Life Is Peachy or Follow The Leader

3 Slipknot - Slipknot

Linkin Park is the Metallica of nu-metal
Everyone blindly votes for them even though there are better bands
KoRn may have created nu metal
Linkin Park may have made it popular among mainstream audience
But Slipknot took it to a whole another level, full of anger, rage and energy.

This album is the beginning of success from Slipknot... And the first time nominate grammy for song "wait and bleed"

Al hope is gone isn't even Nu - Metal... This should be WAY higher than all of the other albums on this list... RIP Paul

4 Toxicity - System of a Down

I'm really not a fan of nu metal, but I popped this in because of recommendation from a fellow friend. And I was delighted and shocked to find that I loved this record. Serj has an absolutely amazing voice and the guitars and drums are so crisp and clear. Amazing album

Perfection of Alternative Metal(Including Nu Metal which is part of Alt Metal and this album is Nu). The heavy parts, the calm parts, and the overall fact that the best System of a Down songs are from here, make this the best Nu Metal album.

5 Iowa - Slipknot

Chad Aplin is a great guy.
Corey Taylor's screams,
Joey Jordison's drums,
Mick and Jim's guitars,
Bass, turntables, sampling and Extra percussion!
People = The Heretic Anthem rocks.
Maggot 4 life!

This album literally changed the life of millions of maggots. Definitely one of the greatest Nu metal albums of all time.

Like their S/T but more focused and even heavier with little rapping. The best the genre has to offer. Awesome album.

6 Follow the Leader - Korn

This one album from this one band is the only reason any of these other albums exists. KoRn is kinda the black Sabbath of nu metal. No one can really deny that.

One of my favourite albums of all time and myou favourite nu metal album. Best song on here in my opinion is pretty.

This album made nu metal what it is today. Definitely deserves to be #1

7 Meteora - Linkin Park

Linkin Park's Album at its prime. Every song are masterpiece, Numb; Somewhere I Belong ; Don't Stay; Breaking the Habit. This is the most successful album in the history of the Alternative Songs chart!

Best album ever. Numb, Breaking The Habit, Lying From You, Don't Stay, Faint, Somewhere I Belong, From The Inside, Easier To Run, Figure of 0.9 and Nobody's Listening...
I love this album.

Minutes really should be before Meteora. I mean, meteora has some good hits, but Minutes to Midnight is great as a whole, and songs have mature lyrics..

8 System of a Down - System of a Down

Best out of all of these. Though they don't really incorporate rap in their music, they're just lumped into the nu metal genre, and as they are, highly surpass every other band here.

Not actually Nu Metal but one of the greatest albums in the History of Metal Music

9 L.D. 50 - Mudvayne

Probably the one that is more underrated on this list. Kinda ridiculous make-up, but in my opinion one of the nu-metal classics and there's a lot that stands out here. Nu-metal, but way more complex than it deserves to be, bass guitar that actually stands out, extremely solid rhythm section (I'd personally say the best out of any band in nu-metal), but also great screaming and thick guitar that actually goes well with bass rather than drowning it out.

This is more than just nu-metal. It's one of the most influential progressive, groove metal albums of all time. We probably wouldn't have Devildriver or any other modern groove metal bands out today. This is far more metal than Linkin Park and how did a bunch of posers (Slipknot) get up here? Deftones also need to be in the top ten as well with either Adrenaline, Around the fur or White Pony. After that they turned into a sludge metal style band.

10 Adrenaline - Deftones

Without this album, there would be no rap influence in nu-metal or angst. This is way heavier that Slipknot and deserves to be higher on the list. This is the rawest, most aggressive and heaviest Deftones release you'll ever find. Best tracks are: bored, one weak, nosebleed, minus blindfold, lifter, root, 7 words, engine no 9, first and fireal (fireal, nosebleed, 7 words and engine no 9 are the heaviest tracks) The only track I didn't like was birthmark because it was a bit too depressing.

This is definitely my favourite nu-metal album, but it is close; Issues was a great album too.

The Contenders
11 Issues - Korn

No way is this 71. This was a great album, and deserves more awareness.

12 Chocolate Starfish and The Hot Dog Flavored Water - Limp Bizkit

Ye I know this band gets a lot of hate butt this album is great... like GREAT!

This album is so underrated like so many people bash this album but it's so decent

13 Around the Fur - Deftones

I'm sick and tired of Linkin Park and Skipknot taking the top of these Nu Metal lists. Deftones beats all these bands not only in heaviness (My Own Summer, Lotion, Headup) but also in progressiveness (Be Quiet and Drive, Dai the Flu, Mascara). In fact it's very controversial to even call Deftones Nu Metal in the first place.

If there's no Deftones on Top 10 of Nu Metal - this is not Top 10 of Nu Metal.

Yeah this is the best if their albums in my opinion, heavy, melodic, and is also on the list if too 50 greatest metal albums of all time (music radar.com)

14 The Sickness - Disturbed

Great album. Down With The. Sickness and voices are my favorite songs

15 Significant Other - Limp Bizkit

Nothing can quite prepare you for the onslaught that is Limp Bizkit's breakthrough album, Significant Other. Starting with the almost dubby beats of the intro, with a foreboding voice explaining that if you wanted the worst, then you've got the worst. The album then kicks into fairly comfortable territory with Just Like This. Smash hit, Nookie, follows up with its infections rhythm and sing-along heaviness. If you know nu metal, then you know Break Stuff, the fourth song on the album. It's brutality is cathartic as Fred invites you to vicariously threaten people with chainsaws. Re-arranged is the complete opposite, having exhausted his anger in the previous song, Fred and company offer the listener a crooning ballad about his break up. I'm Broke is perfectly placed to pick up from where Break Stuff started, raging against fairweather friends. Nobody Like You features Scott Wieland and Korn's Jonathan Davis who's contributions create a unique blend of heavy, funky and creepy sounds and a drum solo from Jon Otto that never feel out of place. Wes Borland's minimalist style of guitar is show-cased on Don't Go Off Wandering, and again in 9 Teen 90 Nine, creating fitting backgrounds for Fred's raps and screams. The last minute of 9 Teen 90 Nine is pure party-metal, slipping into a skit that leads into the closest Limp Bizkit ever came to hip hop, N 2 Gether Now. Method Man's guest performance cements this as one of the great Rap/Metal collaborations of all time. Trust? Makes up for N 2 Gether Now's lack of metal by doubling down in brutality in this fight song, only pausing for Fred to ruminate over his trust issues before kicking back into first gear. An interlude builds into another crooning ballad about the valuelessness of meaningless sex, before the shout-out song Show Me What You Got (a reworked live favourite, Cambodia). A Lesson Learned strips back Limp Bizkit's sound, creating an almost soothing atmosphere, before Outro sums up the album, with a return to the... more

16 White Pony - Deftones

Come on. White pony is a flawless album

This album no where near Nu-Metal.

So I listened to this album because cjWriter1997 said this was really good, well he was right about it being good while I don't think it's the greatest album ever made it definitely is the best Nu Metal album

17 Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine

I don't really classify RatM as Nu Metal, honestly. However, this album is easily one of (if not the most) influential album of the 90's and it deserves the top spot for that reason. Tom Morello is one of the most creative guitar players of all time. Brad Delson has yet to achieve anything nearly as significant as the riffs and crazy solos Tom Morello feeds into RatM's music in every song.

RATM are the godfathers of nu metal. Without RATM the will not be bands like Limp Bizkit

Not nu metal really, but still my favorite one of my favorites, deserves better than #15

18 Sinner - Drowning Pool

Drowning Pool first singer was awesome!

19 Life is Peachy - Korn
20 Wisconsin Death Trip - Static-X

Should be in the top 5 at least for Nu Metal! Ridiculously low...vote to get this where it should be. Who didn't go the summer of '99 without singing along to "Push It". The entire album has great songs throughout. Well constructed and blends the nu metal sound with industrial metal perfectly.

Limp Bizkit higher than static x, huh?

21 Coal Chamber - Coal Chamber
22 The Fundamental Elements of Southtown - P.O.D.
23 Mezmerize - System of a Down
24 Vol.3: The Subliminal Verses - Slipknot

Great song followed by great song on this album, even the intro is great! It also included the hits Duality, Before I Forget, and Vermilion Pt. 2.

25 Three Dollar Bill, Y'all - Limp Bizkit
