Best Players in Philadelphia 76ers History

The Top Ten
1 Julius Erving Julius Winfield Erving II, commonly known by the nickname Dr. J, is an American retired basketball player who helped popularize a modern style of play that emphasizes leaping and playing above the rim.

He was everything for the Sixers a legend did things that no one could do on the court just unbelievable to watch you never left the T.V. because you didn't know what he was going to do next.

Noones beats him he's just that good! By far one of the all time greats in NBA history

I wish I could have been alive to view Dr. J's greatness. A true legend.

The Doctor should be number 1. When you look at the 76ers as a hole you think of Dr. J.

2 Allen Iverson Allen Ezail Iverson is an American retired professional basketball player who played for 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association.

AI played with more dedication and heart than Wilt could ever have. He endured multiple injuries and barreled past heavy criticism. Unlike Kobe, Iverson was always honest with the media. He never said that he was the greatest and he never said that he was a passer. All he said was that he could score and help the team win. Iverson led the league in scoring multiple times and had more assists than MJ. He led a sorry Sixers team to the Finals against Kobe and Shaq's Lakers. In Game 1, AI had the best game of his life and led the team to a victory. Iverson was also a legit pickpocket and, above all else, he was an individual who stayed true to himself and influenced a generation. That's why Iverson should be the greatest Sixer of all time.

3 Wilt Chamberlain Wilton Norman "Wilt" Chamberlain was an American basketball player. He was born on August 21, 1936 in Philadelphia and died on October 12, 1999 in Los Angeles due to heart failure.

Wilt Chamberlain set the books by scoring the most points scored in a single game (100), most rebounds in a game (55), and most consecutive field goals (18).

He played for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. His biggest rival was former Boston Celtics center Bill Russell, but they are also good friends. He won 2 NBA Titles, 1 with the 76ers and one with the Lakers. ...read more.

Wilt and Dr. J met on the court several times, though Doc was young and Wilt was very old. At Rucker Park, Wilt always ruled. There was the occasional hotdogger like Doc or Earl the GOAT, but the truth is if you dunked on Wilt in a Rucker game, he never let you near the rim again. In the single ABA/NBA All-Star game where they met before Wilt retired, Doc did pretty much have his way with all of the NBA players, except for Wilt, who never allowed him a layup much less a dunk when they were on the court at the same time.

4 Charles Barkley Charles Wade Barkley is an American retired professional basketball player and current analyst on the television program Inside the NBA.

Easily the best player in the Sixers franchise from the 1990s until Allen Iverson. In the 1990-91 season, Barkley averaged 27.6 points per game, his 2nd best scoring season ever, and was named to the all NBA team for the 4th straight year. Named the NBA All-star game Most Valuable Player and led the Sixers back to the playoffs. A legend for all times.
