The 1915 team was the first great championship team for the fightin' Phillies. This team had a great amount of all stars long before the all star game was invented. This pitching staff allowed the fewest runs in the National League and was led by Hall of Fame great Grover Cleveland Alexander who won 31 and struck out 240 batters. The offense was led by Gavvy Cravath aided by the Small Baker Bowl park, led the majors in home runs, runs batted in and slugging percentage. The Phillies made it to the World Series and the first great Phillies season was over.

This was the zenith of the Whiz Kids. This was a team that was destined to win the pennant. They had Del Ennis, Robin Roberts and then they had Richie Ashburn. Whitey was good as he hit .303 for the season and the Phillies had a big lead as Curt Simmons a pitcher who was the final ingredient of bringing the Phillies a pennant even though he missed the final month of the season due to military service. The 1950 Phillies we're a team of legend.
