The Contenders: Page 10

181 Marko Saaresto
182 Peter Gabriel Peter Gabriel Peter Brian Gabriel is an English singer-songwriter, musician and humanitarian activist who rose to fame as the original lead singer and flautist of the progressive rock band Genesis.

Why did I not see this guy in 169 entries? This guy is brilliant! He has the eccentricity of Freddie Mercury (even now) and he did the weird costume idea years before Gaga, at a time when he could have been thrown in a clinic for it. All that aside his voice isn't bad either. I can accept not seeing Phil Collins (though he should also be here), but I can't accept Peter Gabriel...

Great singer. One of the best ever.

183 Steve Marriott Steve Marriott Stephen Peter "Steve" Marriott was an English musician, songwriter and frontman of two notable rock and roll bands, spanning over two decades.

Small Faces, Humble Pie, Nobody has a voice like he had.

184 Eric Martin
185 Fred Durst Fred Durst William Frederick "Fred" Durst is an American musician and film director. Durst is best known as the vocalist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit, formed in 1994, with whom he has released six studio albums.
186 Randy Meisner

All the great singing Don Henley did for the Eagles and you're going to put Meisner ahead of him for one note? I like Meisner, and Take it to the Limit is a great song, but come on...

Listen to the last line of Take It To The Limit...where I think he hits a high G#. And this is within his normal singing range...not falsetto.

187 Don Henley Don Henley Donald Hugh "Don" Henley is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and drummer, best known as a founding member of the Eagles before launching a successful solo career.

The lead singer of the Eagles for all of their best songs, like Hotel California, Desperado, Wasted Time, Life in the Fast Lane, Best of My Love, and many others, plus has had a great solo career unlike any other Eagle...

If a guy who sang three songs for the Eagles is on the list, probably their best singer should be on here too...

188 Bob Seger Bob Seger Robert Clark "Bob" Seger is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s.

Do I really have to explain this one? I'm adding him on and he should be top ten. The category is best ROCK singer, right? Nobody rocks like Seger.

189 John Cougar Mellencamp
190 Chris Martin Chris Martin

I like Coldplay, but to me Chris Martin is a ballad singer not a rock singer. Nice singer, and I enjoy their music, but he's one that I just think doesn't fit this category.

191 Lauri Ylonen Lauri Ylonen Lauri Ylönen is a Finnish singer-songwriter, best known as the frontman of the Finnish alternative rock band The Rasmus.
192 Ian Astbury
193 Jon Oliva Jon Oliva John Nicholas Oliva, known as Jon Oliva, is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer. Co-founder of the metal band Savatage and the rock opera Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He's got a real 4 octave range, able to morph the sound of his voice to any style, from John Lennon and Freddie Mercury, more.
194 Lita Ford Lita Ford Lita Rossana Ford is an English-born American rock guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, who was the lead guitarist for The Runaways in the late 1970s, an all-female rock band formed by Joan Jett and Sandy West. In the 1980s Lita Ford embarked on a solo career.
195 Phil Collins Phil Collins Philip David Charles "Phil" Collins is an English singer-songwriter and musician, who has also worked as a record producer and actor.

Genesis is the bomb and he is a great singer for Genesis not as good as Peter Gabriel though.

196 Papa Emeritus (I, II, & III)

If you guys haven't heard of Ghost, you are missing out. The whole band is phenomenal at what they do and are VERY talented. The singer, who is now Papa Emeritus III, is truly an amazing singer. It's been the same singer for each album, but he pretends to be a new satanic priest for each album, hence why he's "III". His stage presence blew me away, can't wait to hear more from Ghost in the near future! - Dorito

197 Devin Townsend Devin Townsend Devin Garret Townsend is a Canadian musician, songwriter and record producer. He was the founder, songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist in extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad from 1994 to 2007 and has an extensive career as a solo artist.
198 Rozz Williams Rozz Williams
199 Steven Wilson Steven Wilson Steven John Wilson is an English musician and record producer, most associated with the progressive rock genre.
200 Buzz Osborne Buzz Osborne Buzz Osborne is an American musician, and composer. He is mostly known for the lead vocalist of the American Sludge Metal band "The Melvins".
