Best San Antonio Spurs Teams of All Time
Another great season for the Spurs as a 48-win season earned them another Central Division title and yet another playoff season. They finally won a series in a 7-game thriller over the Philadelphia 76ers and led the Washington Bullets 3 games to 1 before falling short of an NBA Finals berth.

For the NBA, it was a welcome and hear a scoring explosion was about to be unleashed. It also started a golden era in Spurs history. It was the first one as the team lit up the scoreboard with 115 points per game. George Gervin led the team with a 54 percent field goal average and averaged 23.1 points per game. The team was also led by Billy Paultz, and Larry Kenon. But the team was haunted by its own defense giving up 114 points per game and in the Playoffs, they lost in 2 games over the aging Boston Celtics. But the team would be back.

The next season was George Gervin's season as he flew so we're the Spurs. Their 52 wins we're enough to clinch their first NBA Central Division Title. For Gervin, all season he battled with David Thompson for the scoring titles to see who the champion was. It wasn't settled until the final day of the season. Scoreboard watching was in effect and it should because Thompson scored 73 points, in order to win the title of scoring champion, he needed 58 and he got 63 and instantly became a Spurs and NBA legend.
