Best Screamers

The Top Ten Best Screamers

1 Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) Chester Charles Bennington (March 20th, 1976 - July 20th, 2017) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and actor, best known for being the lead singer of Linkin Park. He also participated in side projects like Julien K and Dead By Sunrise. He committed suicide in 2017 after a period of depression. more.

Easily the best, he should also be the best singer of our generation. He has done so much and everything he has done so far has been successful. I really enjoyed watching Linkin Park in concert, can't wait to see them again in the future. GO CHESTER, YOU ROCK.

He is awesome! NICE VOICE! From a soft voice to a sudden LOUD VOICE. In his song given up, his screams last for 18sec without even taking a rest! Chester bennington should be 1st instead!

Seriously, how is he not number one? In terms of sheer quality and range, Chester Bennington is absolutely amazing. Listen to his side project "Dead By Sunrise" if you doubt.

People are trying to say that Chester can't change the tone in his screams and he can't go to a clean voice straight after and keep an angelic voice. Clearly youve never heard him sing before because that's exactly how he sings and screams. Just because Danny can scream louder or whatever doesn't mean he is the best. Chester is able to control his voice constantly and no matter what pitch he screams, he can change it at will and he's proven this plenty of times.

2 Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) Danny Robert Worsnop is an English musician, singer and songwriter, prominently known as the lead vocalist of rock bands Asking Alexandria and We Are Harlot.

Danny is the Man I have listened to a ton of metal and while others can get close in my head no one can quite get all the notes he brings to the table. Personally I actually dislike Danny from a professional point of view the last album he was with them he didn't even really participate in the creation of it and it suffered because of it. But Stand up and scream is amazing. In particular the High at the end of Closure is just insane. All these singers are great, I'm actually happy with how well profile and accurate this list is to my own opinions. Also I will say this towards the end of his time with AA he changed his voice to be more careful with the health of his vocal chords and I do feel it took a lot out of his performance.

Danny is by far the best screamer on this list. Not only does he scream better than most people, he sings better too. He is the only person I know that can scream lows, mids and highs, but maintain a gigantic singing range. In terms of over all vocal ability, the only person that comes close to him is Corey Taylor. In terms of screaming alone, the only one who comes close to him is Oli Sykes. However, Worsnop surpasses Sykes by a long shot because Sykes is not what he used to be. I feel than Danny definitely deserves the number one spot much more than anyone else on this list

I get that a lot of people don't really like the band Asking Alexandria, but Danny clearly is one of the best singers of this generation. His vocal range is incredible (my vocal teacher didn't believe what he saw) and he can scream for extremely long periods in low, mid and high pitch (though he doesn't do death anymore). People who say he sucks live should watch newer videos (after he quit drinking before performing and took vocal lessons). The only one close to Danny would be Corey Taylor around 2001, but he clearly messed up his voice.

I used to be disapointed when seeing danny's vocal when AA was live.. until I found out his live performance for mitch lurker (RIP) tribute, then I realize what this guy is capable of doing.. he's a true beast, but just did'nt like to show much.. I guess

3 Mitch Lucker (Suicide Silence) Mitchell Adam "Mitch" Lucker was an American musician and lead singer for the deathcore band Suicide Silence.

Say what you want about this guy, he was one of the great deathcore singers!

This dude knows how to scream. His screams work amazingly well with the heavy chugging and soaring solos, and the brutal blast beats. His screams are so versatile, and his screams make Suicide Silence one of the greatest metal bands that modern metal has managed to forge

Bennington, Worsnop, Motionless, and Taylor all have a great collection of screams but I think Mitch might have just barely beaten them.

In all honesty, vocalists like Oli Sykes, Chris Motionless, and Ricky Hoover are amazing, but Mitch completely beats every metal singer I've ever heard at all screams. His highs are piercing and smooth and his growls are beyond godly. Aside from when he had vocal distortion, he sounded flawless live. Mitch was, is, and will always be a legend. He is my idol. Without a doubt, Suicide Silence is the best deathcore and metal band ever. Rest in peace, Mitch, you are missed.

4 Oli Sykes (BMTH) Oliver Scott "Oli" Sykes is a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Bring Me the Horizon. He also founded the apparel company Drop Dead Clothing.

Bring me the horizon is a band that I back in most all aspects when it comes to the screaming. Oli is probably though only screamer that I would be able to listen to on his own with no band backing him. I honestly don't understand how someone from linkin park is on this list or any other person from a band that isn't even a screaming band but I shall digress. Most do have extreamly good vocals so I can't bash them for that. I just think that oli goes above and beyond the call of duty by being able to sing like an angel and scream like a demon. Each noise brings me back want more like I haven't before

He's the best screamer in universe. He has unique voice. I didn't heard better screamer yet. Even his damaged voice is the best. Oli should be at first not Chester. And what Axl Rose doing here? Ok, I write this again : Oliver is THE BEST!

No. Just go away. If you honestly think he's "THE BEST" you should make your own awful list instead of commenting on a slightly more accurate one. He's only on this list because of the scene kids who worship him, he's so bad at screaming, especially live. Chino Moreno, Howard Jones, Ryan Clark, etc. aren't even in the top 10, which is just evidence to me that this generation is hopeless, musically speaking. No taste.

Oli's voice worn down as his technique and skills improved. This is sad, as I've watched him grow as an artist since their first EP was released. It's normal for an artist to strain his or her voice occasionally, but with all his constant performing, recording, and practicing, "occasionally" has turned into "a lot". Added his drug addiction, and who knows what other personal problems he may have that impact how he performs, Oli is hurting his voice. It's very likely he's developed maybe one or two vocal nodules, and I seriously can't bear to see him like this. His screams are, even with the damage, absolutely superb, but I'd rather have him take a break than go on hurting himself

Oli Sykes has truly mastered the false chord technique. In my opinion he is the best screamer not for being especially brutal, but for being able to create harmonic screams matching to the music and having a great vocal range.

5 Chris Motionless

I don't know how exactly Chris Motionless is beneath so many people on this list. Probably because motionless are only now starting to get their groove on and make their mark in metal. Chris has all the supposed qualities that Danny Worsnop (whom is also very talented) from Asking Alexandria has... Except he manages to have an even more diverse range of screams than even Danny. He does epic highs and brutal lows. In a way, his lows sound like Corey Taylor's "2009" screams- mature and deep with purpose (I know most of you who are into both bands would agree). However, he still manages to sound like "cradle of filth" all the same. But unlike all other screamer I know, he doesn't just do the stereotypical lows and highs... He fills in everything in-between with perfectly pronounced middles. He truly is the best screamer in metal in my opinion. I guarantee you're in for goosebumps with the breakdowns of 'immaculate misconception' and 'Abigail', or their new material such as screams in ...more

I love Linkin Park and have been listening to them for years, and Chester's vocals when singing and screaming are excellent, but Chris can scream in so many ways it's overwhelming. The way he transitions from lows to mids to highs is amazing, and he even manages to have awesome cleans. The fact that he is only at 9 on this list, as I'm writing it, is almost offensive as he deserves to be in at least the top three. He is, by far, the most amazing screamer alive. If you want to know what I'm talking about, check out his band "Motionless in White". Listen to Fatal to hear a good example. Or if you want to go old school, Immaculate Misconception, Abigail and City Lights are good starter songs.

His range is almost unreal. His breathing technique is top class and he makes it seem so easy. He does stuff with his voice I've never heard before. His scream is truly unique and characteristic... Because I'd recognise it was him screaming a mile off. Motionless is pretty new in the music scene at the moment so maybe that's why Chris is only 18th on this list. In my opinion he knocks the socks off everyone above, even though linking park, avenge and AA are my favourite bands, no one can deny Chris being just a step ahead when it comes to screaming (it doesn't matter if you like their music or not... The facts are plain to see)

His screams are so chilling. They evoke emotion. There hasn't been an awesome screamer like him of the new generation since the bands of the 0's. Saw them at mayhem fest...they are flawless and I dare say better sounding live than most metal bands today. I'm not into metalcore...but Chris motionless is BRUTAL so I don't care haha m/

6 Corey Taylor (Slipknot) Corey Todd Taylor was born in December 8, 1973. He is an American musician, author, and actor best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the Nu-metal band Slipknot and hard rock/alternative metal band Stone Sour.

Say why you want about this guys live screams, very few can do the scream that this man can do! And he can sing on top of it!

Slipknot '99 - young, gritty, hard working, and raw
Slipknot '01 - all out HATE, emotion, passion, suffering
Slipknot '04 - polished, articulate, witty
Slipknot '08 - deep, captivating, soaring, mature

Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot.

Corey is obviously the best screamer out of everyone. His only competition is Danny Worsnop, Because Danny has godly vocal range. Corey is so emotion-filled and angry. I don't think anyone can copy his technique.

Corey Taylor is an amazing screamer, all in all. He can growl, sing softly, sing with force and put emotion into his lyrics. He is also incredibly resilient, can hold screams for extended amounts of time, and is only inferior to Mike Patton in terms of range. Yes people, Corey Taylor's range is almost half an octave larger than Freddie Mercury's! So, technique wise, Corey Taylor should be on top, no doubt.

7 M Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold)

Matt Shadows Must Be The Number One, From Second Heartbeat, Nightmare, Scream, Afterlife, Almost Easy, Tonight The World Will Die, Save Me, So Far Away... Al Of The Song Is The Best!

I love the starting of Bat country
"he who makes a beast out of himself,
Gets rid of the pain, of being a man"

What is up with avenged sevenfold always being in second place m shadows should be number one not chester

M. Shadows is the best screamer of the world from the first album of avenged sevenfold

8 Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel)

Lol, where is Alex Koehler? Alex Koehler is the BEST SCREAMER ever!

Is definitely the best. I've seen half the bands listed live and Whitechapel kills it as its recorded which most guys can't keep that quality going on tour. Especially towards the end of the tour but you can watch Phil the first show of the tour and the last and he kills it every time

When someone screams so low you really start to believe he actually is a demon. The feeling only Whitechapel fans know - Mixer

I think Phil should take Linkin Parks place, death-metal is awesome, he is an absolute beast in the song Let Me Burn

9 Jake Luhrs (August Burns Red)

How is Jake not number 1? M. Shadows and Chester don't even scream anymore! Have you guys heard August Burns Red's newest album leveler? Jake has improved a lot in his screams. He definitely has the cleanest screams and the best around. He should've been number one.

He has clarity, range, and he just goes hard on every single track. His sound is just raw and it carries over live. Most screamers on this lists are incomprehensible. Jake brings the whole package.

I don't understand how anyone could say that Linkin Park or Avenged Sevenfold scream, but Jake is definitely one of the best. Number one in my book.

Johnny Davy should be on this list, just listen to his pig squeal in the beginning of entombment of a machine... completely epic.

10 Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) David Randall "Randy" Blythe is the vocalist and lyricist of American heavy metal band Lamb of God and side-project band Halo of Locusts.

Randy was in the top ten what happened? Why is Kurt higher this makes no sense. Tim Lambesis was 10 now 12? Why are bad screamers getting hurts then the good ones!. At least Chester is still holding the 1 spot and my favorite screamer Danny holding the 2 spot for a long time. Mitch still holding down three. Like this makes no sense because randy and Tim are at their leagues too

Come on he have the best metal scream ever I really no why chester is the 1st this is my top ten screamer :
2-Corey Taylor (Slipknot)"this man one of the sceary screams and one of the beautiful voices"
3-Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)"by the way chester can't scream any more" sorry chester we all love you
4-Axl Rose (Guns N Roses)"welcome to the jungle scream is one of the best"
5-Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) " he have the best grunge scream but not the best scream of all genres"
6-Layne Staley (Alice In Chains)"for sure the best vocalist but his nemember 6 on topten scream"
7-Michael Jackson "the only pop artist I listen to if you think he can't scream go listen to dirty diana don't worry it hard rock song"
8-Benjamin Burnley (Breaking Benjamin)" just listen to diary of jane"
9-Dave Grohl " his really under rated this ...more

Who ever wrote this is cool BUT the only reason I think so is because randy and Corey is on here you should probably give mitch lucker a space on there

Randy's voice is so articulate when he screams, one of the few people that can actually make his screaming almost as clear as talking. Also, where the hell is Amon Amarth's singer on this list? Messed up. I think some people on this list are confusing screaming with yelling.

The Contenders

11 Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) Timothy Peter Lambesis is an American extreme metal musician and producer, best known as the founding member and lead vocalist of American metalcore band As I Lay Dying.

tim I thank you for 'nothing left'... the best metalcore voice and the best metalcore song you have given me... it causes me goosebumps and takes my soul out every time I listen to it...

Listen to "Paralyzed" and you will be amazed. His screams own all these singers here.

Tim is easily one of the best screamers out there... Has that deep gritty yell to that pretty high pitch scream, he can do it all. And has that nasty death metal growl. In my opinion it's Tim 1 and Danny at 2

12 Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. In 1987, he started the grunge band Nirvana, which became one of the most successful bands ever. He was a talented yet troubled grunge performer. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend in the 1990s with his band. He committed suicide at his more.

Kurt deserves to be in top ten there is no question in my mind. He merits it just for the passion in his vocals; his screams are hard to forget even with two decades gone. It is a damnshame the pressure got to him contributed to the ending of his passion, art, and life. Kurt could have been so much more than even the great man that he was the day he died. To hear some of his best work with Nirvana listen to the album bleach for the screams. Listen to Nevermind for the bands greatest work. If by this point you love the band listen to their final album In Utero.R.I. P Kurt Cobain

How can I express the amazingness of his scream? Just listen to the last minute of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night? " from Nirvana's MTV Unplugged. Last minute of you wanna hear the scream. All of it if you wanna be amazed.

No matter that he's gone from us. He is one flipping amazing human being... He left because he couldn't get a thrill out of anything and couldn't appreciate anything or anyone the way he used to.R.I. P

Really? Kurt made good music, but he was NO screamer!

I don't think you listened too much of his music. He was a screamer. Just listen to "Tourette's" and get back to me. - Mumbizz01

13 Matty Mullins

Seriously. How have I just had to add him? Forget how awesome his band is (Memphis May Fire), but the dude has an AMAZING singing voice and one of the best Screams I've heard! Seriously, check these dudes out if you haven't already! - mattcooper-kay

Amazing, versatile screamer, can sing great too. Definitely should be way higher on the list, but won't be due to generally being unheard of! - mattcooper-kay

Matty Mullins is definitely one of the most powerful screamers in existence. It actually sounds like he's nearly blowing his voice box out when he screams. So much power and emotion.

I've never heard a vocalist as good and consistent in his sound as Matty Mullins. This guy is a champ. Not to mention his lyrics and melodies are above and beyond the status quo.

14 Matt Tuck (Bullet for My Valentine)

Listen to Tears don't fall then vote. You shall soon know the best

I believe Matt Tuck deserves to be first. He's really one of the best metalcore vocalists alive. He was amazing in Scream Aim Fire.

Don't even argue, listen to tears don't fall and others they speak for itself

Tears don't fall, Waking the demon, Scream aim fire, Disappear, and more

15 Winston McCall (Parkway Drive) Winston Thomas McCall is an Australian singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the metalcore band Parkway Drive and the hardcore punk band Rain Dogs.

How does the best end up at 44, seen most of the screamers live and winston smashes them all, he keeps improving and his vocal range in screams is unmatched, ollie sykes and danny worsnop come close but seriously... Chester bennington can't scream he sounds like an angry possum

I can not believe how could this guy be 44th place man.. Listen to Karma, Idols and anchors, Sleepwalker and many more.. He is the best.. His scream is unique!

Can somebody explain to me how in the hell is winston number 15 and chester number 1? He barely even scream anymore in his songs, hell even post hardcore bands do more screams than him. Now this guy Winston right here, best screamer I have ever witnessed, watch him live and you'll know what I'm talking about

This man can do the high pitched screams to the vicious growls effortlessly. And that queer Chester Bennington's Band is not even METAL or Screamo for God's sake. Additionally Winston is a lyrical master as he shows metalcore's roots in Punk's hardcore.

16 Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan)

This guy has a fantastic voice. He dose many different screams, and he can also sing very well. His voice goes fantastically with the incredibly harsh sounding and chaotic guitars and drums of The Dillinger Escape Plan. He does fantastic live performances, and he also did guest vocals on the song "The Feast" by Genghis Tron. (another fantastic band if you've never heard them before)

Listen to the song "Farewell, Mona Lisa" and try to tell me that I'm wrong.

Jesus Christ his range is massive, if only he used it more

17 Benjamin Burnley (Breaking Benjamin) Benjamin Jackson Burnley IV is an American musician, composer, and producer, best known as the founder and frontman of the American rock band Breaking Benjamin.

Seen them live three times, all times the screams were amazing!

His screams aren't thin and weak or low and hidden, perfectly in between. And he screams at the right time, not for full choruses or songs.

#1 ben
#2 adam gontier
#3 chester

Yes! Love this band!

18 Mike Hranica (the Devil Wears Prada)

I don't see how he is below Danny Worsnop, in my opinion, and Oli Sykes. Oli's screams sound the same, he doesn't hit lows, and he can barely do highs. Same with Danny, who uses equalizers to make them sound the way they do. Mike doesn't, and he can scream live just the same as on his albums. I dunno, I just think he should be a little higher on the list. He has experience and from taking his band as a joke to making an album that hit in the top 40 albums in Rolling Stone... It's an accomplishment. Oli and Danny haven't done that yet, now have they?

I'm being elitist... I know.

This dude can scream though to some it seems as if his scream is fading; it was a personal choice that he decided to go with the more "live" sound on his newer albums, so he didn't feel like he was cheating his audience. In saying this he has a diverse unique scream and I think he is underrated. But this is a forum with a lot of widespread opinions take a look at the "with roots above and branches below" album. This in my opinion best shows his power and stamina to stretch the limits of his vocal chords.

He's an amazing vocalist who does great highs but always brings in amazing lows, just listen to songs like assistant to the regional manager or hey john whats your name again where he displays amazing range and an incredible raspy sound. Also you can understand what he's saying you actually have to listen to the music though. :p

Definitely a better screamer then most people would expect, his voice has continually wowed crowds around the world. Despite most screamers, his voice has only improved for the better. He can continually change notes without a doubt. Mikey deserves number #1.

19 Spencer Chamberlain (Underoath)

He has incredible screams, I think he should at least get into the top 20.

Spencer should have been WAY higher than a lot of these guys. He's better than Oliver Sykes

Specter is an amazing screamer. He blows my mind at his ability. The number one best.

Spencer, sings, svreams and lead the metal with his mouth

20 Austin Carlile (Of Mice & Men) Austin Robert Carlile is an American former musician and current baseball coach from Pensacola, Florida. He is the former lead vocalist of Attack Attack! and Of Mice & Men. After leaving Of Mice & Men, he went to coach youth baseball in Costa Rica.

Of mice and men was one of the first screamo bands I've ever listened to and by far is my favorite band

21 James Brown James Joseph Brown was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, record producer and bandleader. A progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century popular music and dance, he is often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul".
22 Craig Mabbitt

Epic highs, intense lows. Why isn't he in the top 10?

This should be on the top ten list! He's way better than Ronnie.

Listen to ungrateful / this war is ours and then vote Craig surely needs to be in the top 20 at leat. Brilliant screams, !

Mabbit is way better than Radke!

23 Chris Roetter (Like Moths to Flames)
24 Jonathan Davis (Korn) Jonathan Howsmon Davis, also known as JD and JDevil, is an American musician best known as the leading vocalist and frontman of the nu metal band Korn.

Great singer... Though I've never heard him scream much. Also, where is Howard Jones?

He puts so much emotion into his screaming, his growls are awesome as well

Absolute god like! Even better live than in studio!

What is that? JD is the best screamer. Listen to Good God, Shoots and Ladders, Blind and It's On!

25 Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) Christopher John "Chris" Cornell was an American rock musician and singer-songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter and rhythm guitarist for Seattle rock band Soundgarden and as former lead vocalist and songwriter for the supergroup Audioslave. His vocal range was C2 to A5, while more.
26 Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down/Superjoint Ritual) Philip Hansen "Phil" Anselmo is an American musician who is best known as the former lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Pantera. He currently is the vocalist of heavy metal bands Down and Superjoint Ritual.

So gutted that Phil is so far down on this list, his screaming is insane, especially on pretty much every song on the Great Southern Trendkill (the title track and War Nerve come to mind). Plus, although it's irrelevant to a "best screamers" list, but on tracks like Cemetary Gates, he proves he can sing incredibly well. My runner-ups would be Corey Taylor, Marilyn Manson, Alexi Laiho and Zack de la Rocha (who isn't even on this list! Listen to Freedom at the end! ).

What how could anyone forgot Phil Anselmo
Look up Superjoint ritual Ozena and tell me if he shouldn't be higher..

Anyone who did not choose him knows nothing about metal or music

Suicide Note Pt. 2, all I gotta say.

27 Joe Duplantier (Gojira) Joseph "Joe" Duplantier is a French musician best known as the guitarist and vocalist of metal band Gojira.
28 Roger Daltrey (The Who) Roger Harry Daltrey, is an English singer and actor. In a music career spanning more than 50 years, Daltrey came to prominence in the mid 1960s as the founder and lead singer of the English rock band The Who, which released fourteen singles that entered the Top 10 charts in the United Kingdom during more.

Can't believe I had to add this guy. You people don't know what screaming is until you've heard Roger Daltrey scream. The original screamer, and still the best.

The original and the greatest screamer.

29 Zach Johnson (I See Stars)

In my opinion, Zach has an amazing voice. Maybe it isn't as good as other voices from this top, but he deserves to be in a higher rank.

30 Joe Nurre (Shaded Enmity)
31 Frank Black Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV (born April 6, 1965) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Pixies, with whom he performs under the stage name Black Francis.
32 Layne Staley (Alice In Chains) Layne Thomas Staley was an American musician who served as the lead singer and co-songwriter of the rock band Alice in Chains, which he founded with guitarist Jerry Cantrell in Seattle, Washington in 1987. Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s. more.

I say that layne staley was the best vocolist because no one could sing like him he was so unique in so many ways which made him so much better. I completely agree of what tom morello said when he said that he can scream like an angry angle

No one could scream like Layne. Tom Morello about Layne: "He sounded like an angry angel. "

All I can say is "Imatations are pale"... Even though Layne hasn't been given the credit he deserves, no one will be able to take away his god given talent to sing like and angry angel. RIP Layne - forever missed

Not a big fan of AiC but listen to Would? and tell me that he ain't a god of screaming alongside Steven Tyler. Well, why is Steven on number 233? This list is horrible. Even Kurt Cobain's on 17 huh

33 Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) Trevor Strnad is an American singer and musician mostly known as the lead vocalist and frontman of The Black Dahlia Murder.

This list is so cancerous it gave me tumors. Anyways this dude is my inspiration to scream. Oli Sykes? Dude blew out his voice, yet is still in the top 10. Andy Biersack? Bad screams. Danny Worsnop? His screams make me wanna cut off my ears then drench them in gasoline and laugh while they burn. Trevor on the other hand is awesome, high, black metal- influenced screams, brutal lows, and everything in between. A singer with great technique, tone, and range.

This list is a complete joke. Like I was laughing the whole time scrolling down. All this is, is a popularity contest. I'd love to see AXL ROSE try to death growl the way Trevor can. What a crock.

There isn't a better screamer than Trevor. Just listen to some songs by BDM and you'll see. Watch them LIVE too - aspasiz

Not the best but he deserve better rank than 29th

34 Austin Carlile (Attack Attack!) Austin Robert Carlile is an American former musician and current baseball coach from Pensacola, Florida. He is the former lead vocalist of Attack Attack! and Of Mice & Men. After leaving Of Mice & Men, he went to coach youth baseball in Costa Rica.

I think that he deserves to be in the top 10 but yeah.. I don't know... People have different tastes. But I really love Austin Carlile's screaming technique. He is very talented screamer

For a guy who can't death growl he's good. I think his sense of not caring what people think and to just keep going are good qualities. Austin Carlile is one of the best screamers ever.

Austin has the most unique screaming voice from all vocalists in this list and he's amazing live! He must be at least in the top ten!

He is amazing at screaming and he actually screams unlike a lot of the guys on this list. Yeah their vocals are good but they don't actually scream

35 Brian White (A Skylit Drive)
36 Chino Moreno (Deftones) Chino Moreno is an American musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist and contributing guitarist of Deftones.

How is he not higher? He should be at least top 5. Go listen to "Korea" if you don't believe me. Holy crap.

I don't understand why this isn't on the list. Chino is one of the better screamers in all music, and one of the best musicians of the past 20 years. He deserves to be up at the top with Chester Bennington, and far, far above any of the scenecore artists people have voted up at the top. Chester and Chino are two of the best screamers and I'm surprised no one added Chino before now!

I absolutely think Chino should be higher up like top 10 at least. Many of the singers in the top are metalcore singers (not Chester, love Chester) and maybe haven't heard much of Deftones and Chinos his distinctive scream.

Very good screamer - 10Jackson

37 Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) Lars Mikael Åkerfeldt is a Swedish musician, prominently known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of progressive death metal band Opeth, as well as being the former vocalist of death metal supergroup Bloodbath for three albums up until 2012. more.
38 Max Green (Escape the Fate)

Check The Guillotine part 2

39 Jared Warth (Blessthefall)

He's got some of the most intense screams I've heard. Along with Beau's cleans and the great backing music, Warth is just flat out amazing.

His screams are just so powerful. He should be higher up this list in my opinion. Then when Beau joins it's perfect.

He is the bassist but provides Beau with awesome screams to sing over honestly this guy needs to get noticed more, he is so underrated - ReganKnowsBest

Definitely one of the most unique screamers in the game. When you hear this guy you won't forget him

40 Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me)

He is hands-down the artist who made me fall in love with the vocal style, and all genres which use it. His performance live is impeccable, and only doesn't sound exactly like the albums' versions due to him typically adding layers of his own voice to enhance the experience.

Most of the other so called "screamers on this list don't even scream anymore. Tommy outshines most everyone else on this list but 26 really? Some people just don't know good screamers or music for that matter

His screams live are just as fantastic as his studio ones. He screams almost effortlessly and just sounds amazing. Who wouldn't put him in at least the top 10? Also his normal vocals are incredible too.

This guy sounds like a pitch shifted banshee when he screams. In a good way. Plus his regular singing is beautiful too.

42 Ronnie Radke (Escape the Fate) Ronald Joseph Radke is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, musician, and record producer born in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Now Ronnie is in another band called falling in reverse they're new album is gonna release on june I bet you ronnie will be on fire because he din't leave escape the fate he was only told to leave the band and poor rake had to leave the band he would never give up his career so he created a band called falling reverse as I said ronnie will be on his best hear other songs witch he sang like My apocalypse, Not good enough for truth in cliche (Escape the fate) I am telling you he will be the very best screamer soon!

When I first started listening to his music, from Escape the Fate and Falling in Reverse, I thought someone else was doing the screaming lol. It was just so different from his singing and talking voice, and the transitions between the two were so smooth, I couldn't even fathom it was the same person.

Ronnie was one of the best screamers out there, especially his lower screaming ability such as in The Guillotine. The ending of the song were perfect double-layered screams. But now that he is in FIR he uses more rap than rock and his screams are not as good

This manly kid. He screams awesome. Go buy his bands album. "the Drug in me is you" album by Falling In Reverse available on iTunes.

Laugh out loud axl has never screamed in anything. His voice is really annoying and whiny too.

He sucks

Screams like a llitte girl :D

You guys are just not listening,i've heard all those dudes, but St.pete FL.93 screamed and did it with his voice I've still yet to hear anyone come close.I think you judge dude cause he's been a fick.Hr with l LP out scream any of those singers in his prime.

44 Stitch D (The Defiled)
45 Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage, Devil You Know) Howard Jones (Born July 20th, 1970) is an American Heavy Metal vocalist. He currently fronts the band Light the Torch (Formerly Devil You Know), but is best known for his tenure in the band Killswitch Engage from 2002 to 2012 and was a vocalist for the now defunct Blood Had Been Shed.

I think he made killswitch better and he is doing well on his own

The best vocalist in the world

How is he this low

46 Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch) Ivan L. Moody, known by the pseudonym Ghost during his time with Motograter, is the lead vocalist for American heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Definitely better than a lot of the vocalists ahead of him on this list. More of a popularity contest if you ask me! Ivan has a real outstanding kind of voice. Its rich, deep, and the epitome of masculinity!

Ivan has talent in screaming! He should be at least up there on top 10 - 20 range

Amazing vocal range, AND scream range. One of my favorite baritones

Very powerful sinning and screaming (if it can called it)

47 Serj Tankian (System of a Down) Serj Tankian is a Lebanese-born Armenian-American singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, poet, and political activist. He's best known for being the lead singer of the Armenian/American rock band System of a Down. After System of a Down's hiatus in 2006 he began to release more.

Serj Tankian is allout amazing. A good singer in general but his screams are amazing. Basically any of his screams on the Toxicity album are perfect, BYOB (I believe that was off of Steal This Album, but don't quote me I am probably wrong) had AMAZING screams. I looked at this list not even thinking about the NU Metal and Grunge screamers just the same old screamo and metalcore. However Phil Anselmo would be my favorite metal screamer. I am not sure if he is on this list though

Byob is on mesmerize just a friendly correction. But serj has very creative vocals he was opera trained and you can definitely tell at times. His screams, growls, and vocal control are like no other just check out their debut album if you don't believe me!

48 Bon Scott (AC/DC) Ronald Belford "Bon" Scott was a Scottish-born Australian rock musician, best known for being the lead singer and lyricist of Australian hard rock band AC/DC from 1974 until his death in 1980. He was born in Forfar and lived in Kirriemuir, Scotland, for 5 years before moving to Melbourne, Australia, more.

How is this guy not even on here? He should be top five.

Heck yeahs. :) Don't get me wrong, I love stuff like Asking Alexandria, BVB, and ADTR, but Bon Scott was the original. Not only that, but his scream is not only aggressive, but melodic and beautiful at the same time.

Should be #2

49 Alex Koehler (Chelsea Grin)

He has more range then anyone alive except the screamer from The Devil Wears Prada hands down the best vocalist in my opinion

How is Alex not in top ten, he has way more talent than a lot of the singers in the top ten, way more range and can scream very clear!

Alex has more talent chester whatever his name is

Has perfect highs and insane lows

50 Jeremy McKinnon (A Day to Remember) Jeremy Wade McKinnon is an American musician and producer, best known as a founding member and the lead vocalist of A Day to Remember.

THE most diverse artist ever, you can literally hear & feel the emotion in his voice & can easily transition from soft singing to hardcore screaming his lungs out in the same song!

Manages to mix screaming and singing perfectly, plus can be aggressive and mellow in the same song

One of the best growl in metalcore and if you think his clean vocal is not metal enough listen to bad vibration, reassemble, exposed and don't forget paranoia

Most unique and amazing scream ever heard in the history of mankind. It's more like a lion's roar really.
