Smallville has a lot of good actor, and some better than others... The actors/director are great to set a emotional scenes. But the biggest talent they had, was to set an sad emotional scene. And in this episode they had the best; "the funeral". Ofcause I'm not happy that it was Jonathan Kent that died, but they had to.. They made a so called "Jumping the shark".
Ps. Some say that Clack and Lana was the best couple, that is ridiculous. Clack and Lana "grew apart" and could not trust each other eventually. Lana's hatred to Lex never disappeared, but Lois and Clack's relationship became stronger and they had passion.
