Year-End Billboard Hot 100 Ranked (2009)

As part of my journey into the 2000s, I decided to look at 2009's Year-End Hot 100 since there was some people who suggested that it was a terrible time for mainstream music. How is the 2009 Hot 100 for mainstream music?

100.) Pop Champagne - Jim Jones ft. Ron Bronz and Juelz Santana (These guys should be arrested for autotune abuse)

99.) Diva - Beyoncé (This is the musical equivalent of a headache)
98.) Break Up - Mario ft. Gucci Mane (Does anyone else feel like there should be a Super Mario parody of this?)
97.) Obsessed - Mariah Carey (Mariah + Autotone + Untruthful Lyrics = Failure)
96.) Birthday Sex - Jeremih (It's the best song off the birthday tetralogy; it's a terrible one)
95.) Hotel Room Service - Pitbull (I hated this when I first heard it and my opinion still hasn't changed)
94.) Turn My Swag On - Soulja Boy (I don't anything needs to be said about this)
93.) Turnin' Me On - Keri Hilson ft. Lil Wayne (I'd turn this off if it ever came on the radio)

92.) Untouched - The Veronicas (Ew)

91.) If U Seek Amy - Britney Spears (I'm not gonna spell it out)
90.) Calle Ocho (I Know You Want Me) - Pitbull
89.) Sugar - Flo Rida ft. Wynter Gordon
88.) Every Girl - Young Money
87.) Throw It in the Bag - Fabulous and The-Dream

85.) Kiss Me Thru the Phone - Soulja Boy ft. Sammie
84.) Crack a Bottle - Eminem ft. Dr.Dre and 50 Cent (Really, Eminem?)
83.) Right Round - Flo Rida ft. Kesha (Must Flo Rida ruin a classic?)
82.) Whatcha Say - Jason Derulo
81.) Boom Boom Pow - The Black Eyed Peas (Doesn't deserve to be the #1 song of the year)
80.) One Time - Justin Bieber (Hehe, the easiest target is 21 spots above the bottom of the list)
79.) Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) - Beyoncé (Gosh, is this so irritating)
78.) Whatever You Like - T.I.
77.) Blame It - Jamie Foxx ft. T-Pain

74.) How Do You Sleep? - Jesse McCartney ft. Ludacris
73.) Good Girls Go Bad - Cobra Starship ft. Leighton Meester
72.) Big Green Tractor - Jason Aldean (The title already tells me I should move along)

68.) LoveGame - Lady Gaga (The discostick lyric sure didn't age well)
67.) Beautiful - Akon ft. Colby O'Donis and Kardinal OffishallI

65.) Right Now (Na Na Na) - Akon
64.) Down - Jay Sean ft. Lil Wayne
63.) If I Were a Boy - Beyoncé (This would've been lower if the only thing I judged this on was the lyrics)
62.) The Climb - Miley Cyrus (Compared to Doo It!, We Can't Stop, and 23, this is a masterpiece)
61.) Fire Burning - Sean Kingston (Oh, hey Sean)
60.) Gotta be Somebody - Nickelback (Too preachy)

59.) Goodbye - Kristinia DeBarge
58.) Party in the U.S.A - Miley Cyrus (This would've been better if she hadn't tried to rhyme famous with crazy)

55.) Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf ft. Lil Wayne
54.) Knock You Down - Keri Hilson ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo
53.) New Divide - Linkin Park
52.) Fallin' For You - Colbie Caillat (It's kinda sad to see her fall off the map)

50.) Say Hey (I Love You) - Michael Franti, Spearhead, and Cherine Andereson
49.) I'm Yours - Jason Mraz
48.) She Wolf - Shakira

44.) Waking Up in Vegas - Katy Perry (Remember when Katy Perry did not bore listeners to death?)
43.) Battlefield - Jordin Sparks (It's no Pat Benatar, but I'll take what I can get)
42.) I Do Not Hook Up - Kelly Clarkson (The hook is a bit irritating, but the rest is still serviceable)
41.) Replay - Iyaz
40.) Then - Brad Paisley
39.) You Found Me - The Fray
38.) Already Gone - Kelly Clarkson (Better than Secrets, worse than Halo)
37.) Paparazzi - Lady Gaga

35.) You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift (Treat You Better done right)
34.) Second Chance - Shinedown

33.) Green Light - John Legend ft. Andre 3000 (Much better than the snooze fest that was All of Me)
32.) I Run to You - Lady Antebellum (Lady Antebellum left a really good first impression)
31.) Pretty Wings - Maxwell
30.) Her Diamonds - Rob Thomas
29.) Whatever It Is - Zac Brown Band (Zac Brown Band)
28.) Miss Independent - Ne-Yo (It's sad to that the exact same person who made this also made She Knows)
27.) People are Crazy - Billy Currington (They sure are)
26.) Dead and Gone - T.I ft. Justin Timberlake
25.) Never Say Never - The Fray (The Fray)
24.) Please Don't Leave Me - Pink (I won't)
23.) Sweet Dreams - Beyoncé (Beyoncé is the most bittersweet act on this chart)
22.) Halo - Beyoncé (The best song in the Ryan Tedder trilogy)

21.) Heartless - Kanye West (It's no Ultralight Beam, but I'll still take it)
20.) Mad - Ne-Yo (Goes to show that Ne-Yo has a lot of genuine talent)
19.) Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band (Well, I do love my chicken fried, sooo...)
18.) Love Story - Taylor Swift (If Shake It Off is her most successful song, then this is by far her most iconic)
17.) Don't Trust Me - 3OH!3 (This is so bad its awesome!)
16.) Life Your Live - T.I. ft. Rihanna (Nostalgia)
15.) Gives You Hell - All American Rejects (No shame)
14.) My Life Would Suck Without You - Kelly Clarkson (This isn't just catchy; it's immensely catchy!)
13.) So What - Pink (I've grown to love the song overtime, but I'm still not sure what to think of the video)
12.) Poker Face - Lady Gaga (At least this hit #1 on the year-end Mediatraffic chart of 2009)
11.) White Horse - Taylor Swift (Remember when Taylor did country pop?)
10.) Disturbia - Rihanna (Rihanna when she is demonstrating pop music's best traits)
9.) Just Dance - Lady Gaga ft. Colby O' Danis (Nostalgia)
8.) Hot n Cold - Lady Gaga (Why couldn't this hit #1 instead of I Kissed a Girl!?)

7.) Viva la Vida - Coldplay (2009 sure was a great time for #1s)
6.) Use Somebody - Kings of Leon (Love it!)
5.) Love Lockdown - Kanye West (Kanye when he isn't trying to make a fool out of himself)
4.) 21 Guns - Green Day (Green Day)
3.) Sober - Pink (I've noticed that a good amount of songs with "Sober" in the title are really good; this is no exception)
2.) Fireflies - Owl City (Clever use of autotune, refreshing narrative, soothing music, what else can I ask for?)
1.) Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z & Alicia Keys (This is a strong contender for my favorite song of the decade)

Overall: 602/1000. Color me impressed. This is 2012 all over again.

EDIT: Don't Trust Me is now moved down to Abysmal. Second Chance and You Belong With Me Up to Great. Score is now 595.

I'm making this too. With a special surprise... - ProPanda
