Best U2 SongsConsisting of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., this Irish rock band is arguably the greatest rock band in the world. So with no further delay, here are the top ten sings from the force that is U2.

"the song is really fantastic, it moves people... Such an inspiring song... "
If I had to pick one song to listen to for all of eternity, it would either be this or Born to Run. This song makes me want to cry every time I listen to it and the message is absolutely beautiful. Bono and his friends really outdid themselves.
The best song EVER!
But the cover feat Mary is amazing, better than the original!
Never let a bad taste in your mouth
with or without you is a good song, it sounds perfect for what it is, but one is a great song that far outdistances with or without you in spite of its rougher sound. there's just more there to one than wowy, which is their second best song.
the dynamic of this song is outstanding, close call, but I think it's the top one for U2
This is the best U2 song by far because it sounds epic and and it is structured so well and the edges guitar playing is legendary and bono's vocals are sick as but all round the song is awesome
The beat and song structure brings this song together.
This was the first song I ever heard by u2 and it's my dad's favourite song and I just love every little detail about this song. I can't think of anything that would make this song more epic than it already is, it's perfect in every way and it never get old. U2 forever.
This is not a protest song... This is the best song ever. If this doesn't make you want to change the world, you need to get your pulse checked.
Actually if you look into it its more a propaganda song against the british, yes it sounds good but its also bull.
Always been my favourite. Lyrically poignant, politically relevant, and great musically!
This song is just amazing. Honestly, how is this not unanimously #1? The almost military-esque drumbeat, the beautiful lyrics, the catchy guitar riff. And to top it all off, the live version is just as amazing. Woo!
Takes everything great U2's done before and puts it into one song, but it's free of a lot of the mistakes they've made before and has elements they've never had before, with an important message.
If this song doesn't chills down your spine, you have no soul.
This is one of the greatest songs ever made.
"I wanna reach out, and touch the flame. "
Beautiful Sonic landscape. Incredible image of America and a true masterpiece.
I was born to the sound of U2 - no joke. And I've never turned back. This song may have been released years before I first entered the world, but it is by far the greatest thing I've ever heard. This is not U2's best song; this is the world's greatest song. 5th place is not good enough for this masterpiece!
For me, this song is about having got religion, having got dogma, and the soul still yearns for something more real, that thing, whatever it is, that burns deep within us; forever pushing us to keep exploring, to keep searching, to keep living in the moment, to keep evolving spiritually; forever moving forward and breaking boundaries, both within us, and without us; because in Truth, God has no boundaries and you can't put God in a book or a box and say, "Well, here it is! By George, I think we got it!
What? Are you kiding me?
This song deserves at least a TOP 5!
Come on, people, vote more this song, is the best song ever!
And yes, I Still haven't found what I'm looking for, this song at top 5! ;)
The moment you hear the first sounds in this song, you can feel the greatness
Agree with you what the hell your song number 8 are you kidding me people. This is song is so good. I love this is song.
One BAND come in the name of love, one BAND named U2.
this has to be at least in top 5!
5/new years day
just can beat it. this song is almost anthem of rock history
This song is out standing! It is the best song on the unforgettable fire! The drumming is the best by larry mullen jr and the guitar is just awesome by the Edge and the vocals are sweet and adam is good.
This is classic U2 that really demonstrates how good they really are - musically and vocally. Their best song ever!
Yes, we can break through. We can begin again. There is hope for the human race. U2 is about hope, and this is their best song.
I remember me laying on my bed, when I turn the radio on and this melody simply pass through my ears, the piano intro, the perfect bass from Clayton... ! This song is simply "orgasmic" :')
Some songs you like the first time you hear them but then they get old. Some songs you don't like at first but they grow on you. Then there are the rare gems like this song...great the first time and still great a million plays later. Great guitar, great vocals, great keyboard to add a melodic feel, great bass and drums for an incredible foundation. It does not get any better than this song.
I don't know I just think it's a really good song, its upbeat and different, keeps the blood pumping
I think this song is all about just screaming jumping up and down and being in a better place they call that place vertigo.
Ultimate song for me at least! Awesome music, excellent vocals! Can listen to this song over and over again! Seriously should be much higher on the list..
On the surface its about a girl enjoying a night out in a nightclub. But if you know your Bible, it also contains references to Jesus' temptation by the devil. The song conflates the 2nd and 3rd temptations, where the devil takes Jesus up to the top of the temple (hence the sensation of vertigo) and then offers to give Jesus the kingdoms of the world if Jesus just bows down and worships him (Jesus, of course, rejected Satan's offer). I wonder what temptations the girl in the nightclub should be rejecting. Great song!
What kind of craziness is this? Scroll down, people and vote this song! The song is rocking! The only thing better than hearing this on a radio is hearing it live.
How can this be all the way down here this is one of their best songs
Still a sonically current song. Edge's guitar effects really stand out, and Bono's portrayal of putting women on a pedestal is an interesting theme.
The chorus can literally send such powerful emotions down one's spine!
Classic! First big U2 hit! How could this song be out of the top 10?
This one could replace Vertigo or City of Blinding Lights which came very late on U2's career!
Best of the bunch and that is saying something. This song is one of my all time favorites from any group. It's a step up from the others. Second would be Where the Streets Have No Name.
Definitely second to Sunday bloody Sunday, I mean have you heard the guitar riff on this, it's amazing
THIS IS A U2 CLASSIC deserves to be in top ten.
2nd favourite song of all time. Utterly amazing. Really don't know why people say the album mix is inferior, still hits so hard.
I've been a huge fan of U2 since forever and as much as I like many of their songs I only love 2 beyond words: All I want is you and this one. Every time I hear Bad I demand silence, and I do get very emotional listening to it. There's only another song in music history that makes me feel like that, and it's Pink Floyd's Wish you were here. That's how great this song is.
Definitely their best song live. It seems like they can drag the song out forever and it just keeps coming at you, it doesn't fade away at all, if you'll pardon the pun. So many different versions as well. A very emotional song obviously for Bono losing his friend on his 21st Birthday to a heroin overdose, and I think that raw emotion comes out in the live performances.
So amazing, emotional, heartfelt... Find the versions from Rattle and Hum and Live Aid on YouTube and you will see how it takes on a whole new level of intensity and passion in a live setting. And it has Bono's best-written, most powerful lyrics:
"If I could, through myself, set your spirit free
I'd lead your heart away, see you break, break away
Into the half light, and through the flame"
What the hell!? This should be on the first page, that's probably why it hasn't been pushed up because most people haven't noticed it. This song has the most incredible trance-like riff out of all of U2's songs, and provides the greatest feeling out of any of their songs. It is the only one of their songs which has the ability to make me cry of happiness, that's how powerful it is.
#105? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What's going on? Its not even on the first page! Give me a break! This is a top 5 song in my opinion, and should be in EVERYBODY'S top 15 or 20.
My top 5:
1. With or Without You
2. Where the Streets Have No Name
3. All I Want is You
5. Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own
All I Want is You to vote for this song!
It's a ballad!
All I Want is You, all the way down here? Listen to this song guys! It just exemplifies so much of what makes U2 great. One of their best pieces instrumentally (the Edge goes off! ), Bono's vocals are fantastic and lyrics are amazing. Definitely top 3 for mine.
This should be 1 of the 10 best songs of U2.
Are you people serious? This song should be top 10 have any of you even heard it. The embodiment of rock
This is #12? Should be in the top FIVE at least. It's my second favorite behind Pride (in the name of love) and I think the problem is nobody has heard it. This is such an amazing song. "You could have flown away... a singing bird in an open cage... that would only fly, only fly for freedom..." now those are some of the best lyrics ever.
HOW in the name of God is this #31?!?!? Are you people serious? Go and listen to this song right now and tell me it shouldn't be in the top 10.
This is an amazing song should be in the top 5 for sure so so good and powerful and moving
This is U2's best song along with Beautiful Day and Vertigo. If you don't agree, you're a mole diggin' in a hole.
An epic, epic song with clever lyrics and awesome melody
14 best song? You gotta be kidding me!
One of their best...
One of U2's heavier songs and a very, very catchy one, my personal favourite.
Huh... I can NOT believe this is 10th
COME ON PEOPLE! Check it out on YouTube-listen to the whole thing and be AMAZED
The promotional video is cool and the music is great. The song for sept 11 victims
10th?! How in the name of all that's Holy did this end up so low?
It's got literally everything going right for it. I'm in a different world when I listen to this song.
I probably won't agree with U2 old school boys, but this song is full of emotions from the beginning till the end. The last of it's kind till now. Perfectly recorded in studio as well as in a live concert, and definitely made to bring down any stadium. Have to listen it!
This is the best song from U2 in my opinion because it epitomizes everything... Beat, lyrics, crazy Edge guitar work, great bass line and they play with the dynamics. Just perfect.
This song is as the title states : even better than the real thing - should definitely be ranked higher
In my opinion "Even Better than the Real Thing" deserves to be in the top-5 of U2.
This guitar work...melody...AWESOME! It's a classic. Really really good!
Surprised this is so far down the list.
Probably my favorite Edge riff
One of the best videos.
I like this song alot and agree that it is on the top ten.
Something to headbang to that throws a sprinkle of disturbing material in there.
This is such an underrated song.
Great Song with a great riff by the Edge!
WHY THIS SONG GETS MY VOTE?
In magnificent, U2 are NOT lyrically very convincing, the song being about two lovers finding 'common ground' and devoting their life to worship, as quoted by Bono. But the fresh composition and clever use of African percussion and other sounds, notably the unique chord progressions and a very supportive bass gave me an almost transcendental listening experience.
Magnificent was the highlight of it's album but wasn't a chart topper, maybe because that album was too much experimental in conception.
The song might never be mentioned along with the likes of one, Beautiful day, WOWY, WTSHNN, Pride, Sunday Bloody Sunday or even lesser mass favourites such as All I want is you, vertigo etc, but the fact is that it had me hooked on to it for almost 2 years and I used to listen to it at least twice/thrice daily for that period GETS IT MY VOTE. It's not the best but being the first U2 song that I heard, it introduced me to the awesome U2 and ...more
awesome song... just listen to it guys only once and am sure you gona vote for it... should be in top 3...
Awesome song... No doubt one of the best song of u2. This song magnificent is really magnificent. Hey guys please vote for this song. This song is awesome cool. Just listen to it, specially the guitar portion is awesome. And of course it... Should be in top 3
Magnificent is awesome I prefer it good because it's got a feel that not every song have and what not it's got the perfect tune and touchy feel also not every song is meant like this but magnificent is just magnificent
Inspirational and beautiful message. Incredible song and one of the greatest of they're work.
"This song is about letting go of somebody you don't wanna let go of..
Could be a lover, could be a father, could be a friend, could be a child, this is Kite."
Bono is legendary!
Definitely, one of U2's most under-rated song!
The emotion behind this song is just overwhelming.
Oh my word! It can't be possible for one band to make this much good music! This song is simply Amazing. The words are meaningful, in true U2 style. But the music! Flip Banana!
Can't believe this is so low.
Very under-rated. It deserves to be in the top ten at the very least.
Your only rivers run cold
These city lights
They shine as silver and gold
Dug from the night
Your eyes as black as coal"
The song is gripping from the very start with its profound lyrics and ambient guitar play
SEVERELY underrated. It's very touching and has mature, meaningful lyrics that I think everyone can relate to at some point of their life. Vote this up into at least top 20, Please!
This song is actually my favorite- amazing vocals, breathtaking song, way more complex than 99% of the songs in the top 10
Love this song it is not an anthem it is complex intense poetic and beautiful and shows a deeper side to the band. Gorgeous
How can this be 79? It's easily one of their top 3, and one of the top 20 songs of all time, by anyone
One of the greatest songs of all time. Incredible in every way imaginable.
U2 themselves have said this is their most complete song
I have been listening to U2 for A LONG TIME and I always come back to this one. Actung Baby gave us many great songs and Ultraviolet, although not everyones favourite, is a stand out for me. It is great in all of it's incarnations. I absolutely love the 360 degree dvd version, stoked that it made it on to U22!
the undercover gem of "Achtung baby"
Iris got all the attention, but listen to the album again. This is by far the best song from the City of Angels soundtrack, a soundtrack that ranks among the best ever.
I love this song... it's always been one of my favorites by this band... and not many people are familiar with it... just a beautiful piece of work!
Easily one of U2's best songs. Should be higher, however POP never got the recognition that it did deserve
This is my favorite song of this band... How can it not be popular..
