The Contenders: Page 3

41 Get on Your Boots Get on Your Boots

Defines the late 2000s mainstream rock feel.

42 Stay (Faraway, So Close!) Stay (Faraway, So Close!)

I consider this by far the best song of U2 and in general the period was one of the most artistic or original for the band, love the "berlin-era". cobain and vedder described what was in the hearts of one part of USA generation, 2pac of the hidden US generation and U2 how we felt in Europe in the same period.

No way this song is not inside the top 10.. Personally I consider this as good as One for sure. The melody and the music is great and it's creating a great atmosphere!

I slept last night with headphones on and woke up at 2 am with this song playing and I swear tears came out of my eyes and I'm a guy so you better believe this song deserves and should be in the top5

Poetry made music: really melancoclic, it gets me to my love stories and rememberings. Really moving...

One of the edges best guitar riffs of all time on the most underrated u2 album of all time come on people

Such a fantastic riff, love the guitar effects! - Deerhunter1984

44 Desire Desire

I do not have a favourite U2 song, so I am voting for this one because it is the most deserving to be higher than it is right now.

So much energy and passion, to dance to this song is to do what everyone else in the world should be doing. Quality tune.

Classic song with an addictive sound that deserves to be much higher on the list.

This song got to number 1 in many countries and also got in the top 10 in many countries so this song should be higher up this list it's a great song with a great beat and lyrics - mneilan

How is overplayed With Or Without You #1 and this isn't even in the top 10. - hype

Excellent song. Definitely top 20, even potentially breaking into top 10. Never played live by the band. Cannot for the life of me understand why this gem is so forgotten and underappreciated.

I have everything from U2 (incl. the CBS-singles). And this is the best song from this great band. I do not understand, why it is so underrated...

"Your gonna meet here there, she's your destination, there's no sleeping there, she's imagination." The final 2:30 minutes of this song is some of the best music any band has ever made.

i think this is problably th best song of u2 is just simply peacefully..

such a beautiful song. only discovered it recently

48 Invisible Invisible

Despite being an experimental piece by U2, this song cracks my top three favorite songs ever. With its read-between-the-lines lyrics that still remain relateable, and the great riff by the Edge, this song has it all. The Edge's great guitar, Bono's trademark vocals, adam's great baseline and Larry's drums holding the song together make this a song to listen to over and over and over again.

Really a good song... should be on the first page

This song really needs to be higher up on this list.

Really awesome song! Should be in top 10... really

49 So Cruel So Cruel

The most touching, heartfelt song I've ever listened to. Although the melody might be simplistic, the piano and lyrics have such good chemistry, that the passion just flows out of the song.

So many great lines in a song make it my favorite U2's song. I had heard it for years associating these lines with personal experiences and enjoying it again and again. It passed quite a long time before I realized what it really was about: a guy dealing with his girlfriend/wife closet homosexuallity. Bono's such a great lyricist.

Personally the best U2 song. Probably the best and most touching lyrics that Bono ever wrote.

50 The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)

The reason why this amazing song is so low is because it's relatively new

This really deserves more than 93 guys...

Listing to it as I wrought this best ever here is the real list
1 the miracle
2 in gods country
3 New Year's Day
4 Sunday Bloody Sunday
5 trip through your wires

Great lyrics. Classic Edge style guitar riff. "We thought that we had the answers, it was the question we had wrong". An early favorite.

54 In God's Country In God's Country

What? What? WHAT? This song, the best of all of U2, is down on 81? I completely and utterly my favorite song of all time. Love the ringing, echoing guitar, the quiet but strong bass and the hopefulness of Bono's voice. Vote for this song, a true classic from the Joshua Tree.

Deserves to be top ten. Still haven't found what I'm looking for is my favourite though

fantastic when done live and acoustic - englishradio

55 Love Is Blindness Love Is Blindness

Beautiful song, can't understand why it's so low. It contains a lot of emotion in it. The solo version of the edge is also magnificent. He broke up with his wife and played this song, broke 2 times the strings but replaced them and kept going on.

Easily one of U2's best, darkest, emotional and captivating songs. Should be in the top 10. This song doesn't get recognized very often, even though critics loved this song. It builds up to its peak slowly, and gives the listener tension while he/she waits... great song - Jiorl

Probably my favourite U2 song, and definitely one of the best u2 songs - Jiorl

56 Song for Someone Song for Someone

Every time I listen to this song I start crying... It's amazing, definitely one of their best songs!

Why are all of the 'Songs of Innocence' songs so low? They're AMAZING!

Best song on the new album, no question.

This song is incredible

57 Wire Wire

Not the best but would probably edge into my top ten

Fast-paced, screamingly emotional song, a highlight from The Unforgettable Fire. This one really hits home; it's euphoria and agony inseparably intertwined.

58 Numb Numb

Just heard this for the first time and its rocking me big time.

One of U2 most experimental songs. Stands out from the crowd!
