Actually, Bathory's songs have a lot of great, epic(in all meanings), and sometimes somewhat sad("One Rode To Asa Bay") lyrics. It was a great loss for metal when he died.

29 Devin Townsend
Devin Garret Townsend is a Canadian musician, songwriter and record producer. He was the founder, songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist in extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad from 1994 to 2007 and has an extensive career as a solo artist.

Helluva musician
Easily the best. With an ability to write such diversified yet ever-mind blowing music he should undoubtedly be in the top 10 at least. Listen to the album 'Terria' and come back and tell me I'm wrong, no other songwriter here could write something so inventive and inspired.
